Chapter 28 Frank/October

Frank

I had a keycard, so I didn't think twice about letting myself into Gerard's hotel room.

"Hey," I squealed, running across the room to the window. I threw the curtains back and turned to him.

"What are you doing in here?" He asked, sitting up and rubbing his eyes.

"I wanted to tell you something."

"What is it?"

I turned back to the window and grinned wildly. "October's pregnant."

"Whoa...really?"

"You have got to be shitting me!"

I raised my eyebrows in shock. Now that wasn't Gerard's voice. I slowly turned to the bed, and a disheveled Julianne sat there next to him clutching the sheet tightly to her chest.

"Oh...sorry." I covered my eyes and tried to make my way back to the door. "I didn't know you weren't alone."

"No wait, Frank." She called.

I stopped, but kept my hand up to my eyes. "Yeah?"

"When did she find out?"

"Last night, at the end of the reception. Charlotte made her go take a test. It was positive, obviously."

"I knew you'd get her knocked up. You two have way too much sex!" Julianne exclaimed.

"Okay, so I'm gonna go now." I'd found the door and fumbled for the handle.

"Frank," Gerard called. "You didn't see this, okay?"

"Oh...oh." Frank gasped, staring at the screen.

"You have got to be kidding me, right?" I could feel my eyes begin to well up with tears.

"No dear, I'm really not. See, right here, and here? There are clearly two heartbeats." The technician moved the probe around on my already bulging belly. "You are having twins. Congratulations."

I sucked in a breath sharply; this was almost too much. I was only 13 weeks along and already showing, so the doctor had ordered an ultrasound to verify the reason for my abnormal growth. He hadn't mentioned a thing about the possibility of a multiple pregnancy.

"Are both babies healthy?" Frank asked anxiously.

"Yes, it looks to be so. Keep in mind that your doctor will have to look at this and tell you about it, I'm not authorized to give any diagnosis. But I see two very strong, very separate heartbeats, and everything looks to be progressing nicely." She stared at the screen intently for a moment. "I can see both sexes clearly. Would you like to know?"

Frank quickly answered "Yes," at the same time as I said "No." He grasped my hand and looked at me pleadingly. "Please, October? I want to know if we need to buy two of everything in blue or pink."

"But don't you want to be surprised?"

"I'll be surprised right now. Please?" I was caving, and it was all because of his eyes. I swear those eyes could make me do anything.

I smiled, and looked back at the technician. "Tell us."

"Are you sure? I want to be sure you both want to know..."

"We do," We answered in unison.

"Okay. Well...it looks like you will be buying things in the color of..." She stopped, and looked down at our anxious faces with a grin. "Both."

"Both?" Frank squeaked.

"Yes. There is a boy, and there is a girl."

Frank did a little hop, and leaned forward and pressed his lips into my forehead. "The best of both worlds."
