Adeline's POV

I stared at the heart-shaped indent on the stone wall behind the wooden paneling.

"I found it."

Gabriel and Vern rushed over to me as soon as they saw my discovery. We found it. Vern placed her hand against the wall, and her eyes flashed white again, and a radiating glow was being emitted. She was studying the wall using her powers. She seemed focused and concentrated on the task at hand.

"I think this is it." Vern said, removing her hand from the wall and turning to face us. She looked at me expectantly.

I slowly reached around my neck and unclasped the necklace, before I held it tightly in my palm, feeling the smooth stone touch my skin.

What will the room even hold?

I glanced over at Gabriel, and then I fitted the small, pinkish stone into the indent in the wall without hesitation. The stone fitted perfectly into every dent in the wall. A whitish-pink glow emitted from the place I had just put the stone into the wall. The glowing light seemed to wrap around the pendant. The room was obviously protected by a spell. The stone wall caved in and swung open like a door. It opened up to a dark room, and candles lighted themselves, one by one, in order to light the room.

The room looked like a study; there were papers scattered across the desk, an open bottle of ink, books, and plenty of other clutter. Being unused for years, there were cobwebs decorating the corners of the room. But, there was one part of the room that stood out the most. On one wall of the room, there was a narrow table pushed up against the wall, with a tiny, wooden box on top of it. Being the only object on that side of the room, it naturally called to us.

We all walked towards the small, wooden box, and Gabriel took it in his hands.

"Open it." I urged.

Gabriel slowly lifted the box open. Inside, laying in the velvet cushions, there was a necklace.

I scrunched my brows in confusion.

"Did we just use a necklace to find another necklace?" I blurted out abruptly.

"I'm pretty sure it's an amulet. I can feel vibrations of power coming from it. I could always run some tests on it." Vern replied.

There was a large, red jewel in a circle of golden, intricate details, connected to a golden chain. It was beautiful.

Gabriel placed the amulet back in the box before closing the lid shut.

"I think we should check the rest of the office. We could find more things." Gabriel said.

Vern nodded, but I found my self unable to. It was like there was something in my neck, preventing me from breathing. My throat constricted and a burning sensation began to form at the center. It spread slowly and painfully. I wrapped my fingers gently around my throat, unsure about what was happening. I whimpered in pain.

"What's happening." I gasped out.

"It burns. My throat it burns."

Gabriel rushed to my side to support me. Vern followed behind him and put her hand on my wrist. Her eyes began to glow again.

"What are you doing! Call a doctor!" He shouted at Vern.

Vern's eyes returned back to normal, and she glared at Gabriel.

"I know what I'm doing alright?" She snapped at Gabriel.

Her eyes went back to glowing, and I could feel her magic inside of me. She released thirty seconds later. She took a step back from me and looked at me in shock.

"You're pregnant?" Vern said, surprised. Oh no. She knew. Which means Gabriel heard it too.

"She needs blood. She's pregnant! Her children are half vampires so she needs blood." Vern repeated.

Gabriel's eyes snapped wide open.

"You're pregnant?" He asked.

I nodded my head frantically. I didn't know if he noticed, but my throat is still burning here.

Gabriel sighed and ran a hand through his hair.

"Well, lets go get you blood." Gabriel said before picking me up.

I'm pretty sure he used his vampire speed to take us back to his room because everything became a blur and the next thing I know, I'm on his bed as he fetches me blood. I sat up on the bed, trying to ease the burning in my throat. He returned quickly with a tall metal glass and a straw.

He handed it to me and said, "Drink."

I took the glass into my hand and peered down the cup. Oh god, I can't believe I'm doing this.

I closed my eyes before sipping the drink. It didn't taste like the metallic coppery taste I thought it would have. It tasted sweet, like a strawberry smoothie. As the liquid trailed down my throat, it eased the burn until it completely disappeared into pure bliss. It felt good.

"I need more." I whispered to Gabriel. He nodded before returning with another glass in hand.

I took the glass into my hand and began drinking the refreshing liquid.

"You knew you were pregnant?" He asked.

I paused, mid sip.

"Surprise." I said.

"One more?" I asked pointing to my cup.

Well, I double updated. This chapter was a bit shorter than what my usual chapters are, but you guys can deal with it. I'm so sad my spring break is almost over. It's 12:00 and I'm still in bed. Welps. Don't forget to VOTE and COMMENT!

What will be Gabriel's reaction? What else will they find in the secret room? What does the amulet do?•
