Adeline's POV
"Visit the Oracle."
The same words kept on repeating in my head for the past week. The voice wouldn't go away. You'd think I'd gotten used to it, but it was haunting me constantly, reminding me of the bloody experience I had.
"D-Do you know who the Oracle is?" I turned my head to Eli.
We have been spending a lot of time together recently since Gabriel has been avoiding me. I was alone, and Eli was perfect company.
Right now, were seated on bar stools eating lunch in the kitchen.
"She's this cool old witch lady-" Eli said taking another bite of his sandwich.
"who can tell the future and stuff." He mumbled through bites.
"She's not that far from here. She lives deep in the woods in a tiny cottage, behind the palace." Eli said, taking another glance around the room we decorated.
We just finished helping the decorators for the ball tonight. It was when Gabriel will formally introduce me to his soon to be kingdom, and to announce that he would be King soon. The queen had left the country for the past week, and she would be returning today for the party. But, she loathed me anyways. The King is resigning from his position in a week, and Gabriel would take over.
That's probably why I haven't seen Gabriel since the night I've pranked him. It's like he totally disappeared. Or, maybe he is avoiding me.
I haven't seen any more terrible hallucinations, but the same words keep haunting me.
"Visit the Oracle."
"Adeline, I have to go handle a delivery to the palace outside. You should finish up your lunch." Eli said before sauntering off and leaving me alone in the bare kitchen.
I finished up my sandwich before throwing the plate in the sink. I turned on the sink to wash my hands.
The water felt cool against my hands. I slowly rinsed the off the plate, and held it up to my eyes to observe it.
Blood coated the plate in a thin layer. It dripped from the white plate, and onto the ground. I moved my gaze to the faucet to see the bright red liquid flowing from it.
I screamed. I quickly shut off the faucet and backed. I suddenly felt really cold and terror began to pump through my blood again.
The whole kitchen was soaked in blood, it was dripping from the ceiling and the counter tops.
"Visit the Oracle!" The voice said. It was filled with rage.
"Addie?" Eli was standing behind me. The blood vanished and everything looked normal.
"Are you okay?"
I swallowed, "Um yeah. I just thought I saw something."
"You should probably go get ready, the ball starts in four hours." Eli said before leaving me alone again.
I took a deep breath.
*~~*~~*
I slipped on the delicate silky fabric of the peach colored dress the color was so light, it could almost be white. The top half of the dress was embroiled with beads and pearls, and the bottom flowed out. The dress had a halter neck. I didn't have a choice in what I wore. It was delivered straight to my room. My brown hair was let out in delicate waves, and I had rosy diamonds on my ears.
I was sacred that the hallucinations would reappear, so I was trembling with fear.
A woman came in to put on a tiny bit of make up before the ball. She worked delicately on my face, and her presence comforted me.
