Adeline's POV
I opened my eyes, breathing in the fresh air. I wasn't in the living room anymore. Instead, I was in a clearing somewhat near Vivian's house because I could see it far away in the distance. I was still along the edge of the cliff-like mountain where Vivian's house was situated.
I was the only one in the clearing. Confused, I took in a deep breath.
Moments later, in a swirl of purple, Vivian appeared in front of me.
"Where's Gabriel?" I asked.
"I sent Gabriel away, I'm sure he's very busy," she said, walking closer towards me. Her white dress slightly swayed in the gentle breeze.
"Now you wanted me to teach you, right?" She asked, arching her eyebrow.
I nodded, my hair bouncing up and down.
"Now show me what you got. Open your wings."
Breathing in, I closed my eyes. Following Vivian's command, ai visualized my wings, feeling a tingle in my upper back. I could feel my wings materialize and I breathed out heavily in relief. A wave of calmness and serenity washed over my body. I felt free for the first time in forever.
"Can you move them?" She asked, moving closer to my wings.
I gently flapped my wings. Thats the most I could do.
She looked at them curiously, her purple orbs wide with interest. Gently, she placed her hand on one of my wings. I could feel the coldness of her hand on my wing.
"You have a lot of potential," she took in a deep breath, "Angels. They have so much magic," she said, her hand beginning to glow purple.
She removed her hand from my wing turning towards me.
"The first step is simple," Vivian looked at me with purple orbs.
Before I could process what was happening, in one swift moment, Vivian pushed me.
She may look small, but the force she hit me with send my flying off the edge of the cliff we were on.
My hands reached out in my futile attempts to stay on land. I saw Vivian's face, her blazing purple eyes staring me down right before I saw the endless grayish-brown rock on the side of the cliff.
I could feel the air rushing through my wings as my hair fluttered around behind me.
I stared up into the bright, blue sky, the sunlight blinding me.
I could feel a sinking feeling in my gut as I kept on falling. The inevitable, ineluctable disaster was waiting for me at the bottom of the rocks.
I found myself unable to scream, paralyzed with fear. Terrified.
All I could do was feel the air rushing around me.
I was falling, and although it had only been seconds, it felt like an eternity. My body was slowing the time around me, delaying the tragedy that awaits at the ground.
I sank through the air, accepting my fate.
The air around me stilled. I wasn't falling anymore.
