I pulled my homework out and not long after, I heard a phone ring.
"I'll get it!" I called as I beat my mother to the phone.
I put the phone up to my ear. "Hello?"
"Hey! Is this Julia?" I heard a familiar voice say.
"Hey Paul! And yes this is Julia."
"Do you want to come over and do homework and study?"
"Sure! But do you mind coming over to my house? I already have all my stuff out."
"Sure I'll be there in five minutes."
"Great I'll see you then!"
I hung up the phone and went into my mother's room to tell her that Paul was coming over. I walked in and she was sitting at her desk with newspapers everywhere. She jumped when I walked in.
"What are you doing?" I asked coming to look at the newspapers. They were all ads saying help needed.
"Well I didn't want to tell you until later. We've only been here for a few weeks and we are already in need of money. I'm looking for a job to help support us or we will be forced to move out." Move? This can't happen. I have a boyfriend and such great friends and I was just getting used to school and the neighborhood but I pushed that to the back of my mind.
"Can we please talk about this later? I have a friend coming over to study. You don't mind do you?" I asked hoping that she wouldn't get more stressed out than she already was.
"Yeah sure that's fine."

I heard a knock on the door and got up to see if Paul was here. I fixed my hair and made sure I didn't look like a mess.
I opened it and he stood on the porch with his back pack slung over his shoulder and a grin on his face.
"Good evening madame" He bowed. I just laughed at him. "Get in here" I laughed.
He stumbled through the door and into the house. "We can go up to my room and study. That's were all my school stuff is."
We walked up trying not to disturb my mom but we couldn't stop giggling, especially when Paul nearly fell down the stairs.
We finally made up the stairs without completely falling down. I walked in with Paul following closely behind me and closed the door. I grabbed my textbooks and sat on my bed. I tapped a spot on my bed next to me indicating him to sit there.
"What d'ya have for homework?" He asked. "I have math, science and English."
"Ah. I hate all of them."
"I hate them too."
"I hate school. I hate teachers. I hate people too." I continued.
"You hate me?" He was starting to pretend to cry. "Oh I could never hate you Paulie." I gave a him a hug.
"Especially those chubby cheeks of yours." He blushed.
"Hey! No making fun of my cheeks or I will send the tickle monster!" His threats were terrifying.
I gasped. "You wouldn't dare!" I wrapped my arms around my stomach to protect myself from those horrifying tickles.
He started tickling me. "Nooo Stooop" I screamed in between laughs. I wiggled out of his grip and fell off the bed. "Woah" I said as I fell off the bed and onto the floor.
I was facedown on the floor not making a noise. Paul crawled to the edge of the bed. "Julia? Julia are ye alright?" He asked.
He flipped me over and I burst out laughing. "You little swine" he jumped on top of me. "Ouch! Get off you bloody wanker!"
He got off. "What do you eat?" I said teasing.
"Oh you know just the flesh of our enemies." He casually said like that was normal.
"What."
"I'm only joking." He laughed probably thinking that I thought he wasn't lying.
"Phew." I wiped my forehead like I was relieved. "Come ed or we'll never get this done." He helped me up and I crawled back on the bed.

When we were nearly finished my mother popped her head into my room. "Paul is it? Do you wish to stay for dinner?"
"If it's all right with you." He said politely. "Of course. Dinner will be ready in an hour and I've already called your father to let him know." She trailed off as she walked into the hall.
We quickly finished afterwards. "What do ye want to do now?" Paul asked.
"I know! We can go to the park and you can push me on the swings!" He laughed and shook his head no. "Aw come on! Just this once" I gave him puppy-dog eyes.
"Fine! Just this once 'cause I can't says no to that face" He pinched my cheek. "Ouch! I don't like it when you do that." I complained. He did it again. I just gave him a grumpy face.
"Just for that you can be my slave for the rest of the day." He gave me that look but I could tell he didn't mind. "You first, must carry me down the stairs." I ordered.
I got on his back and he slowly carried me down the stairs. I saw my mother cooking in the kitchen and she turned when she heard us. "Mom, were going to the park we'll be home before dinner." She nodded and didn't seem fazed by the fact that Paul is giving me a piggy back ride.
"Onward Paulie!" I pointed to the door and he slowly walked out the door. I kept my pose the whole time for dramatic effect but it failed horribly.
"Faster, faster!" I yelled and he started running careful not to drop me. When we got to the park he was panting like a dog. He walked me to the swings very slowly and let me down to sit on them.
"Push me now!" I said. He started pushing me and I went higher and higher each time. "You can stop now if you want!" I shouted as I was in the air.
He sat down on the swing next to me and started swinging. He went the opposite way I went. "High-five." I put my hand out.
When we were about to cross each other he put his hand out and hit mine. We he did I jumped off the swing and landed on my feet.
He tried to do the same and but landed on his arse. "Ow!" He shouted as he fell. I laughed as he started rubbing it.
"Ah stop. I just slipped as all" He excused. I just rolled my eyes and smiled. "I wanna go on the slides now," he told me. I just sat down looked at him.
"Please?" I just stared.
"Pretty please?" My expression didn't change.
"I didn't want it to come to this." He grabbed my hand and started dragging me. "No stop," I half-laughed, half-yelled.
"I am your master and I demand you to stop!" He kept on going but he was smiling as he saw me struggle. He almost would've dragged me up the steps if I hadn't gotten up and said I would.
We sat at a tall double slide. "I'll race ya" He competed.
"Oh you're on. On your mark, get set, GO!" I pushed myself and swiftly came to the bottom. "I WIN!" I shout as I slid to the edge.
"Your slide was slippery." He said as he clearly came in second. "Excuses excuses."
I looked at Paul's watch. "I think we better go now. Dinner will be ready soon." He nodded in agreement. I got on Paul's back and he stared running home. "Quick Paulie quick!"
I laughed as he slowed down and had to stop to take a break.
"I think this is a start of a beautiful friendship don't ya think?" I smile.
