~*~ About one year later
I was in jail. It was worse this year. They give us more work around this a time of year, and they expect us to finish it all in one night! Oh, right. Most of you probably call it school.
There was only half an hour left of today. After tomorrow I don't have to come back to be tortured with numbers and letters for two whole weeks.
As soon as the bell rang, I jumped out of my seat and dashed to the door. I ran to catch up to Kaithlyn and Veronica. They were both chit chatting about their double date tonight.
Kaithlyn was especially excited. She believes that her and John will take their relationship to the next level. I'm not entirely sure what that means, and I'm not sure I want to know.
Veronica was going with her new boyfriend called Jack. Her and Stu had broken up a few months ago. She was devastated until she met Jack at some sort of public festival several weeks ago. I haven't met him yet, but she's been swooning over him ever since.
They've been trying to get Paul and I to go but we had other plans. Boring ones, though, but still plans.
"Pleeeease? Just this one time?" begged Kaithlyn.
"I told you before: Paul and I have other plans for tonight," I say. We were really just going to study, but I wasn't going to admit that.
"C'mon, Julia. Ye can finally meet Jack for the first time," Veronica says. She pulls on my arm and gives me the same look whenever I don't do something.
"Maybe next time okay?" I asked, hoping they would agree.
She rolled her eyes. "Fine. But ye never come anymore," she says.
"She's right, ye know," Kaithlyn agrees.
Now that I realize it, I never come anymore. They are right. I used to go all the time but that changed for some reason. Now I want to make it up to them.
"You know what? I'll go. I just need to ask Paul he'll come though," I smiled.
Their eyes lit up. They both gave me a hug. To be honest, I didn't think it was that big of a deal. This was the first time I was going out with them in months. Of course it was a big deal.
"Will ye really?" squealed Kaithlyn. I nodded.
We linked arms like they do in movies. It totally felt like a movie. We went to Kaithlyn's house where her mom had baked us cookies. We did our homework as we ate cookies and talked about our boyfriends and loads of other stuff.

I rang up the phone. I heard breathing on the other line then a voice said, "Hello?"
"Hey, Paul," I say.
"Hello, Julia. How is my lovely girlfriend today?" he says sweetly.
I feel myself blush. "Fine, actually. I wanted to ask you so something."
"All right."
"So tonight Veronica and Kaithlyn are going on double date , and they wanted to know if we would join them. Do you wanna go?" I ask.
"Do we 'ave to?" He didn't sound up to it. Well I wasn't either at first.
"Well, I could just go by myself if you don't want to..." I say trailing off. I wanted to sound like I was disappointed in him.
"No, no. I'll go with ye," he says quickly. I knew it would work.
"Great."
"Do ye want me to pick ye up?"
