Chapter 21

"Hey, Nico?" I feel a nudge in my ribs whilst I was sleeping I opened my eyes and rolled over to see Alfie

"Yeah?" I manage to say yawning

"I was thinking-" he began, but stopped and looked me in the eyes

"If we can all go out to see my family today?" He managed to say with a huge sigh of relief

"Are you sure?" I ask him sitting up and taking his hand which interlinked with mine

"Well now I have cancer I want to make a way past what happened and to spend time with them with Emmy too" I could tell by his words he wanted this even if it was a scary thing for him to do

"Yeah of corse we can Alf!" I tell him throwing my arms around his shoulders

"Right I'm going to ring my dad" he says releasing me and picking up his phone "wish me luck!" He laughs before leaving the bedroom

Whilst I waited for Alfie I checked on my daughter who was awake and ready, "shall we get you bathed and dress?" I tell her picking her up cradling her she waved her hand around and found my necklace from Alfie that he got me at Christmas

"Your daddy got me that!" I told her as I began to fill up the sink,

As I'd finished filling up a bath for Emmy Alfie returned back from his phone call

"So how was it?" I ask him

"They are happy to have us round"'he sighed with relief

"That's amazing news!" I say kissing his cheek , he'd noticed that I was giving Emmy a bath

"I'll leave you to get her ready I'm just going To fix up something to give to my dad" he told me before leaving the flat

I'd got Emmy in a cute little floral dress with a tiny jacket and tights and some pick baby shoes I can tell you she looked adorable

For myself I wore some patterned pants and a black T-shirt with some heeled boots, when I was doing my makeup Alfie arrived back home

"I'm back?!" He shouted as he came into the bedroom

"You ready?" I asked him as  I finished my makeup

"Yeah, I'm going to get Emmy in the pram"

I watched as he and his daughter bonded and for a moment the cancer was gone and nothing seemed to be wrong with him, he just seemed like Alfie?!

We arrived at the nightingales house or otherwise known as the dog. We walked into the pub and was greeted by neeta I pushed the pram over to the back

"Hello guys!" She says and welcomed us with a hug

"Come on up your dad and siblings are up there" she told Alfie so we walked up and entered the room everyone's eyes locked on us

"Alfie!" Mac says running over and giving his son a hug as did Ellie Nathan and James

"OMG! She's so cute!" Ellie says cooing over Emmy who was asleep in my arms

"Want to hold her?" I ask as she drooled over the little girl

"You bet I do!" She exclaimed as I handed over Emmy "aren't you just the cutest?!"

I walked away from Ellie and Emmy and went to see Alfie who was talking to his dad Mac was unwrapping the gift Alfie had brought him

"Aw this is lovely!" Mac says showing me the photo in a frame of me Alfie and Emmy all smiling on a day that we went to the beach last week

"Now let me see my granddaughter" he takes Emmy of Ellie and smiles and began to cry a tear down his face

The day went on and everyone seemed to be getting along well and laughing and joking, Alfie needs his family right now especially now he's been diagnosed.

"This is Barry my best friend growing up! Barry this is Emmy!" I hear  as I walked past the bedroom that belonged to Alfie's. I looked around the door to see Alfie I front of his lizard tank and holding Emmy down to his height,

I pulled my phone out and took a picture, something that a moment like that he can't forget

"Emmy one day Barry will be your best friend too!" I hear Alfie say as he kisses the baby's head

"I hope I live to see you to playing out on the carpets like I used to do when I was little!" I noticed a tear run down his face

"And I'm going to fight this-" he carried on "I'm going to survive" I cried at Alfie's emotion but left him to have a moment to himself

"It was a good night!" Alfie says as we walk back to my house"

"Yeah it was, I think Emmy enjoyed-" my sentenced was stopped when I heard something

"Nico!" A male voice called me from behind I turned around and saw a tall man with dark brown hair running towards me
