I would literally do anything in order not to talk to Cain. Everything about him screamed danger and danger usually meant "stay away".
"We meet again, princess." He said, smirking as he neared me. I was standing in by a bookshelf with a selection of various poems.
"Princess?" I repeated, my voice filled with disgust.
"Isn't that what you are? one of a kind, isn't that a princess?" He said, tilting his head wearing a sweet smile. Rather a fake smile.
I kept my lips shut humming and nodding in response.
"So, should I assume you've gotten a good look at the school?" He asked keeping up a conversation with me.
"How could I? It's humongous." I replied trying to avoid making eye contact at any cost. He let out a slight laugh.
"That is true. Then do you mind having me as a tour guide?" He said forming the greatest smirk. His smirk was obviously hiding a hidden motive.
"She doesn't need a tour guide." A low voice sounded as I felt someone grab my arm. I found myself behind a broad back. I peaked out from behind my shelter to see whose back it was. To my surprise it was Dwight who had decided to come to my rescue. My gaze went towards Cain who wore an angry expression, grimacing.
"I see you've already gotten your hands on the human." Cain growled. Dwight did not answer Cain's remark. Perhaps for the better.
"Hm? Not intressted?" Cain said smirking.
"lame." Dwight said under his breath as he turned around to leave.
"huh?" was the only sound I could let out when he grabbed my wrist and pulled me after him which made me yelp.
"Yeah, just run away." I heard Cain yell after us. I tried to turn around as I was dragged and noticed how Cain was getting several stares. Students surrounding him staring him up and down with a frown. Serves you right, I thought as a small smirk formed on my lips. Dwight continued to drag me down several aisles and my wrist begun hurting and my breath quickened due to how fast we were walking. When would he let go? Won't this library ever end? I thought as I tried not to fall over my own feet.
"I think you can let me go now." I breathed thought I did not receive any answer. We turned another corner amongst the shelfs. We entered an empty aisle. My annoyance took the best of me and I tried to halt. I couldn't come to a full halt though it got his attention. By his own accord he stopped and turned around to look at me with wide eyes.
"What is it?" he asked as if nothing were wrong which left me astonished.
"What is it? First of all, you literally dragged me after you, secondly, you didn't listen to me. Also, you hurt me." I explained, grateful that I seemed to have his full attention. After I had given my little speech his gaze went towards my wrist, still held tight in his grip. He let go of me and cleared his throat, looking away.
"Sorry." he muttered almost looking embarrassed.
"So, what are we doing here?" I said, wanting to change the subject, not only for my sake but for his. He obviously didn't enjoy this situation. He seemed to appreciate my effort by turning towards me again.
"You need to know what to do once you experience the changing symptoms. And if we have the time we should do a schedule." He explained.
"Is it going to be difficult?" I said feeling worry grow in my chest.
"Why? You're not up for it?" Dwight grinned.
"I didn't say that." I remarked, staring at him bitterly.
"Whatever." he retorted as he shrugged. I glared at him as he took up the staring contest. After a few seconds I let out a sigh and rolled my eyes. Clearly we weren't going anywhere with this.
"What is first on the list then?" I said, placing my hands on my hips.
"herbs." he replied.
"herbs?" I repeated bewildered. He turned around and begun walking, slower this time. I followed him.
"Us vampires do not tolerate human medicine, therefor we use herbs." Dwight explained whilst tracing the books with his fingertips as we walked down the between the shelfs. I only hummed response as well as I was nodding, knowing he couldn't see me. We turned at the corner to find a table surrounded by four chairs. Dwight approached one of the chairs and I mirrored his movement towards the chair opposite him.
"I guess the headmaster told you what symptoms there is?" He reaffirmed with me to which I nodded in response.
"What did he tell you about sunlight?" He questioned me leaning over the table folding his arms as I sat straight up putting my legs together.
"Not much actually, just that vampires can't stand sunlight therefor you have to, eh ... drink something?" I said, frowning seeing as I couldn't remember the headmasters words.
"The blood of a human as well as the blood from the red orb." Dwight added to my sentence.
"Yes, exactly!" I exclaimed wide eyed as I rose one finger in the air. I noticed Dwight looking down making his fringe cover his eyes as well as he had risen his hand to cover the lower part of his face. I blinked in confusion. Is he okay? Should I call for someone? I thought and swallowed.
"Are you ..?" I mumbled as I leaned forward. Then I thought I noticed how his lips were curled upwards in a smile behind his hand.
"Dwight?" I asked looking a him through the hair which had fallen over my sight. I heard him clear his throat and just a second later he sat up straight wearing his usual expression, a straight line on his lips and his unwavering gaze. It must have been my imagination though I kept staring at him with my brows creased.
"Anything the matter?" Dwight prompted, raising his eyebrows.
