"Oh, you're here to ruin the fun?" Cain said and took a step back. Dwight didn't answer but arched an eyebrow, still staring at Cain. I wouldn't say I was delighted to see Dwight in the threshold but I sure were thankful. He was my escape. I didn't take much time to hang around but I turned on my heel towards Dwight, not looking back at Cain.
"Why didn't you attend class?" I said trying to sound casual. Dwight took a deep breath only to let it out and break eye contact with Cain.
"Didn't feel like it." He shrugged.
"Then why you're here now?" Cain sounded and gained both Dwight's and mine attention.
"That's none of your business." Dwight replied monotonously. Cain was about to answer but I cut him off.
"Did you need me for anything?" I asked hastily. Dwight turned to me again and our eyes locked. I tried to focus on everything but how freaking gorgeous he was. He then handed me a notebook.
"I've written down a few rules that are important to remember so I'll quiz them next week." He explained to which I just hummed in response while receiving the note.
"Yeah, that's it." He said and nodded. He was about to turn around but in desperations I grabbed onto his blazer. His gaze went towards my hand which held his fabric only to meet my appalled expression. Even though he was Dwight he was also my lifeline in this moment. I turned my back towards Cain and tried to explain my unwanted situation with my stare.
"You need help with something?" Dwight asked and a grin grew on his face. He knew I was desperate.
"Anything I can help you with, Princess?" Cain announced and I heard how he begun moving. I turned around vigorously which made Cain halt in his steps.
"No." I proclaimed.
"Only Dwight can help me with this." I continued on hurriedly. Cain inhaled but didn't let out any words.
"You hear that, bud'?" Dwight added with a playful tone. I felt his free hand reach for mine who still had his blazer in a tight grip. He made me let go only to entwine our hands together. I froze in shock. I wanted to yank my hand out of his grip and ask him what the hell he was doing. However, I noticed how Cain shifted uncomfortably as he grimaced. I bit down on my lower lip trying to conceal of uncomfortable I was.
"If there wasn't anything more to say, we'll take our leave." Dwight said and begun pulling me out from the room, not near as harsh as he usually do when dragging me around. As we left the room we received a couple of stares, not because of me being a human but because of our linked hands. We walked for a couple of minutes like this until we reached a hallway with a dead-end where only a few students were seen. Then, without warning, threw me up against the wall and captured me between his strong arms on either side of my shoulders. He stared at me with no expression, however, a smirk begun tugging at his lips. I swallowed nervously before I uttered any words.
"What?" I stuttered in a low whisper, tilting my head down, not wanting to make eye contact. His hand broke contact with the wall and found my chin and turned my face to meet his playful impish eyes. I blinked feverishly.
"You owe me." He then declared and his smirk grew wider. I wanted to oppose him albeit he had saved me, undeniably.
"What do you want?" I muttered.
"Oh, you'll know when the time comes." Dwight declared. He let his hands fall to his sides as he straightened his posture.
"See ya around, sugar." He said and winked mischievously. A knot formed in my stomach. If I didn't despise Dwight as much as I did I might have swooned. I stood there for a minute trying to compose myself. I then made my way towards the canteen, or at least tried. It felt like I was training to become a professional stealther rather than a vampire. I avoided anyone who seemed like they could attract Cain or Dwight, which seemed like everyone. Though, being a human in a school filled with vampire, it was hard to hide. I noticed most students made their way towards the same direction. I struggled to follow suit without being to suspicious. Seeing the light from the Canteen I relaxed for a few seconds only to be startled by a hand landing on my shoulder. Abashed I quickly turned around to make sure that I was safe from whoever.
"Oh, it's only you." I let out a sigh of relief when I noticed Leon's presence.
"You were expecting someone else?" He questioned, tilting his head.
"I were hoping to avoid either Cain or Dwight, by preference, neither." I replied, letting out yet another sigh.
"Trouble in paradise?" Leon joked. I gave him a look of 'are-you-kidding-me?'.
"Well, good thing I found you first." He said smiling, to which I nodded in response. He made a gesture towards the canteen and I followed. We entered and I noticed the red liquid. I took a deep breath and prepared myself mentally.
"You okay?" Leon asked and laid his hand on my shoulder. I looked up at him and forced a smile.
"We can eat outside you know, if you want to." He suggested. I was about to comply, then I noticed Dwight sitting further down the hall. If he saw me leave due to the blood he would have a fit. I composed myself and told Leon that it was okay. I followed Leon towards the desk to find a selection of blood bag. They were divided by blood type, female and male and freshness. While Leon made his decision one of the ladies behind the desk spoke to me.
"Oh my, aren't ya the human?" She asked and gained my attention.
"uh, yes." I answered.
"Just wait there darlin', I'll heat ya food." She said and disappeared once I blinked. I stole a glance at the blood bag Leon picked as he found himself next to me. Blood type B, female. I don't even know my own blood type, I begun to ponder.
"Wynda is getting your food?" He asked. At first confused by who Wynda was I wore an bewildered expression. When I figured he meant the lady I nodded.
"Yes, I wonder what I'll get." I said and jokingly hyped the situation to which Leon joined in. The lady, Wynda, returned with a tray where a small bowl of sallad together with a bottle of water as well as pasta with meatballs on a plate were placed. I tried to collect the tray as gracefully as possible over the desk. Leon turned around and I followed him through the canteen. I couldn't help but to let my eyes drift towards Dwight's seat. He was laughing together with his friends. I grimaced without even knowing. I tried to remove Dwight from my mind but it was with difficulty. I begun mull over what kind of blood Dwight preferred.
