I didn't answer at first. I didn't know what to answer. But I'd rather say anything than dying in this silence.
"It must ... be hard on you." I begun.
"I mean, being around me. Would you like me to walk a bit behind? That would be awkward. I've never thought about how I smell. Or rather how my blood smell. Maybe I should get I checked. Can you even get that checked?" I begun rambling on.
"Quinn." Leon interrupted my monologue and halted. I stopped a step after and turned towards him, swallowing.
"The way I discern your smell doesn't define who you are to me or how I see you. You are Quinn and I am Leon and what you are and what I am should not separate us." Leon spoke seriously. I took a deep breath and nodded.
"You're right. If it is no bother, I would like to keep walking beside you." I requested. His hand motioned me to the spot I'd previously been walking in. I smiled at him and received one back. I returned to his side and we were once again walking down the hall. We reached our dormitory where Nath and Maggie were waiting.
"What happened to you two?" Nath said, crossing her arms over her chest.
"I could say the same to you. As brisk as you two walked." Leon said, sounding so natural. We entered and were greeted by Mrs. Collins whose orange hair still seemed to defy the laws of gravity.
"I've left some food for you in the fridge dear." She smiled at me. I thanked her and we motioned towards the common area. I headed towards the fridge and noticed a brown paper bag right away. It was placed amongst cans. These were the vampires dinner. Maggie told me about them previously. They contained blood which were not hard to digest so you could sleep well. Two girls were seated in the sofa but when we neared one of them blushed really hard and left which made the other one follow.
"Cassandra still has a crush on you, Leon?" Nath asked as she took the girls seat. Maggie sat down next to her while Leon and I were placed in the other sofa.
"Have you guys ever talked?" Maggie questioned, making herself comfortable.
"A few times. But I don't know if she has a crush on me. I mean, she never speaks to me." He pondered.
"That's because she has a crush on you, right?" I stated, wanting Nath's and Maggie's agreement. Which I got.
"That is so obvious." Maggie said and nodded vigorously. Leon shrugged it off.
"You're saying that you're not interested?" Nath questioned.
"Not really no." He replied.
"Not interested in Cassandra or not interested in dating?" Maggie wanted to clarify.
"I mean, I have nothing against her nor the idea of dating."
"So you would date her then?" I wondered.
"Don't think so. I mean we've never really talked." He argued, slightly tilting his head.
"But you want to date?" Bath pressed.
"Sure, why not?" He replied and for some reason both Nath and Maggie were stunned.
"What's the occasion?" Maggie questioned, grinning. Nath smirked.
"Found anyone you like?" She questioned. If Leon's cheeks could be red, they would have been. His expression was stiff, his jaw was clenched and his eyes darted the room. Myself, I sat there as a living question mark. Didn't Leon date?
"Why are we even talking about this?" Leon said and abruptly stood up.
"I need to prepare for the game." He hastily let out and left. Nath and Maggie sniggered. I looked at them confounded. Maggie noticed and leaned over to talk to me.
"You don't know how many girls Leon has rejected. He says he's not cut out for dating and that he is waiting for that special girl and stuff." She explained.  My mouth hung as I nodded and straightened my position.
"I wonder who opened Leon's eyes." Nath said still a smirk lingering on her lips.
"We should probably get ready as well though." She continued and took a deep breath as she stood up. Maggie nodded in response and when she stood up she took my hand and pulled me up with her. We ascended the stairs to the girls dormitory and parted ways with Nath when we reached our room.
"What is there to prepare?" I questioned, furrowing my eyebrows when we entered.
"Uh, everything?" Maggie smirked. I didn't follow and I'm sure she noticed.
"At games we don't have to wear our uniforms!" She exclaimed. I shivered a bit. I've always seen the uniform as some sort of protection. Everyone was to be judged equally.
"You don't seem to thrilled about it?" Maggie said sounding confused. I knew for certain that Maggie did not share the same views on school uniforms as I did. So engulfing ourselves in a conversation that would go nowhere would be pointless.
"No, not all I. That's nice, having a change of clothes." I lied and sat down on me bed, not making eye contact. Maggie didn't answer and when she didn't I looked up. She stood by her bed with her arms on her hips wearing a defeated expression.
"Don't worry Quinn, no one will judge you. She then said. Was everyone here mind readers? I thought and shivered once again.
"A not too late for that, I'm already sticking out like a sore thumb." I said and shrugged.
"Then isn't it good to look nice if you already have everyone's eyes on you?" Maggie exclaimed. I bit my lip. Once again, not agreeing with Maggie.
"Just make the best of the situation!" She said and made her way towards me. She sat down next to me and grabbed my hands in her.
"Besides, this could be an opportunity to impress on Dwight." She continued. In shock I pulled my hands back.
"What?" I spouted.
"Oh, come on. There must be something." She grinned
"Something? More like nothing." I emphasised.
"Isn't he good looking though?" I didn't look at her but I could hear her grin.
"Is good looks everything?" I disclosed.
"No ... but a great part of it."
"Either way, if you're not confident in your wardrobe you can always borrow some from mine."
