"You called?" was heard and it was undoubtedly Dwights voice. However he didn't move a muscle.
"I heard you had escaped?" I said trying to sound nonchalant albeit he noticed my concern and grinned at it. He scoffed.
"I wouldn't say escaped." I looked up and he still had his eyes closed, leaning back.
"Then what would you say?" I questioned.
"Healing in a more natural environment." He murmured.
"I don't think climbing trees is healing in any way." I shrugged as I lowered my gaze. Bending my neck to look up at him who were laying on a branch ten meters up did hurt. I could hear him let out a slight breath of laughter. I looked up at him again as I heard him straightening his posture. He was now sitting up, his legs hanging by the side, facing me.
"I guess humans knows a lot about healing, since you are so fragile." He scoffed. There it was again, his despicable view on humans.
"Since you know that you should listen to me, because I am, as a matter of fact, a human." I said sounding way too bitter.
"Don't tell me I've offended you?" He was grinning and in a second he had jumped down the tree and was now just inches away from me. I could feel his breath hit me as a slight laugh left his lips. He was most likely grinning at my bewildered expression. I was most definitely not used to this speed of his.
"Offended?" I stuttered. He tilted his head as his gaze were sweeping over my face. What was he looking for?
"I'm just stating facts." I continued on whilst desperately avoiding eye contact.
"So am I." He said. I swallowed nervously. I didn't want to have this reaction to him. Still, I don't know if it's out of fear or out of attraction, is rather it not being the latter. Dwight shifted in his position.
"Did you need me for anything?" He then asked, changing the subject which I was thankful for. However I didn't have an answer to his question. Why did I run all the way here without knowing what to say?
"Hm?" He prompted. I opened my mouth to say something but I couldn't even form a comprehensible sentence. His grin grew wider and I didn't want to give him the satisfaction.
"Your friends! They were looking for you!" I finally let out.
"You don't have to scream, sugar. I'm right in front of you." Indeed you are, I thought as I, once again swallowed unwillingly.
"Well, what did they want?" He asked as he turned around walking towards the tree making me let out a breath I didn't know I had held.
"What they want?" I repeated confused.
"Didn't they send you?" He said and picked up the black backpack, which seemed empty, behind the tree.
"Isaac want you to do a check up." I blurted out quick, perhaps too quick. However, the only response I received was a sigh. He turned around and faced me as he flung his bag over his shoulder. He closed in and as I was preparing myself to take a step back he stopped just a few inches away.
"It's such a bother." He began, grimacing.
"Can't you do it instead?" He continued and before I could reply he had pulled up his shirt, exposing his chest. Instinctively my hand covered my eyes and in my darkness I could hear Dwight let out a slight laugh.
"I didn't think you would be this innocent." I let down my hands and to my relief; so had he.
"Did you think I was some impure, unvirtuous human?" I nagged, pouting. He didn't say anything but I could see him look at me with an honest smile. My heart begin to flutter. I had never seen Dwight with such a pure smile. Which did not seem fitting considering what act he had just done. I could feel my cheeks begun to flush and since I did not want him to feel even more superior I decided to change subject. I cleared my throat before I spoke.
"Still, you should go see Isaac." I promoted as I folded my arms over my chest.
"Who's gonna make me?" He chimed as once again a grin played on his lips. I pouted as I stared at him.
"How scary, how vicious. You'll scare the hell out of a vampire." I enjoyed this unexpected playful side of Dwights. I never thought, in my wildest dreams, that I would have a essentially normal conversation with him. I wonder what changed? Was it the kiss? Once again my mind drifted towards impure thoughts containing Dwight. Albeit he did seem more friendly he would never see me as an equal. Probably never as a vampire, since I was not "pure".
"Are you even listening to me?" Was something I suddenly heard. I came back to reality and saw Dwight with a raised eyebrow.
"Sorry, what?" I stuttered.
"I said ..." he begun, making it clear that he did not like to repeat himself.
"It seems like I've completely misjudged you. I didn't think you would be a ditcher either." He continued. My eyes widened as I realised whom I left.
"I should go." I said as I was about to turn around but I felt his hand around my wrist and I was stopped.
"I think it's more embarrassing for you to show up late than coming up with an excuse as to why you didn't show up at all." He said and shrugged.
"I'm not late. I just need to go." I said filled with guilt that I had just left Leon.
"Can it be? you left in the middle of the lesson just to find me?" He did indeed like the idea of that.
"I would never." I said, finally reclaiming my wrist.
"I didn't completely misjudge you then." He smirked. I scoffed.
"Then what is so urgent that you must run away from here?" He questioned. I bit my lip. He would be all too pleased if he knew I had left Leon just to find him.
"Don't tell me ..?" He begun. It felt as if he had read my mind.
"Did you leave your chummy friends? Without telling them?" As I thought, he was looking too pleased.
"You've must have been worried about me." He was even sounding pleased.
"Which was in vain." I rolled my eyes and turned around once again but once again he grabbed my wrist.
"Look, seriously. We have to talk about this habit of yours." I stated as I locked eyes with him.
"What about it?" He said as he released his grin once he knew I would stay.
"You don't have to grab me every time you want me to stop, you can just talk to me." I tried to persuasive him. He let out a slight groan.
"But your human reaction is so slow. It's much faster to stop you my way." He was complaining.
"Does everything have to go so fast then?" I questioned.
"It might be fast for you but for me it's a normal pace." He argued. I rolled my eyes and sighed. As my gaze drifted I noticed the table which we've had been seated at previously.
"I guess that's how you found me." He said when he noticed where I was looking.
"Which proves that you were staring at me during that time." I turned my head and I knew I was blushing profusely. He wasn't looking at me but I could tell he knew how embarrassed I was since a grin was plastered on his face.
"Oh, looks like someone else found our spot." My heart did skip a beat when he said our spot. Had it became ours? I turned my head once again only to find Leon stand by the window looking down at us. My mouth dropped in shock as well as my eyes widened. I couldn't make out his expression but I didn't stand around to check. I was about to start running but once again Dwights hand had found my wrist but this time did he not only stop me but pulled me towards him. I though I made out the words "you owe me." before my lips crashed with his.
