Dwight had asked me to stay seated as he approached a shelf and begun searching for a specific book. As he searched I placed my elbow on the table, resting my head on my hand. I couldn't help but to gawk at his broad back, he was indeed one of a kind. I guess in Cain's dictionary he would be a prince then? Since I, being one of a kind, would be a princess. A prince and princess, huh? I thought slowly drifting away to an imaginary land. Though my thoughts were interrupted by books slamming down on the table startling me. I recovered from my dream state and my eyes meet Dwight's who expressed incomprehension.
"Are you lost or something?" he inquired as he sat down. I straightened my position and fixed my hair, not that it was necessary.
"What are these?" I asked, ignoring his question.
"Your homework." He replied simply.
"What?" I exclaimed wide eyed, staring at him. Though I was the student who always made sure her homework was submitted long before deadline. This didn't mean I rejoiced every time our teacher handed out assignments. In fact, I get quite stressed out about homework, I can't find any peace knowing that I have an assignment due whenever. Therefor I will be quick to do my homework thus I won't have to worry or stress.
"Surely, you didn't think turning wouldn't need some knowledge?" Dwight grinner, letting out a small chuckle. As a matter of fact, I tried not to think about turning too much, or what efforts I needed to put in. It still seemed so unbelievable. Me, being a vampire that is.
"Can't you just ... tell me what to do?" I asked slightly tilting my head.
"You expect me to be there every time you experience a turning-symptom and tell you what to do?" He countered my question with another question as he lifted one eyebrow.
"Not a good solution I take it?" I replied as I made a slight nod, looking down.
"Nope." He said as he made himself comfortable in his chair.
"Then ... what do you want me do to?" I asked.
"Read these books." He replied and sighed. I stared at the pile of books in awe. There were at least five.
"All of these?" I questioned as my eyebrows rose.
"Yeah." He stated, not looking up at me but at his fingers. I scowled.
"Where do I begin?" I muttered, frowning.
"Maybe with the top one." He replied, this time staring out the window at the scenery, which contained an endless forest. I sighed in resignation. Despite the fact that he was an annoying jerk I did as he said. I reached for the top book and grabbed it. Herbs for the healthy it said. I chuckled, how old fashioned.
"You find studying amusing?" Dwight wondered as a smirk played on his lips. He regarded a me with a playful stare and I could feel my cheeks turn scarlet. I snapped out of my embarrassment, clearing my throat and tried to concentrate. I stuttered but I still managed to provide a coherent sentence.
"Why would I like homework?" I questioned trying to keep my eye contact with him without blinking like an idiot. He shrugged.
"It looks like you're have a great time." He answered.
"I just think the titel is pretty funny." I reckoned and shrugged and waved my hands around awkwardly. He reached over the table in order to seize the book from my grip. As he did his fingers slightly touched mine which sent shivers up my spine. He sat back down and stared at the cover, slightly humming as nodded.
"Are you having a great time?" I asked out of the blue, immediately regretting opening my mouth. Why would I ask that? Did my brain malfunction? I thought of ways to cover up my mistake but he beat me to it. He scoffed.
"Like I could have a great time with you." He replied shoving the book back to me. My mouth fell open and I stared at him. Though we did not make eye contact, since he once again had turned his gaze towards the scenery displayed through the window. I scowled once more and did my best to ignore his statement. I opened the book and read the introduction written by the author, James Milter. Apparently Milter was wholly committed to herbs. He explained how he early on begun experimenting with different kind of herbs. I read the introduction and turned the page and found the table of contents. There were several chapters focusing on different use of herbs as well as where to find them. Since Dwight had not told me where to begin I turned to the first chapter. How to deal with colds, though I did not believe knowing how to cure cold with herbs were significant for my turning, I read it. I read it because Dwight had not given me any other instructions. Meaning he only had to spend more time teaching me the relevant matters, which I knew for sure he wasn't too keen on. I took a peek at Dwight through the strands of hair which had fallen before my face. I kept staring in disdain. He was perfect, what had he done to deserve such perfect features? I frowned.
"You might as well take a picture." He said, not turning his head. I blinked frantically trying to reassess myself.
"I wasn't looking." I said, trying to sound as disinterested as I could. He sneered at me.
"Sure, sugar." He murmured. I grimaced and then decided to ignore him. I continued to read the first chapter as we sat in silence.
