Chapter 13

*Megan POV*
I'm woken up at 8:30 the next morning to my phone ringing. I grab it and answer it.
M-hello
D-hi is this Megan the sister of Lucas
M-yes this is she who is calling
D-I'm the doctor who has been looking over your brother. We found an antidote and gave it to him. He should be better in a few days but we would like to keep him here till he is better. You and your siblings can come visit him if you want.
M-thank you so much. Have a great day
D-you too
I hang up and say a quick prayer thanking God for healing Luke then go downstairs. I go to the kitchen to find my brothers eating. Fallon is feeding Owen some baby food and Chad is trying to get Nick to eat.
"Well good morning Megan what has you so happy" Chad asks
"Luke is better. They found an antidote and gave it to him. He'll be released in a few days" I say
"Awesome. I'm so happy for you" Chad says
"Can we go see him" I ask
"Yes. But first your brothers need to eat their breakfast and you need to eat something as well" Fallon says
"Ok" I say
I sit down and Chad hands me a plate with some pancakes.
"Thank you" I say
"No problem" he says
I quickly eat then run upstairs to get changed. I go downstairs and Nick runs over to me.
"Bubby" he asks
"Yep. We're going to see him now." I say
"Yeah" Nick cheers
I pick him up and wait by the door for Chad and Fallon.
"You in a hurry or something" Chad asks
"I just really want to see my brother" I say jumping up and down slightly.
"Chill out" Chad says
"Chadwick hush up. She's excited to see her brother. Let her be" Fallon says
"Thank you Fallon" I say
"No problem now let's go" Fallon says
We go outside and get in the car. Chad drives to the hospital. We get there and I get Nick out then go inside.
"Lucas Jackson" I say
The front desk tells me the room and when the others get inside we head to the room. We stand outside the door and Fallon hands me Owen.
"We'll wait out here. Go in and spend time as siblings" Chad says
"Ok" I say
I go in and close the door behind me. I go over to the bed and place Nick on it.
"Hey Luke" I say
"Hey Meg. Hey Nick" he says
"Hi Bubby" Nick says
"Mom and grandma got arrested yesterday and she can't have custody of us anymore" I say
"What happened and what about you guys" Luke asks
"They were abusing me. They tied Nick to a chair and Owen was kept in his crib. But Chad and Fallon adopted us. I'm not sure about you though. Let me go ask." I say
I hand Owen to Luke and leave the room. I go to the waiting room on the floor and find Chad and Fallon.
"Chad what's going to happen with Luke" I ask
"Um I'm actually not sure. I don't know if the social worker knows about Luke or not. I'll call him when we get home." Chad says
"Ok" I say
"Megan it will be okay. Don't worry he won't leave you. If needed we'll adopt him too or I bet Caleb and Kelsey would adopt him" Chad says
"Alright" I say
I go back to the room and close the door. I walk over and sit down on the bed next Nick.
"So what all has been going on" Luke asks
"Not much. Jason is a lot more talkative. Tyler is looking at colleges already. Us girls are still crazy. Alan left the band and they found a new manner already. His name is Spencer Kane. That's about it" I say
"Spencer Kane? I think that's Brian's cousin" Luke says
"Nicole never mentioned him being her cousin" I say
"Brian said that the last time they hung out was when Nicole was three then they moved. Remember Nicole said they moved from Indiana to Pennsylvania." Luke says
"Oh right." I say
"Lukey" Nick says
"What" Luke asks
"We live with Chad and Fallon. It not scary there. Megan sleeps long though" Nick says
"Cool." Luke says
"Yep" Nick says
"So you're getting more sleep" Luke asks
"Um well I think it was just yesterday because I was just tired from fighting mom and grandma" I say
"Ok. You need to get more sleep though" Luke says
"I will don't worry. I don't have to worry about getting up to deal with then in the mornings so it should be easier" I say
"Good" he says
"Ok well we'll let you sleep. See you in a few days when you get to leave. Bye Bub love you" I say
"Bye sis love you too" Luke says
"Bye Lukey" Nick says
"Bye Nicky" Luke says
Luke kisses Owens head then hands him over to me. We leave the room then go to the waiting room.
"You good" Chad asks
"Yep" I say
"Alright let's head out" Chad says
Chad picks Nick up and we walk out. We go to the car and we all get in.
"Chad me hungwy" Nick says
"Ok. We'll stop somewhere and get lunch" Chad says
"Did you call the social worker yet" I ask
"I did it while you and your brothers were talking" Chad says
"After you and Chad drop us off at home you'll go and talk with them" Fallon says
"Alright" I say
We get to chick fil a and go inside.
"Alright Nick what do you want" Chad asks
"Me no know" Nick says
"He'll have nuggets" I say
"Ok. What do you want" Chad asks
"Chicken sandwich por favor" I say
"No problemo" Chad says
He walks off and Owen starts crying. I dig through the diaper bag and find a nimmy. I stick it in his mouth and he quiets down. I sing quietly as I'm rocking him and he falls asleep.
"You're a good singer" Fallon says
"Thanks" I say
Chad returns with our food and sits down.
"Thanks" I say
"My pleasure" he says
"Chadwick please don't. You know I hate that phrase" I say
"What phrase? You mean my pleasure" he asks
"Yes that one" I say
"Oh well" he says
"Oh boy. Days should get very interesting" Fallon says
"Why" I ask
"Yeah why" Chad asks
"You two like to wrestle each other, annoy each other. You two act like brother and sister" she says
"We do not" we say
"Jinks" I say
"Woah. Hold it" Chad says
"Nope. You can't talk" I say
He sighs but keeps quiet. Once we're all done eating I throw out the trash. I get back to the table and sit down.
"Chadwick" I say
"Chadwick" Nick questions
"That's Chad's real name" I say
"Chadwick" Nick yells
"Ha now I can talk" Chad says
"Oh well. I was just finding joy in calling you Chadwick" I say
He sticks his tongue out and I do the same to him.
"Ok children we better leave so you two aren't late" Fallon says
"Ok" I say
"Yes ma'am" Chad says
I pick Nick up and Fallon grabs Owen. We leave chick fil a and get in the car. We get to the house and Fallon and my brothers go inside. I move to the front and Chad takes off. We get to a building and go inside. Chad and I go to the front desk.
"I'm here to see michelle about the Jackson kids" Chad says
"Ok. She'll get you soon have a seat" the lady says
We go and sit down.
"Chad I'm worried" I say
"Why" he asks
"What if Luke can't stay in Nashville. What if we get separated?" I ask
"Don't worry I'm sure you won't" he says
"Ok" I say
"Chadwick Graham" a lady says
We stand up and go over to her.
"Hi I'm Chad Graham. This is Megan. Lucas's sister" Chad says
"Hello I'm michelle. Why don't we head to my office" she says
We follow her to her office and sit in chairs across from her.
"Ok so what exactly is this about" she asks
"When my brothers and I were abused my older brother was in the hospital. Therefore me and my brothers got adopted but he didn't so we want to know if Chad can adopt him or if someone else can" I say
"Well Chad do you have any open rooms" she asks
"No I do not. The two younger ones are sharing a room then Megan has her own room" Chad says
"Ok then I think it's best if he doesn't. But did you guys have someone in mind to adopt him" she asks
"Yes. My band mate and his wife" Chad says
"Ok why don't you go and call him and ask him to come so we can talk it over then get papers signed" she says
"Ok" Chad says
Chad gets up and leaves the office. I'm about to get up and leave when she asks me to stay.
"What are the ages of your brothers" she asks
"Two of them are 19 but the died in war. Luke is 17. Nick is 3 and Owen is now 8 months. I'm 15" I say
"When do you turn 16" she asks
"On Christmas" I say
"Why don't you guys go live with your dad" she asks
"Because he doesn't want us. That's why he told us to live with our mom." I say
"Are you sure he doesn't want all of you or is it just you he doesn't want" she asks
"What kind of question is that" I ask
"I'm asking if you are the slutty snob I know you are" she asks
"Actually I'm the only person who cares about my siblings besides my best friends and Chad. And it's people like you who make me wish I wasn't alive" I yell in tears
I get up from the chair and run out of the office. I run past Chad and outside. I find a tree and climb it. A few minutes later I hear noise and know that it's Chad.
"What happened" he asks
"She was interrogating me. She asked if we could live with our father. I told her he didn't want us. She said that he didn't want me because I'm a slutty snob" I say still crying
"Hey look at me. You are perfect. Even with all your imperfections you're perfect. You are not a snob or a slut. You are the most kind hearted teen I've ever met. You would do anything to protect your siblings. Now Caleb and Kelsey are on their way. When they get here I don't want you to go into the room. Just stay out here" he says
"Ok. Thanks Chad" I say
"No problem" he says
He gets down and I stay in the tree thinking.
*Chad POV*
I get down from the tree just as Caleb and Kelsey get here.
"What were you doing in a tree" Caleb asks
"I was talking with Megan. The social worker was interrogating her and then called her a slutty snob. This all happened when I was calling you" I say
"Ok. Let's go inside" Caleb says
We go inside and to the office. I knock on the door. Once we are granted entrance we go in and sit down.
"Hi I'm Caleb and this is my wife Kelsey" Caleb says
"Hello. So you are ok with adopting the brother of a slut" the social worker asks
"Megan is not a slut" I growl
"Chad calm down" Kelsey whispers
"Yes we are ok with adopting Luke." Caleb says
"Ok. All you have to do is sign these papers the you are good to go" michelle says
They sign the papers and she gives them the adoption certificate.
"Tell the slut bye for me" michelle says
"She is not a slut! You are not allowed to go around and call children names. Your job is to help kids out. Make sure they have a home so they know they have people who care about them. You aren't suppose to belittle them" I say loudly
"Chad let's just go" Caleb says
"I'm sorry but I was taught to not lie. So when there is something that is true I just got to say it" she says
I turn away and walk out the door. I go outside and start walking.
"Chad" I hear Megan call
I don't turn back I just keep walking. Clenching and unclenching my hands.
*Caleb POV*
Kelsey and I grab the papers we need then run out after Chad. We get outside and see Megan climbing down the tree. She calls out to Chad but he keeps walking. I go over to Megan and drape my arm over her shoulder.
"What happened" she asks
"He got mad. Someone was picking on someone close to his heart and he got angry. Instead of violence he walks away." I say
"Was it me" she asks
"Yeah. But it's not your fault. Don't listen to anything the social worker said. You are beautiful inside and outside" I say
"Thanks Caleb" she says
"No problem. Now why don't we go and hang out with the Rotenbergers and sir Stamper" I say
"I'm going to tell him that you called him sir stamper" she says
"Megan I would usually say go ahead but we don't need Joey's ego any bigger than it already is" Kelsey say
"Ok fine" Megan says
I pull my phone out and send Chad a quick text.
Ca-taking Megan with me and Kelsey. We'll probably be at Joey's

I put my phone in my pocket and we walk to the car. We get in and Caleb drives to Joey's. We get there and it looks like everyone is there. We get out and go inside.
"Where's Chadsy, Fallon, and your brothers" Joey asks
"Doing stuff" I say
"Ok" Joey says
"Ugh" Nicole says
"What" I ask
"I have to leave soon. My mom invited by cousin over for dinner tonight. Apparently he lives in Nashville. The last time we saw him was when I was 3" Nicole says
"Ok" Casey says
"I have to leave soon too. I have to go somewhere" Spencer says
"Alright" Joey says
"Dada I play outside" Jason asks
"Not now buddy." Joey says
"Ok" Jason says
We talk for a few minutes about random things.
"I've got to go" Spencer and Nicole say
"My mom's here" Nicole says
"My aunt is here" Spencer says
"Well this should be interesting" I say
