Chapter 25

*Megan POV*
Today's the case and I'm really worried. I woke up at 2:30 and just laid there. Finally after four hours I hear Owen cry. I get up out of bed and go to his room. I pick him up out of the crib and sit in the rocker. A few minutes later Nick wakes up and comes over to me. I pick him up and set him on my lap. I rock back and forth and hum quietly. Around 8:30 Chad walks in.
"You okay" he asks
"Just nervous" I say
"When did you wake up" he asks
"2:30. I'm scared Chad" I say
"I am too darling. I am too" he says
"What if we lose? What if we have to leave? I don't want to" I say
"I know you don't. We all love you and your siblings here" he says
"We love you guys too" I say
"Come on let's put Nick back to bed the. Go downstairs for breakfast" Chad says
"Ok" I say
He takes Nick and lays him back down in bed. I get up and follow Chad downstairs. I set Owen in his high chair then sit down at the table. Chad hands me a jar of baby food and a spoon and I start feeding Owen.
"Owen open up" I say
"No" he says
"Want food" I ask
"No" he says
"Please for me" I ask
"No" he says
I take the spoon again and hold up to Owen. He hits the spoon and the food flings on me.
"Ugh. I give up" I say
"What happened" Chad asks
I turn towards him and he starts laughing.
"Go get changed and I'll feed him" Chad says
I give him the jar and spoon then go upstairs. I grab some clothes and go to the shower. After my shower I get changed and then go back downstairs.
"Really? Sweats" Chad asks
"Please" I beg
"No. But you can wear jeans. Put on a nice shirt and you may wear a hoodie if you want" he says
"Ok fine" I say
I go back upstairs and change. I go downstairs and to the kitchen.
"Better" I ask
"Much. Your pancakes are on the table" he says
"Bacon" I ask
"Cooking it now" he says
I sit down and start eating. Chad gives me some bacon then sits down. He grabs the baby food and starts feeding Owen.
"How" I ask
"I don't know" he says
"Owen who do you love" I ask
"Owen" Owen squeals
"Wow selfish much" I ask
"No" Owen says
I finish eating and put my dishes in the dishwasher. I sit back down and steal a piece of Chad's bacon.
"Hey" he says
"What" I ask
"That's my piece" he says
"Oh well" I say
I take Owen out of his high chairs and set him on the counter. I use a wash cloth and wipe his hand and face then go out to the living room. I set him in his play pen then sit on the couch.
"Megan" I hear Nick yell
I get up from the couch and go upstairs. I go into the boys room and over to Nick's bed.
"What" I ask
"My stomach hurt" he says
"Do you want some water" I ask
"No. Sit with you" he says
I pick him up and go downstairs with him. He lays his head on my shoulder and wraps his arms around my neck. I sit on the couch and turn on the tv.
"What should we watch" I ask
"Sesame street" he says
"Ok" I say
I turn the channel and fix how Nick is sitting. Chad comes in and sits down in the couch.
"What's wrong" Chad asks
"His stomach hurts. Do you want to go get the thermometer" I ask
"Sure" he says
He gets up and comes back with the thermometer. I take Nick's temperature.
"It's 98" I say
"He should probably take medicine. Because his normal is like 97" Chad says
Chad grabs medicine and gives it to Nick.
"Megan we need to leave in 10 minutes" Chad says
"We need to get Nick and Owen changed" I say
"I'll do Nick if you want to do Owen." He says
"Ok" I say
Chad takes Nick from me and I pick Owen up. We go up to the boys room.
"Chad Owen won't let me put his shoes on" I say
"He doesn't need to wear them" he says

We finish changing them and I take my brothers downstairs while Chad and Fallon go to get dressed after Fallon ate breakfast. Once Owen and Nick are set on the ground the doorbell rings. I go and open the door.
"Luke" I say
"Hey sis. I decided I wanted to take my siblings today." He said
"Ok come in" I say
"Actually we have to head out" he says
"Ok. Chad my brother is taking me and the boys to the court house" I yell
"Alright bye. See you four there" he yells back
I pick Owen up and Luke picks up Nick. We go to his car and put them in their car seats. Luke starts driving. We get to the court house and go inside. A few minutes later Joey, Jewel, and the Rotenberger's show up. I go over to Joey and give him a hug.
"You okay" he asks
"Yeah. Just worried" I say
"It will all be okay. We'll all be there for you guys" he says
I feel someone grab me and pick me up.
"Caleb put me down" I say
"What" he asks
"Place me down please" I say
He sets me down and I give him a hug. After a few more minutes all we're waiting for is the Powell's. A few more minutes they arrived and we walked in. They went to their seats and me and my brothers sat at the table across from our dads table. A judge came in and the trial started.
"Ok Matt why do you want the kids to live with you" the judge asks
"I'm their father. Their mother got put in jail and before I could even act are found out they got adopted." My dad says
"Ok you children may speak now" the Jude says
"Our parents got a divorce and my dad kicked us and our mom out of the house. Then when our mom and grandmother are arrested children's services placed us in an orphanage. Therefore, Chad and Fallon Graham adopted me and my younger brothers and since there wasn't enough room for my older brother Caleb and Kelsey Grimm adopted him" I say
"We really don't want to go with our father. We haven't gotten to know him at all when we were younger and he doesn't really know about us." Luke says
"What about your other older brother Anthony Liam Jackson" the judge asks
"We don't have a brother by the name Anthony. Only Luke and Kyle but they died in the military" I say
We turn towards my dad and it looks like he's hiding something.
"Well he's 18" she says
"Dad do we have another brother" Luke asks
"Yes. You know that room down in the basement that you guys were never allowed to enter" he asks
"Yeah" I say
"That was his room. We didn't let you guys see him or meet him because he was a mistake. He wasn't planned" our dad says
"Wow so I have six brothers, a lying dad, an abusive mother and grandmother, what other secrets are there" I yell
"Woah calm down Megan" Chad says
"Alright I've heard enough. Give me ten minutes and I'll come back with the verdict" the judge says
As soon as she leaves I get up from my chair and run outside. I don't stop I just run until I get to a park. I find the tallest tree and climb till I can't no more. A few minutes later the guys are in the tree as well.
"What's wrong" Caleb asks
"I have a brother I never knew about and I do t know what's going to happen. I sort of want to meet him but I also sort of don't" I say
"Well first of all I think you should meet your brother" Chad says
"Why" I ask
"Because maybe he will be like the rest of your brothers and be really great and supportive and want to meet you too" Alan says
"Secondly all you can do is pray. None of us know the outcome besides God" Joey says
"We have to have faith in him. He has plans to prosperous and not to harm us. Plans to give us hope and a future. We have to put our lives in the hands of God. Let Him do His will." Spencer says
"Thanks guys" I say
"No problem" Caleb says
We get out of the tree then group hug.
"We better get back. We have three minutes" Spencer says
We break the hug and start running. We get back to the court house and go inside. I go up and sit with my brothers.
"You okay" Luke asks
"Yep" I say
He passes me Owen and I set him on my lap. The judge comes back in and she sits down.
"Ok so Matt we want your four here to meet Anthony. Then, I think it would be best if the younger two don't leave but I say that the older ones need to live with their father for a week. If they don't like it they can come back" she says
I look over at Luke and then at the floor.
"Matt you will take Anthony to the park near your ex-wife's mothers house." The judge says
She walks away and I get up and quickly walk out. I go to Chad's car and put Owen in then get in myself. Chad comes out carrying Nick with Fallon following behind. Chad starts the car and drives to his house. We get there and once the door is unlocked I run upstairs to my room. I lay on my bed and start crying into my pillow. Soon there's a knock at my door.
"Go away" I say
"Sis we have to go to the park to meet Anthony" Luke says
I get up from my bed and wipe my tears away. I go out and meet face to face with Luke and Dylan. I go over to Dylan and he wraps me in a hug. We all go downstairs.
"We'll be back. We're going over to meet Anthony. Chad, Fallon, Caleb, Kelsey do you four want to come with" Luke asks
"Chad and Caleb will go" Kelsey says
I grab Owen and Luke grabs Nick. We awake out of the house and follow Caleb and Chad to the park. We get there and see my
Dad there with another guy. I turn around but before I can walk off Chad stops me.
"Stay" he says
I turn back around and follow Luke over to our dad.
"Hi dad" Luke says
"Lucas Calisia this is Anthony. Anthony this is Lucas and Calisia" our dad says
"Luke" Luke says
"Megan" I say
"Liam" Anthony 'Liam' says
"Ok ok enough chit chat. You two need to pack your bags and meet back here in an hour we need to leave and catch a plane. I got a new job and we're moving to Australia" our dad says
"No o don't want to go to Australia" I say
"Megan just do what dad says" Luke says
"Wait Liam hasn't met our little brothers" I say
"There's more" Liam asks
"Two more. Nick and Owen" Luke says
"Nick is four and Owen is 1" I say
I pass Owen over to Liam and he smiles.
"Who you" Nick mumbles
"I'm your older brother Liam." Liam says
"Yeah nuther brother" Nick squeals
"Are there more" Liam asks
"Well we had two other older brothers Kyle and John but they died while serving in the military" Luke says
"Oh wow" Liam says
"Let's go. We now only have 30 minutes" our dad says
We say bye to Liam and go back over to Caleb and Chad.
"We heard" Caleb says
Luke and I hand our brothers off and run back to the house. I run up to my room and he goes outback. I quickly pack my bags as tears are running down my cheeks. Ten minutes later there's a knock at my door.
"Go away" I say
A few seconds later I hear the door open.
"What" I ask
"I heard you're going to Australia" Nicole says
"And that you leave in like 15 minutes" Casey says
I finish packing and walk over to them. We group hug and cry together. A while later Chad comes in.
"Megan you have to say your last goodbyes then leave" he says
I nod my head and the girls and I pull apart. We then follow Chad downstairs. I hug the wives and Jewel first. I then hug Spencer, Alan, the little girls. I then hug Casey and Nicole's sibling. I move on to Joey and Caleb. I say goodbye to Casey and Nicole again then move into my brothers and Chad and Fallon.
"Bye Fallon I'm gonna miss you" I say
"I'm gonna miss you too but we'll see you both again and maybe even your other brother" she says
"Bye Chad thank you for everything you've done for me and my brothers" I say
"It's no problem. I love and care about you. Remember that." He says
I hug him and then give Owen a hug.
"Bye Nicky" I say
"Bye bye" he says
I hand him off to Fallon then go over to Dylan. He embraces me in a hug and kisses my forehead.
"I'll miss you" I say
"I'll miss you too." He says
"Bye" I say
"Stop saying bye. We'll see each other again" Dylan says
"Let's go Megan" Luke says
I pick up my bags and follow him out the door. We walk across the street to the park and meet up with our dad and brother. We then go to my dads truck and put our stuff in the back. We get in and he drives off before I know it we're at the airport. We board the plane and I'm sitting with Luke and Liam. Out dad is rows behind us. Once the plane take off I turn my music on, put my earbuds in, and look out the window. I eventually drift off to sleep.
