Chapter 27

*Megan POV*
I wake up the next morning. I go downstairs and see Caleb sitting on the couch on his laptop. I go over and sit next to him. He closes his laptop and sets it on the coffee table.
"Good morning Caleb" I say
"Good morning darling how did you sleep" he asks
"Terrible" I say
"Why" he asks
"I couldn't stop thinking about my family" I say
"Do you want to talk about it" he asks
"I was just thinking about how I miss John and Kyle. Then Luke is injured and Liam well I didn't even know he existed. Owen and Nick don't really know our parents or our older brothers. My dad is horrible to us. My mom and grandma abused me and somehow this all leads back to being my fault." I say
"Megan in no shape or form is this your fault. Your younger brothers are having a better life. You have another sibling who loves and cares about you four. Luke will survive. He'll wake up. Kyle and John will always be with you. Don't worry about your parents anymore. Most importantly talk with Chad. He wants help you and be there for you. He cares about you and your siblings a lot." Caleb says
"I know but it just seems as if everything bad is happening to me and my friends. Why couldn't it happen to someone else" I ask
"Because then you guys wouldn't be where you are now" he says
"I guess" I say
"I know. Now what do you want to eat" he asks
"Nothing. I think I owe Liam an apology and Chad" I say
"Why Chad" he asks
"I might've exploded on him" I say
"Ok come on I'll drive you home. But promise me you'll eat something afterwards" Caleb asks
"Do I have to" I ask
"Yes" he says
We stand up and go outside. We get in the car and my phone rings.
M-hey Chad
C-hey Megan. We're heading to go see like if you want Caleb to drop you off at the hospital
M-ok I'll see you there
I hang up and Caleb nods his head.
"I heard" he says
He starts driving till we arrive at the hospital. We get there and go inside. I find Chad then we head up to Luke's room.
"I'm going to head out" Caleb says
"Ok bye. Thanks Caleb" I say
"Alright two at a time. Megan do you want to go in and take Owen with you" Chad asks
"Ok" I say
Chad passes Owen to me and I go in the room. I go in and like is hooked up to different machines and looks lifeless. I go over to the bed and sit down in a chair.
"Luke" Owen says
"Yeah that's Luke. He's hurt but he'll get better" I say
"Otay" Owen says
I just stare at him till tears start falling.
"I love you Luke. None of this is your fault. It's mine. I don't care how many times people say it isn't because it is. Liam is here too. He cares about you. Owen and Nick miss you too" I say
I leave the room and hand Owen over to Chad then go to the waiting room. I get there and see Alan and Dylan sitting there.
"Hey Dylan and Alan what are you guys doing here" I ask
"Well Caleb told us you guys came to see Luke and Alan figured you wouldn't be in there long so we came here if you wanted to talk" Dylan says
"Dylan wanted to come. I had to drive him here. Brycie was busy" Alan says
"Oh ok" I mumble
"What's wrong" Dylan asks
He comes over to me and wraps me in a hug.
"Nothing" I say
"Come on baby girl I want to help you" he says
"I don't want to talk about it" I mumble
He walks over to Alan. Whispers a few things between the two of them. Dylan them walks over to me, grabs my hand and drags me outside.
"Where are we going" I ask
"You'll see" he says
We go to a car and get in. Dylan starts it and drives off. We get to a farm and get out. Dylan grabs my hand and leads me somewhere.
"Dylan why are we at the farm" I ask
"Just come on" he says
I follow him and we get to the meadows where he asked me to be his girlfriend. He sits down and I sit down beside him.
"This is all my fault" I mumble
"What" he asks
"this is all my fault" I yell
"No it isn't. It all happened because God wanted it to. He knows you and your siblings are strong in your faith so he's testing you. He's testing all of us. He's letting the devil try and make us deny our faith" Dylan says
"Well I can't take this anymore" I cry
"Yes you can Megan. You are the strongest girl I know. You are able to survive 3 older brothers. Tackle many guys who are stronger and taller then you. You are able to help your brothers. You are an amazing, strong, beautiful girl" Dylan says
"No I'm not" I say
"Don't make me call Joey" he says
"Why him" I ask
"Because the other three already tried and I know you won't talk with Spencer. Plus I know Joey is very demanding. I know you'll listen to him" he says
I get up from sitting and run down the hill. I go to Alan's car and get in. Dylan get in a little bit after and starts it. He pulls out and starts driving. He stops the car and I instantly realize where he took us.
"Noo" I say
He gets out then comes over to my side. He opens the door and unbuckles the seat belt. He picks me up bridal style and walks up to the door.
"Dylan put me down" I say
"No because if I do you'll go back to the car" he says
He knocks on the door and a few minutes later Tyler opens the door.
"Casey isn't here. She's at Nicole's. Dylan why are you holding Megan?" Tyler asks
"Hey and we're not here for Casey. Megan needs to talk to Joey. But I'm free to play Mario Kart" Dylan says
"Ok" Tyler says
We go inside and Tyler closes the door. We go into the living room and Dylan drops me on the couch beside Joey.
"Oh hello Megan. Dylan said I had to talk to you. Let's go" Joey says
We stand up and I follow him outside and we continue walking.
"Joey we don't need to talk" I say
"Yes we do. You need to realize these things aren't your fault. We'll keep saying it till you believe us"  he says
"Joey am I strong" I ask
"The strongest" he says
"I haven't apologized to Chad yet" I say
"About what" Joey asks
"I yelled at him." I say
"He doesn't care. He loves and cares about you. Just don't worry about Luke at the moment. Don't worry about Liam at the moment. Don't worry about your family at all. Just worry about yourself. Come on I bet you haven't eaten at all today" he says
"You're right" I sigh
*Joey POV*
Megan sighs and I wrap her in a hug.
"Everything will be okay" I say
"How do you know? Luke might not live. The doctor said if his heart stops again he dies. My parents aren't around anymore. Liam barely knows who we are. Nick and Owen don't have their older brothers. Don't know our parents and I haven't made their life good either" she says
"Megan I bet others have told you this already but it's true. God has a plan through all of this. Just remember Jeremiah 29:11 'I have plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you a hope and a future." I say
"Yeah I know. They've all told me" she says
"Then why don't you believe me" I ask
"I don't know. I don't know why this is so hard" she says starting to cry
"hey calm down. It will be alright" I say
We get to chick fil a and go inside. We go to the counter and order. Once we get the food we go to a table and sit down.
"Thank you Joey" she mumbles
"No problem." I say
I pray then we start eating.
"Joey I need to tell you something" she says
"What is it Megan? You can talk to me about anything" I say
"Be-before Dylan made me talk to you and forced me to I thought about running to Chad's and cutting again" She cries
"Megan when was the last time you cut" I ask
"After you took me home when my dad called" she says
"Megan you're too beautiful too hurt yourself" I say
"No I'm not. I'm ugly and fat" she says
"And who told you that" I ask
"My self" she mumbles
"The only person bringing you down is you" I say
We throw our trash out then walk outside. Megan hops on my back and I start walking.
"Thank you Joey for talking with me" she says
"No problem darling. Now I won't tell Chad about this but you need to show him your scars. You can't be afraid to show them. It just means you're winning a war against Satan" I say
"Ok" she says
We get to my house and go in. She hops off my back and goes over to Dylan.
"Tyler is your sister home yet" I ask
"Yeah she's up in her room. Jason is in his room asleep" Tyler says
"Bye Joey and Tyler we're heading out" Megan says
"Bye" I say
They leave and I go upstairs. I knock on Casey's door and I get no reply. I open the door slowly and look in. I see Casey laying on her bed. I go over and sit down on the edge. She sits up but moves away.
"Come on Casey what's wrong" I ask
"I don't want to talk" she says
"Tell your favorite cousin what's going on" I say
"Joey Donny and Kenny are here" Tyler yells
"Ok" I yell back
"Will you talk to Kenny and Donny" I ask
"Both" she says
"Ok" I say
I get up and go to Jason's room. I go in and see him playing in his floor. He runs to me and I pick him up. I go downstairs and join my brothers and Tyler in the living room.
"Casey wants to talk to you two. She's in her room" I say
"Ok" they say
They go upstairs and Tyler takes Jason from me. He sets Jason on the floor and hands me a controller.
"You're on" I say
*Donny POV*
We go upstairs and knock on Casey's door.
"Who is it" she asks
"Kenny and Donny" Kenny says
"Come in" she says
We go in and sit on either side of her.
"what's the matter sweetheart" Kenny asks
"I had a boyfriend but he just called and broke up with me. Apparently he cheated on me for 3 years" she cries
"Oh darling I'm so sorry" I say
"Why didn't you tell Joey" Kenny asks
"I I don't know. I thought he would get upset or mad" she says
"He really cares about you. He seemed upset when he came downstairs. He really wants you to go to him in rough times" I say
"He's like your dad now. He wants to help and protect you" Kenny says
"He is not my dad. He's nothing like my dad. He will never be my dad" Casey yells
She gets up and runs out of the room.
"Nice going" I say
Joey runs in here and looks at us.
"Kenny explain" Joey says
"I might've brought up her dad" Kenny says
"Ugh. You two can stay or leave but I'm going to look for Casey." He says
He walks out and I just look at Kenny I slap the back of his head then walk downstairs.
*Casey POV*
I get outside and start running. I keep running till I find a park. I go over to the swings and sit on one. A few minutes later I hear someone walk up beside me and sit down.
"I'm not trying to replace your dad. I don't want to. That's one of the things that is impossible to replace" Joey says
"Then why did Kenny bring my dad up" I ask
"Because he wasn't thinking" Joey says
"I really miss my parents" I say
"I know you do. Your brothers miss them and so do I. They were great people. But Casey you have to promise me that you'll talk to me when something is wrong. I want to be able to help you." He says
"Ok" I say
"Good" he says
He kisses my forehead the gets up. I get up too and hop on his back. We walk home and go to the living room to watch movies.
*Chad POV*
Megan gets home and comes into the living room. She sits down next to me on the couch.
"Where's Fallon and my brothers" Megan asks
"At Caleb and Kelsey's" I say
"Ok. Can I talk to you" she asks
"Of course" I say
She rolls up her sleeves and shows me her scars.
"I'm sorry Chad. I had to. I was mad and stressed" she cries
"Megan calm down. It's okay. Last week I saw the scars but I didn't ask because I knew you probably didn't want to talk about it" I say
"I'm also sorry for yelling at you earlier. I didn't mean too. I was just... I don't know" she says
"You were tired, stressed, and angry but didn't know who to take it out on. Megan its okay. I want to be here for you and help you. You're strong but you don't have to act strong. Come to me for help. Talk to me. Now when did you cut" I ask
"After Joey dropped me off and I finished talking with you the night my dad called" she says
"Megan you're too beautiful to hurt yourself" I say
She looks down and rolls her sleeves down.
"Hey Megan look at me" I coax
She looks up and tears are streaming down her face. I wrap her in a hug and she cries into my shoulder.
"What's the matter" I ask
"I'm a mess. I've messed up so many times. My past is terrible. I've yelled at you. I've ran away from my problems multiple times. Why do you still help me" she asks
"Because. We all have messed up in our lives. We are all broken. We all need someone to fix us and put us back together. That would person is God. But he needs people to help others also. That's where me and anthem lights come in. We're here to help you girls. We want to help put your pieces back together" I say
"Thank you Chad" she says
"No problem." I say
"Daddy" I hear someone yell
I look up and see Nick running to me. I pick him up and set him on my lap.
"How was your day" I ask
"I played with Uncle Caleb." Nick says
"Did you have fun" I ask
"Yes I did" he says
"That's good" I say
"Why sissy crying" Nick asks
"I miss out brothers" Megan says
"Me too. Can we go see Liam" Nick asks
"No. You need to take a nap" Fallon says
"But I'm not tired" he says
"Yes you are" I say
I stand up with Nick and Fallon and I go up to their bedroom. We lay the boys down for their naps and go back downstairs.
"Chad I'm going to talk to Liam" Megan says
"Ok" I say
"What happened" Fallon asks
"She's struggling. She was getting better but she's struggling again. We meet with their social worker tomorrow to see if they like it here and it's the same one who called her a slut. That was the start of everything going downhill." I say
"We just have to pray. Did you consider about her doing therapy" Fallon asked
"I did but I think at this point she really just needs support and love from close ones" I say
"Ok" she says
"Why don't you get some sleep. You look exhausted" I say
"Ok" Fallon says
She goes upstairs and I sit on the couch. A few minutes later Megan walks in and joins me.
"Everything ok now" I ask
"Yep now be prepared to be destroyed in Mario kart" she says
"Oh you're on" I say
We each grab a controller and start racing.
"I beat you" she says
"You cheated" I say
"How did I cheat" she asks
"You tied a blind fold over my eyes" I say
"I did didn't I" she says
I'm about to say something when my phone rings. I answer and put it on speaker
M,Ch- hi Caleb
Ca-hey guys. I'm bored. Wanna come over
M-ugh I don't want to hang out with you dork
Ca-Spencer, Nicole, and Jess are coming
Ch-no Brian
Ca-he had to go back to college
Ch-sure we'll come
M-we're bringing Dylan
Ch-no
M-yes
Ca-Chad just do it
Ch-fine
We hang up and I turn the tv off.
"You ready" I ask
"Yep. I already told Dylan" she says
She gets up and runs outside I get up and run out after her. We get in my car and drive to Alan's. Dylan gets in and then we head to Caleb's. We get there and go in.
*Megan POV*
We go in and Jess comes over to me.
"Hey Jessie" I say
"Talk with Nicole about Luke she's upset but won't tell anyone" she says
"Ok I will" I say
I go over to Nicole and drag her outback.
"What" she asks
"How are you dealing with this whole Luke thing" I ask
"I miss him. And with him in college too I barely get to see him. But you have it the hardest. Your brother gets in a coma and you barely know your other one" Nicole says
"Yeah but everyone always worried about me. This is your boyfriend. This is Casey's other brother that is hurt. I just feel like I'm taking all the attention and you two getting left in the dust." I say
"Megan I'm fine. I mean I'm sad and I cry about it but I'll get over it. You need to stop worrying about others and worry about yourself" Nicole says
"Ok" I say
"Hey did you hear that Casey's boyfriend broke up with her" Nicole says
"She had a boyfriend" I ask
"Yeah. His name was Jake. But apparently he cheated on her for like three months then broke up with her" Nicole says
"Ladies the party has arrived" we hear
I turn around and see Joey.
"Joseph where is Casey" Nicole asks
"Right here" Casey says
Joey moves to the side revealing Casey she comes over to us and joins us on the deck. Joey goes back inside and Nicole and I just stare at her.
"What" Casey asks
"Who is it? Who do you like" I ask
"I might've stares at Liam long enough to realize I have a crush on him" she says
"You just met him" Nicole says
"He has a nice butt" Casey says
"Woah his sister is sitting right here" I say
"What if I say it about Luke" Nicole asks
"That's ok. You two are dating" I say
"You should just date Liam" Nicole says
"Yeah but he's three years older than me" Casey says
"Age doesn't matter sweetheart. If you love someone go for them" I say
"Oh gosh let's just go inside" Nicole says
We get up from the steps and go inside. We get to the living room and the guys are wrestling while Kelsey and Jewel are watching.
"What happened" I ask
"Typical Joey and Chad situation. They then ran into Spencer and Tyler. But Caleb and Dylan decided to join in" Jewel says
"Are we going to stop them" Casey asks
"No. We're going for ice cream" Kelsey says
Us girls go outside and just before I get in the van Liam walks up.
"Hey bro" I say
"Hey" he says
"The guys are inside" I say
"Ok see ya" he says
He goes inside and I get in the van. We get to cold stone and everyone goes in but Jewel stops me.
"Megan you ok? You seem a little out of it today" she says
"Yeah. I'm ok. I just didn't get much sleep and it's been a long day" I say
"Ok. Just know you can always come and talk with me" she says
We go inside and join the others. We get our ice cream and eat it. Once it's gone we get up and leave. We get back to Caleb's and go in. We join the guys on the couch and watch Disney movies the rest of the day.
