We take a break at one. My throat feels dry from all of the talking but my chest feels warm and happy and endlessly relieved.
I sit on the counter top while he makes pasta since neither of us had breakfast. He hums like he always does in the kitchen and every time he passes his taps my knee or something to that effect and I could just melt into a girlish puddle on the floor.
I hold Klose against my chest, resting my chin on his large furry head and let his purrs resonate through my chest.
"So, anything else I don't know?" He asks, leaning against the stove opposite me, tapping the metal pasta spoon-strainer-thing against his opposite hand idly.
"Um..." I smile into Klose's fur. "I love you?"
He steps across the tiled space between us, his hand moving to slip his fingers through my hair that's free from a ponytail for the first time in a week. His touch makes me shiver and lean into his hand like Klose would. He doesn't say it back, he doesn't have to.
His lips touch mine and he kisses me like we've got all of the time in the world. At least, until the timer goes off for the pasta and he moves away to empty it into the strainer.
I pet Klose again, the usually insufferable cat had stayed curled between us purring the entire time. He pushes his face into my hand and makes an impatient sound.
"I have spinach I could fry..." Cam is saying, peering into the fridge. "Or there's leftover cheese sauce."
"Cheese, please."
"'Kay." He tips it into a pan from under the stove and turns the stove knob with the flick of his wrist. "Remember when we used to have midnight picnics on the balcony and had to tiptoe to keep from waking Matty?"
"Matty, oh my gosh what ever happened to him?"
"I don't know, we didn't keep in touch."
"Shame."
"Mm... could you grab a couple forks?"
