I breeze through my multiple choice problems, going over my answers with only half of my concentration because Cam arrives tomorrow afternoon. I listen to the glide of pens against paper, the scritch-scratch of pencils attempting the essay questions before filling them in with the finality of ink.
"20 minutes left," Professor Kahn says, not looking up from her book. I turn my paper over because I'm not even checking my answers.
I'm nervous and terrified and excited. Gabriel taps his pen against the desk next to me, a staccato beat and more than one person sighs loudly.
"Hey Kat," he whispers.
"Shh," I reply, slanting my eyes over to him.
"Want to go get ice cream?"
Professor Kahn looks up with an arched eyebrow, and he smiles at her apologetically. She frowns.
I shrug in his direction, and he smiles brightly.
Cam's coming tomorrow. I smile back.
