I'll wait

Chapter 14

The two drove in silence once again. Damon didn't wish to say anything, after all it would only make the feeling worse when Kenny left. Damon's mind didn't race, in fact it stood still. There was nothing to think about. Kenny was going to leave.

"Kenny is going to leave" Damon's mind growled. The thought reverberated through his brain causing him to take his eyes off the road and stare at his hands on the wheel. Of all the people, why had it been a preacher's boy?

Kennys eyes followed the objects as they passed through the car window. Maybe this is how it was. Of all the people in the world why had it been a male whom he had fallen for? Kenny shot the thought away and shut his eyes. He'd probably never see Damon again so it wouldn't matter. These thoughts wouldn't matter. This feeling wouldn't matter. Everything was going to be as normal as was before he had met him.

Damon had rested his eyes back on the road and pulled into the parking lot that contained Kenny's car. Swiftly, Damon pulled beside it and put his own car in park. This would be the end of every thing he'd ever known. Was he really ready for it?

"Thanks for takin' the shot with me." Kenny said softly and opened the door. His voice lowered to a soft whisper as he added, "I hope to see you again..."

Damon nodded and let his one driving hand rest on the wheel as he looked over. "I'll see you later."

"I'll wait for later," Kenny said before shutting the car door before traveling to his own car.

"I'll wait for later." Kenny said softly.

"You like saying that don't you?" Damon said and opened the squeeky door.

"I like saying it, yes." Kenny opened his own door, "it lets the person know I'm not going anywhere."

The memory flooded into Damon's mind as he watched Kenny get into his car and drive towards his own home. His heart thudded in his chest and he was left alone in the parking lot.

What Damon didn't know is the next time he would see Kenny....

It wouldn't be as sweet.
