Damon drove in silence towards the destination. Snow had begun to fall on the asphalt and litter the world with white. The quiet made Damon begin to think about what he was doing. What if someone saw them? What would happen to them in a small town in the south? Did he really want to think about it?

"Damon?" Kenny asked looking over the strong jawline of the man who was in the drivers seat.

"Yeah?" Damon asked and glanced over.

"It's nothing" Kenny looked out the window and forced a smile upon his lips, "I forgot what I was going to say."

Liar Damon thought as he turned his vision back to the road "if you say so."

Silence.

Who knew silence could be so thought provoking? With every turn of the wheel came a new thought to Kennys mind. But they all came back to one question: what would his father say?

Damon pulled Kenny from his thoughts when he pulled into the parking lot of a restaurant. It was a simple building with a fancy sign beside it, Mama's Kitchen it read in big bold letters. It seemed to be just a simple diner.

"Best joint south of Kansas and west of Louisiana" Damon smiled and turned off the car, "place has the best bacon cheese burgers round"

"If you say so..." Kenny said and got out of the car with Damon close behind. The wind hit Kenny hard and knocked him into the car and agent a terrifying shiver down his spine.

"Here" Damon took off his brown leather jacket and wrapped it around Kennys shoulders, "its warmer than it looks."

"Thank you" Kenny said, a smile forming across his lips as he buried himself within the warmth of the jacket. He found himself walking a little closer to Damon with each step he took.

The diner was warm and comforting as Damon made his way to a booth with Kenny following.

"Evenin' Damon," a waitress said walking over to the booth. She wore a short pink skirt and a white blouse "the usual?"

"As always Liz." Damon nodded and leaned back in the seat. His eyes watched Kenny as he took a menu and slowly went over his options.

"And what 'bout you sweety?" Liz said looking to Kenny.

"Um...a cheeseburger." Kenny said looking up from the menu "and milk shake too please."

"Okay. I'll be right back sweetheart." Liz walked away and left the two alone.

"So," Damon said and ran his hands across his knees, "what have you been up to?"

"Waiting for my courage to grow so I could call a certain man.." Kenny said and looked at Damon, "what have you been doing?"

"Fixing cars at the shop and avoiding the phones."

Kenny looked down, "I'm sorry..."

"Don't be," Damon said and reached under the booth and grabbed Kennys hand.

Kenny blushed and looked down. Damon's hand was warm against his and every small movement sent small chills down his back. His leather jacket rubbed against Kennys shoulders.

Damon smiled and squeezed Kennys hand lightly. "Its nice to finally get to take you out."

"Yeah," Kenny smiled. His fingers interlaced themselves with Damon's.

"Here you boys go," Liz said and put a bacon cheeseburger infront of Damon and Kennys cheeseburger infront of him. "So how'd you two meet?" Liz asked as she set vanilla milkshakes infront of the two.

Kenny looked at Damon, his eyes searching to see if he could say anything. If they could trust her.

"He's the preachers son" Damon said plainly and took a drink of his milkshake.

"You rebel" she chuckled and hit Damon with the towel she was holding.

Kenny looked down at the mountain of fries on his plate and tried to ignore the conversation.

"We're not dating Liz. I took the one shot I had, it could be a hit and miss for all I know." Damon said and looked over at Kenny.

"If you say so boy." Liz rolled her eyes and patted Damon's head, "I'll see you soon Damon. Nice to meet you preachers boy."

Kenny nodded goodbye and the two began to eat their food.
