It was Sunday, four days since Kenny had gotten his car fixed. Church had let out and Kenny's father, the preacher, had asked him to take care of confessions for a minute. Kenny agreed and made his way to the small booth in the back of the church and sat upon the stool within it. All was quiet until the other side of the booth shuffled and someone settled into the seat.
"Forgive me father, for I have sin." The voice sounded familiar making Kenny look over. Damon stated at the wall his concentration showing on his face.
"What is your sin?" Kenny asked, intrigued.
"I have fallen for a boy who came to my work on Wednesday. His eyes just sort of found a way into my heart... I haven't seen him since." Damons words hung in the in the air and he rung his hands together.
"Your sin is forgiven." Kenny said dryly. He didn't want to think of Damon liking any male that wasn't him. When he spoke so fondly of a man it sent pain into his heart in unsteady pulses.
"Its alright then?" Damons eyes traveled up from his hands "its alright I've fallen for K-" Damon stopped himself and stood up. "Thank you," his voice was quiet and he slowly walked away from confessions.
Kennys heart pounded when he realized who Damon had fallen for. Quickly, Kenny stood and made his way to the front of the church in order to catch Damon.
Damon stood outside the church vowing to never go back inside. He had fallen for the preachers son of all people. He didn't stand a chance. The wind blew in his face, sending chills down his spine.
"Damon" a voice of growled silk called from behind him, "is that you?"
Kenny now stood in Damons vision. He wore black slacks, a grey button up, and a blue tie. Funny...the preacher in confessions was wearing the same thing.
"I was just leaving," Damon said and forced a smile on his face through the newfound pain in his chest, "nice to see you again-"
"I heard you in confessions" Kenny blurted out before lowering his voice, "I heard what you said."
Damon froze, his muscles grew tense, "what did you hear?"
"Everything...Every word."
"I have to go."
Kenny grabbed Damons arm before he could leave, "its fine really. Just don't go after Kyle. He doesn't like the whole gay thing..."
"What?" Damon's voice fell to a whisper, "Kyle?"
"You didn't say who you fell for completely." Kenny attempted a smile, "one could take a guess."
Damon stood, frozen for a moment, "I haven't fallen for a Kyle..."
Kennys eyes squinted as his hand fell from Damon's arm, "well who did you fall for with a name that begins with K? There's no one else in this town really that-" Kenny stopped when Damon's eyes told him everything he needed to know.
"I have to go," Damon said and turned around. He walked away from the church. Away from Kenny. Away from this small towns glares. But most of all he was walking away from his feelings.
