Damon sat in his home and kept pulling away when Kenny tried to put ice into his face. His face had began to swell. His lip was cut, his cheekbone bruised, and his nose still bleeding.
"Would you stop trying to put damned ice on me face!" Damon growled and shoved Kenny away "there's no fucking use."
Kenny hissed in pain as Damon struck his own wounds. "Fine."
Damon sighed and ran his hand down his face, "it just doesn't make any fucking sense! Who would fucking hurt their kid?! Who in their right fucking mind-"
"-Would you stop swearing!" Kenny snapped looking over. Tears were hidden behind his eyes. "Just stop....."
Damon stood, "and why should I?! Fucking hell!! You just don't fucking get it then!"
"Stop swearing!" Kenny cried standing up, "just stop cussing!!"
"What the fuck are you going to do about it?!" Damon took s step towards Kenny, his once loving green eyes filled with fury.
"Nothing..." Kenny looked down at his hands and sat back down.
Damon felt the anger drain from him as he watched Kenny cower and his shoulders shudder. Damon sighed and sat beside Kenny. "I'm sorry.."
"They always are," Kenny said plainly back. Warm tears fell on his hands.
"I love you." Damon's voice broke and he lifted Kenny's jaw to look at him, "I'm sorry."
"And what happens when you get so angry again?" Kenny stood up pulling away from Damon's touch, "what happens when you don't stop stepping towards me? What happens then? Huh!"
"It won't get that far," Damon said softly as he stood up, "it will never get that far."
"Sure!" Kenny snapped, more tears running down his face.
"I am not my father!" Damon snapped, he grabbed Kenny's arm and held him still. "Please.." Damon's voice grew quiet, "trust me."
Kenny paused, tears still running down his face. His breath began to turn to hiccups. "Yo-your father?"
Damon's eyes widened as he let go of Kenny's arm, "forget I said anything." Swiftly, Damon moved to the couch and ran his hand down his beaten face.
A knock came at the door before cherry red hair and blue eyes came through the door. Lisa.
"Kenny..." She said when she saw her son. Lisa wrapped him into a tight hug, "why hadn't you ever told me? Why hasn't I ever known?"
Kenny shook his head, "he said he was sorry. He always said he was sorry after and I always chose to believe him."
Lisa wiped tears from her own eyes, "you should have told me.." Softly, she wiped Kenny's eyes of his tears before her face became more stern. "And you" Lisa snapped turning to face Damon. She stomped to him and glared into his eyes. "How dare you speak to my husband in such a way!"
Damon sat a little straighter, "he wasn't going to hit Kenny again while I was there miss."
Lisa glared at him harder her stern gaze unfaltering "that's it? Not for your own pride?"
"I didn't hit back did I?" Damon raised an eyebrow. He sighed and leaned back in the chair, "I wouldn't have jumped in if it hadn't been to protect Kenny and I certainly would have fought back if it would have been for my pride."
Lisa's posture slouched as she hugged Damon. "Thank you" she said and squeezed him tightly, "bless you!"
Damon groaned in pain from the squeeze but, patted Lisa's back. "I did it because I love him, miss. No other reason."
Lisa hugged Damon one last time before letting go and looking at Kenny. "As you know I have to stay with your father," she shooed away Kenny with her hand, "it is the way of the church. But he will do nothing of the sort as he did to you now that I know." Lisa cupped Kenny's head in her hand a small smile falling on her lips, "you can always come home. But if you wish to stay here," she looked at Damon, "I could see why."
Kenny smiled and nodded, "I'd much like to stay here mother."
Damon looked up confused by his answer. After what he had said? Damon stood and watched Lisa leave, letting Kenny and him be alone.
"You stayed?" Damon asked.
"Indeed," Kenny smiled softly, "I'd wait a lifetime before I left you."
Damon watched Kenny walk back to the bathroom to get water to clean out his cuts. Damon sighed and turned towards the door.
There his uncle stood watching Lisa drive away
Damon felt every bone tense as he opened the door and stepped outside, "what do you wish to speak of uncle?"
"Quit that young fancy talk," his uncle said, "you look worse than a squirrel in Redneck country. The hell happened boy?"
Damon stood a bit straighter, "I did what was right and I advise you do the same uncle. I bid the good night."
Damon turned his back on his uncle. Damon felt a sharp pain in the center of his back that made him stumble foreword. Damon gripped the door frame for support as he tried not to fall into his home.
"I know your father didn't raise you to be that stupid boy!" His uncle snapped before throwing Damon off the porch into a rose bush. Damon choked trying to get air back into his lungs. "This isn't some stupid play where the underdog wins!" Damon's uncle continued and kicked Damon's side.
Damon whined and rolled trying to prevent another blow. His breath hitched when his uncle kicked his ribs. "Now you'll never defy me again will you?"
Damon coughed into his hand and was shocked when it became covered in his own blood. Damon wiped it on his pants and quickly sat up. Though, he couldn't stop coughing to get any words out.
"Damon?" Kenny called from inside the house as he looked for the taller male, "Damon?"
Damon's eyes flashed with panic when his uncle looked at the house. "You have that guy over again don't you?" His uncles voice was harsh as he stepped back towards the home.
Damon grabbed his uncles ankle and tugged him to the ground. The two wrestled I until Damon was pinned under his uncle. "You're weak," Damon's uncle said punching Damon. "How did you think you could win?" Damon was struck again, this time the blow landed on his temple. Damon's body fell limp against the ground as he was sent into the dark abyss of unconsciousness. Damon's uncle frowned and shook Damon. When he wouldn't awaken the uncle grabbed his jaw, "you're weaker than your mom ever was." With no more words the uncle slipped into the shadows.
Kenny opened the door and saw the scene. "Damon!" He screamed, fear clouding his eyes. Kenny raced as fast as his feet would carry him and fell beside Damon's laying body.
"Damon!!" Kenny cried and shook Damon's limp body, "Damon! Wake up Damon!!"
