Damon awoke in the hospital, his ribs wrapped in bandages. The window showed the reflection of his face. Damon's lip was split wide open on the left side. His faces swelling had gone down though his eye had grown black and barely opened when he told it to. A groan of pain passed Damon's lips when he tried to move. It was like a thousand knives stabbing his sides at once. Damon laid back trying not to move anymore. He looked to his side and saw Kenny asleep in the chair. How long had he been asleep?
Damon looked back at the ceiling. What had happened after he had passed out? Kenny wasn't in a hospital bed, that was good. How had he gotten away from his uncle though? Damon heard Kenny shuffle in the seat and cough quietly. Was Kenny okay? Damon's mind ran the question again and again. Was Kenny okay? Was Kenny okay? Was Kenny okay?
Kenny yawned and sat up in the seat. It looked like Damon hadn't moved yet. He'd been out for a day and a half and the number of hours he'd been under was growing. Kenny hurried away the thought and placed his hand on Damon's. "I love you," he whispered quietly to Damon and made his way to the window. The doctors had patched the small cut on his face, but it was nothing compared to Damon's wounds. Honestly, he didn't even know who had done this to Damon.
Damon watched Kenny but didn't dare move his head from where it was placed. He listened to Kenny move to the window. Damon's eyes trailed after Kenny as far as they could.
Kenny wrapped his arms around his own waists and looked out above the tops of some buildings visible from the second highest floor of the hospital. Kenny sighed and tried to prevent from crying again. The doctors had begun to fear Damon would never wake up, he could see it in their eyes. Softly, Kenny placed his head against the glass and shut his eyes.
Damon bit his cheek to ignore the pain as he rose to his feet. He walked softly to Kenny before wrapping him in his arms. "I love you too," Damon whispered lovingly in Kenny's ear.
Kenny shrieked from panic of sudden arms wrapped around his waist. His body tensed and froze. Slowly, Kenny looked into the window, hoping to catch some sort of reflection. Damon tightened his grip and laid a soft kiss on Kenny's neck. Kenny relaxed against Damon's touch and smiled softly as he tilted his head to one side. Damon chuckled and traced designs on Kenny's stomach.
"Lay back down," Kenny muttered, but "this can't be good for you healing.." He's awake! Kenny's mind sang; he's awake. He's alive! Everything is going to be okay!
"How long have I been out?" Damon asked brushing his lips against Kenny's neck.
Kenny turned to face Damon, now pinned against the window, "I'll tell you once you lay down."
Damon groaned and limped back to the hospital bed and laid down. His body stiffened against the hard slab they dared to call a bed in this place. Damon grabbed his ribs at the sudden pain that jolted through them, but he didn't dare let it show on his face. "Now," Damon said, his wounds doing nothing to soften his booming voice, "how long have I been out?"
"A day and a half," Kenny said and sat beside the bed. Damon's masculine hand wrapped around Kenny's smaller hand. A small, loving smile placed itself across Kenny's lips, "I'll go see when they say you can be released. That way I can take you home." Slowly, Kenny stood and walked out of the room.
Damon played with the IV stuck in his arm as he laid on the slab. A few seconds felt like an hour now. His body ached to move, to breathe without hurting at least. Damon's head throbbed as he swung his legs over the corner of the bed. A small chuckle passed his lips when he realized he was in a hospital. Kenny had taken him to a hospital! Damon chuckled more and he walked to the window. The view was beautiful in itself, but the fact he was alive to see it always made it better.
"The doctor says you have to wait at least a day," Kenny said as he stepped into the room, "that way they can make sure you're alright. Then you can go home."
Damon leaned against the window for support as he looked at Kenny. A day. Slowly, Damon nodded, "I can wait one day."
Kenny smiled to himself, and walked over to Damon. "I thought I told you to stay in bed anyways."
"You gonna make me?" Damon smirked, his sarcasm tough to maintain through the jolts of pain in his body.
"Oh?" Kenny smirked and placed his hand on Damon's chest, "you're hurt. I could take you down easily right now." Kenny turned around and headed for the door.
"I'd like to see you try," Damon growled and grabbed Kenny from behind. Swiftly, Damon pinned Kenny against his body an held Kenny's back against Damon's chest.
Kenny gasped at the sudden pin but began to laugh. "Let me go!" Kenny struggled lightly, not wanting to hurt Damon. "Let me goo!" Damon laughed with Kenny and the two toppled onto the hospital bed.
