It was Wednesday at lunch. I was sitting with Sadie, Sam, Mark, and Jaden. We were going about our usual business when, all of a sudden, I felt sick. My stomach twisted into a knot and I felt dizzy.

Sadie glanced at me. "Piper?" She poked my arm. "Piper, are you OK?"

"I'm going to puke." I whispered.

"Piper!" She yelled.

Sam came to my side. "Piper, what's wr-"

I puked. I puked all over Sam's shoes. It made a splat. Sam looked down at his shoes then up at me.

"Sorry." I mumbled.

He started laughing. "You need to go to the nurse."

I held my head in my hands. "I-I can't. I'm weak." I breathed for a moment. "Oh my god, my stomach!"

"Come on." Sam kicked his shoes off and swooped me up in his arms.

I blinked my eyes. "Whoa..."

Sadie laughed. "How adorable! The boy who got puked on is carrying the girl who puked on him to the nurse."

"Shut up." I managed to say as Sam took me away.

As he walked me through the door of the nurse's office, Mrs. Peyton panicked. "Oh, my! What happened here? Is she alright?"

"She puked all over my shoes." Sam replied.

"Set her down on that cot right there then clean yourself up, Mr. Evans." Mrs. Peyton ordered.

Sam laid me down on the cot and waved as he walked away.

"Are you OK, dear?" Mrs. Peyton asked. "Tell me what happened."

"My stomach and head hurt. I feel dizzy and weak." I answered. My eyes were closed and I felt like I was going to throw up again.

I heard Mrs. Peyton write something down. "Are you pregnant?"

"No!" I snapped.

She spoke flatly. "Sorry, honey, we ask everyone."

I sighed. "Take me home." I whined. "I want to go home."

"Let me call your mother and we'll see what she says." Mrs. Payton said.I waited a while then she touched my shoulder. "She can't pick you up. Your going to have to stay here."

"Let me talk to her, please." I said softly.

Mrs. Payton handed me the phone.

"Mom." I said. "I need to go home." I was on the verge of tears. "Come get me, please!"

"Can you drive yourself?" Mom asked.

A tear nearly slipped out of my eye. Man, I was a baby. "No." I whined. "I can't."

She let out a breath madly. "Piper, I can't come. I can't get off work."

"Please." I begged. "Ask Mrs. Evans. She'll be able to come get me."

"Fine, I'll call her." Mom said then hung up.

Mrs. Peyton and I waited. A few moments later, Mrs. Evans called and said she'd get me.

Sam's mom, Mrs. Evans, arrived at the school several minutes later. She signed me out, helped me to her car, and drove me to her house. When we got there, Mrs. Evans made up the couch for me and told me to stay there. I curled up on the little couch and clutched my stomach. She put a small bucket beside me in case I was going to puke. I pulled the blankets over my head and fell asleep.

"Piper." Mrs. Evans woke me up. "Piper, I'm leaving. I have to go get Sam. He's sick too."

I nodded my head then closed my eyes.

Wait. Sam was sick too? Great, way to go, Piper! Throw up on his shoes and get him sick. I feel accomplished today!

It seemed like seconds later, when Sam came in the door. He stumbled in and fell on top of my feet.

"Watch it!" I moaned.

"Piper?" He asked. "Hey, what are you doing here?"

I yawned. "My mom couldn't get me so you mom picked me up."

"Cool." Sam got off my legs and wiggled his way onto the couch. His body laid behind me. Sam draped his arm over my body and cuddled me.

"This is gross." I said.

Sam ignored me. Before I knew it, he was asleep and snoring.

Mrs. Evans walked in. "No wonder you two are both sick, your always so close together."

I laughed then fell asleep again.

My mom came to get me later that night. I was feeling better but my stomach was still hurting. She took me home and I went to sleep again.
