"So, um, why are you friends with Mark and Jaden?" I asked Sam as he got in my car after school that day.
Sam shrugged.
"When your around them, you always act like you like them but when your with me, you say you don't really like them." I added. "Why?"
"I guess I don't really trust them like I trust you." He finally answered. "I've only known them for one year."
I nodded. "Oh, yeah, that's right, you met them when we were freshmen."
"Do they bother you or something?" Sam asked.
I shook my head. "No, it just bothers me that you only hang out with them because they're popular and your popular."
"I'm not popular." Sam said.
"Sam, you are the most popular boy in this school and your only a sophomore." I protested. "Don't tell me your not because I know you are"
He looked down at the floor of my car. "Does it bother you that almost every girl at school likes me?"
I sat there for a moment. Boy, this just got awkward. I thought. "No."
"Really?" Sam asked with a smile.
I shrugged. "I know that we're best friends and no one can ever change that."
Sam was quiet.
"Right?!" I demanded. "Sam?!"
He laughed. "Right, Piper."
I giggled. "So, are you ever going to ask one of the many who absolutely adore you out?"
"I've got my eye on someone." Sam said secretively.
I jumped. "Oo, who?!"
"Do you have a crush on anyone?" Sam asked.
"Don't change the subject!" I exclaimed. "Answer me."
He shook his head. "Nope, answer me first."
"Fine, no I do not." I said. "Now answer!"
"You smiled when you said that! Your lying, Piper!" Sam yelled. "I know you! And I know when your lying! And you just lied right now!"
I laughed. I did not lie!"
"Whatever!" Sam chuckled. "I'm not telling you who. Your just going to have to wait and see!"
I pouted. "When are you going to ask her out?"
Sam thought for a while. "In two weeks. You know when our soccer game against Green Fields is? I'll ask her right after that."
"You better because I want to know." I said as I pulled the car into the driveway.
Sam and I got out of my car and walked inside. We raided the pantry and started watching TV before my mom got home.
All of a sudden, Haley burst in through the door. "Piper!" She screamed. "You parked in my spot in the driveway."
"So?" I asked after putting a handful of popcorn in my mouth.
Haley rolled her eyes. "So, your going to move your car."
"No." I said.
Sam laughed. "Ha, so and no rhyme. Good job, Piper!"
I laughed and high-fived Sam.
"Move your car now." Haley yelled. She put her hands on her hips and clacked her gum in her mouth. "Do it or else I'm telling mom."
