It was finally graduation day and Sam and I walked hand in hand out to the reception hall.

"Well, we survived high school together." Sam said, kissing me on the lips.

I rested my head on his shoulder for a moment and then looked up at him. "And we've been together for a little over a year."

My sister Haley walked over, took a quick picture of Sam and I together, and then hugged us both. Mom walked over with Haley's daughter, Lindsey, in her arms.

"Congrats to you both." Mom said.

Lindsey clapped her hands as she yelled baby words and drooled on her bright pink flowery dress.

Sam put his hand around my waist and kissed the top of my head. "I can't wait to move to Denver with you, babe."

"We're going to miss you guys." Mom said.

"We'll miss you too." I smiled at her.

Sam's mom and sister, Layla, came walking over and hugged us. Laya gave me flowers and Mrs. Evans gave Sam an envelope.

"What's this?" Sam asked.

Layla chuckled. "Open it and you'll find out, duh."

"Layla!" Mrs. Evens exclaimed.

I laughed.

Sam opened the envelope and pulled out a card. It had both our names on the inside and a check for $2,000.

"Mom!" Sam yelled. He attacked his tiny mother in a hug and I joined in too.

"Thank you so much!" Sam and I both said over and over again.

Mrs. Evans whiped tears from her eyes. "I just want you guys to be well off in Denver."

"Thank you." I said, giving her another quick hug.

Sam and I looked at each other. "Don't worry, Mom,"  Sam said, "Piper and I will be fine in Denver. Afterall, we do have each other."

Mom, Mrs. Evans, Layla, and Haley all "awwwed" and Lindsey started clapping again.

***Ten Years Later***

My cell phone started ringing and I jumped up to grab it. On the screen was a name I haven't seen in a while: Sadie.

"Hello?" I answered anxiously.

"Piper!" Sadie screeched.

I smiled immediately. "Sadie! How are you?"

"I'm good! How are you?" She replied.

"That's good. I'm good too." I said.

Sadie squeeled just like she did back in high school. "Piper!" She screamed inot the phone again. "Guess what?!"

"What?" I exclaimed.

Sadie paused. "I'm in LA for the weekend! We should definitly meet up!"

After Sam and I graduated from the University of Colorado in Denver, Sam was asked to play soccer for the LA Galaxy team in LA. He said yes, of course, and we've lived in LA ever since.

"No way!" I freaked out. "Can you meet up right now?"

"Sure!" Sadie agreed.

I jumped up with happiness. "Do you know where the Hard Rock Cafe is? It's on fourth street. Let's meet there!"

"Sounds like a plan!" Sadie replied.

We hung up the phone and I rushed to get ready. I grabbed my purse, quickly fixed my make-up, and got my family all ready.

When we arrived at the Hard Rock Cafe, Sadie was already waiting for us.

We attacked each other in a huge hug and couldn't stop smiling.

"This is my family." She said. "My husband, Manny, and our two boys, Colton- he's 4- and Gabe- he's 6."

"Very nice to meet you." I shook Manny's hand and waved to the two boys. "And this is my family." I grabbed Sam's hand. "Oh course you know Sam-"

"You guys actually got married!" Sadie inturrupted. "How adorable!"

I laughed. "And these are the twins, Madalyn and Adalane- they're three- and our older son, Jason-he's four."

Sadie hugged everyone and gave them kisses and we got a table to sit down.

That night, after visiting with Sadie, I realized that Sam and I had been through everything together. Not only was he my best friend but he was also my husband, the father of my children, and my rock. The four years of high school we went through together put us through the test and finally determined that we were meant to be.

"I'm glad I didn't give up on you, honey." I said to Sam before going to sleep that night.

"I'm glad I finally came to my senses and realized how amazing you are and that you should be more than just a friend." Sam replied.

I kissed him and turned off the light. "I love you."

"I love you too." Sam replied. "I always have and always will."
