It was Tuesday night and I was hiding in my room from Mom and Haley. They were fighting again. I was pretending to study but really listening to my iPod and drawing.
All of a sudden, my window started opening and a gust of wind flooded my room.
"Shit!" I muttered to myself. I jumped up and grabbed the nearest object- my lamp- to protect myself. "Who's there?" I called. "Hello?"
Who or whatever opened my window was silent.
I inched my way closer to the drafty window, lamp in hand, nervously. "Hello?"
A shaddow approached and I bent out the window to hit them with the lamp.
"Piper!" They yelled. It was Sam. "Put the fucking lamp down! It's me, Sam!"
I fell back and let out a deep breath. "Sam you scared thee shit out of me! What the hell are you doing here and why are you outside opening my window and sneaking in?"
Sam climbed in through the window. "I don't' know. I got bored after soccer practice."
"So you come over and scare me half to death?!" I exclaimed. "Thanks."
"Exactly." Sam laughed. "So what's up?" He closed the window and sat back on my bed.
I sighed and put my lamp down. "My mom and Haley are fighting again." I grumbled. "I'm just hiding in here."
"That's cool." Sam said flatly. "I was thinking, maybe I shouldn't tell you who I like. It might make things weird between us, you know? I don't want things to be awkward after I tell you. I value our friendship too much."
I rolled my eyes. "I won't make things awkward, OK? I'm really curious. I just really want to know. I promise when you tell me, I won't bother you about it or tell her or tell anyone else." I replied. "I've been your best friend forever. I think I deserve to know!"
Sam sat on the floor with me. He kissed my cheek and stared at me for a while. "I'm really nervous about telling you, though. I really want you to approve."
"As long as your happy, I'm happy." I smiled.
He kissed my cheek again. "Thanks."
"You should go." I said. "I'm really tired."
"I've only been here for about ten minutes!" Sam yelled. "And it's only nine thirty!"
I rubbed my head. "I have a headache. I'll see you tomorrow when I pick you up for school."
Sam got up and then helped me up too. He kissed my cheek then said goodbye.
"Be careful getting down from the window." I said as he opened it.
Sam climbed out. "Later!" He called.
I closed the window and crashed onto my bed. I wrapped my self in a little blanket and cried myself to sleep.
I really don't think I'm the one Sam likes.
