Chapter 28 - trip

*Andrea's pov later that night*

After panera kodie wanted to go to the beach, since we'd be in Tennessee soon, which sadly doesn't have one. We didn't have our bathing suits so instead we just walked along the shore for about an hour and a half.

We left the beach with both of our leggings rolled up, our shoes off, with the windows down, blaring music. It was great. But the whole kian thing was racking my mind. What if he thinks he has a week to come by and tell her he's sorry but we are actually leaving tomorrow. Then who knows how long kodie will want to stay in Tennessee since her baby niece will be born and her and kian aren't talking. What if she ends up wanting to stay there for weeks instead of facing her problems, that seems like kodie. I know she loves kian, but she likes to stay away from things that might make her sad.

We got home around 11:00 pm and kodie told me to pack so we can leave for our flight tomorrow, she went straight to her room and started blaring music. I could tell she was packing also. I went to my room and started to pack some of my clothes that I had just unpacked today. No big deal though because I was just filling my suitcase with leggings, jeans, t-shirts and undergarments. And i decided to put three cute-dressy outfits in there just in case we went to eat or something. After packing and listening to music for half an hour I decided to call kian to tell him we were leaving tomorrow at 1 and if he wanted to say anything to kodie that it needed to be before then. I called and after 7 rings it went to his voicemail. He usually answers his phone unless he's asleep or showering. I called again and still got no answer. Kian usually stays up late so I don't know why he'd be asleep. I called jc to see if maybe kian just wasn't near his phone. He answered after 4 rings."wassup" he said answering. "Hey, is kian near you?" I asked. "No he's asleep, he has a really important meeting at like 8 in the morning that lasts like 4 hours. So he decided to actually get some rest. Why?" He said. "Dammit. I was going to tell him that kodie and I are leaving tomorrow to go to Tennessee." I said. "Dang why so early? I thought you weren't going until like another week". "Well since kodie isn't talking to kian I think she's just trying to get away sooner" I said. "Oh well maybe just leave a voice mail for him and he'll listen to it while he's getting ready in the morning or something." He said. "Okay that sounds good. Thanks anyway." I said. "You're welcome, how was all the unpacking today?" He asked. "It wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. Kodie and I would take breaks and eat and watch netflix and we still got done at around 5:30 or so. Then we went to panera and the beach." I said. "Wow that seems like a pretty good day to me. How about we have an early lunch tomorrow since you guys will be gone for a while. I miss hanging out with both of you, but if you just want it to be us then that's fine. But knowing how kodie may be feeling about the kian thing then maybe she should tag along. I'd hate to make her feel unwanted. She's literally the most amazing girl, and I really hope kian and her can get through this. Because if they dont, it'll be really hard for me to be able to hangout with her." He said. "Okay, that should work! And it's completely fine for her to tag along. And I'm sure her and kian will get through this. They really do care for and love eachother." I said. "Okay well make sure you get done packing then get some rest. See you at about 11:00 tomorrow? Maybe we can go to Java cafe?". "Okay, we can just meet at java at 11. See you then".

I made sure I packed everything then called kian to leave a voicemail. "Hey kian, umm I know you're asleep but I just wanted to let you know that kodie and I are leaving tomorrow. Our flight is at 1, but knowing kodie she'll want to be at the airport by 12. So if you want to make amends, you might have to do it right after your meeting. Because if you don't, who knows how long we'll be in Tennessee. Anywho, I hope your meeting goes well, Goodnight and hopefully I'll see you tomorrow. Bye"

I left the voicemail then went to bed.

*next morning, kian's pov*

Kodie and I were walking along the beach. It was beautiful, she was beautiful. She's the most beautiful girl I've ever seen. "I love you babe you know that right?" I said grabbing her hands and looking into her gorgeous blue eyes. "Babe I know, you only tell me every hour." She said laughing, showing her amazing shiny white teeth. "It's only because I never want to make you feel like I don't want you." I said. Her smile faded away. "Then why would you ever say what you said. About how being single has its perks. If you really wanted me, or if you thought we could ever be together for ever you would have never said it." She was crying, which made my heart break. "But kodie I really love you. I'm sorry." I said. Her hands slowly slipped away from mine and she began to disappear.
*BEEP BEEP BEEP*
My alarm blared in my ears causing me to jump, almost falling out of bed. I rubbed my eyes and turned off the alarm on my phone, which had been going off for 30 minutes now. It was 7:30 and the meeting was a 15 minute drive. I jumped out of bed and hopped in the shower. I took a five minute shower, then put on khaki pants and a button up shirt. I ran upstairs, grabbed my wallet, and my keys.

I was five minutes away from the building where the meeting was being held when I remembered one important thing that I left at my house. My phone.

I didn't need it for the meeting, but it's always a good thing to have afterwards.

After the long, exhausting 4 hour meeting, that got extended to 4 1/2 hours, I drove home. I got to the house at about 11:40. I dropped my keys and wallet on the counter. I jogged downstairs and picked up my phone. I had a few snapchats from some of my friends and 3 missed calls from andrea last night along with a voicemail. I played the voice mail on speaker while I changed into some black jeans and and a t-shirt. "Oh no, they're leaving today! What?" I said out loud even though no one was home. I looked at the time and it was 11:45. I slipped on my converse and jogged up the stairs just as jc walked through the front door. "Dude, kodie and andrea are leaving today" he said as he shut the door behind him. "I know, I have to go tell her I'm sorry." I said grabbing a water out of the fridge along with my wallet and keys. "Kian I'm sure they're already at the airport by now, which is 30 min from here, I should add." He said making a point. "I know but that means I can make it there by 12:20 or so. You coming?" I said grabbing the door handle. "Okay" he said walking behind me to my range rover.

*15 min later*
"Dude...There's traffic, there's no way we're going to make it." Jc said as we pulled up to traffic. I started to get anxious but didn't want to show it. "Don't keep doubting it. It may work" I said. He exhaled loudly "bro, it's not like she's moving to another state. She's going to see her family for a week or so. No biggie." He said. "Yes it is a biggie. Her ex is there, other, better guys are there. Guys that don't ruin everything. So yes it is a biggie." I pretty much yelled, shocking jc. He looked at me and I looked straight at the steering wheel. "Im sorry bro, but I really hope everything works out for you. I don't want you to lose her. She's a keeper." He said. "I know she is, and im going to try my hardest to fix this. Fix us." I said. The traffic finally started to disperse and we were 5 minutes away from the airport. It was 12:38 and I was scared as hell that I wouldn't make it. Planes load early, but I have to trust my gut and tell kodie how I feel.

We pulled up and I jumped out of the car at the entrance. We let valet park the car even though we weren't staying, I was in too much of a rush to even care about my car. I ran to the sign and looked for Tennessee. I found the number, 436. I sprinted, jc running behind me. 433,434,435. We were here. They were letting and old lady in and closed the door. "You have a ticket sir?" The lady at the table asked me. "No.. no I don't.." I said out off breath and in disbelief. She walked away from the table and into a back room. I turned around to jc which was just getting to where I was. "I-I was too late. She'll never know how sorry I am. And she'll be in Tennessee thinking she's single and looking for a better guy, that she'll probably find. And I'll be here, in L.A. looking like an idiot. A guy that lost her. A perfect girl." I said rubbing the back of my neck and sitting in an empty chair. "Kian it's going to be okay. She loves you, and she isn't going there to find a new guy. She's simply going to meet a new family member. She will be back in a few weeks and you guys will be fine. Just call her and tell her how you feel " jc said. "I can't tell her how sorry I am over the phone. She'll just think I'm too much of a wussy to say it to her face." I said. "But at least she'll know that you drove all the way here to tell her. But you didn't make it in time" he said. "I honestly don't know what I'm going to do at this point. I just want to go home and sleep." I said. "It's only one. Why don't we go get some good ole Arizona tea and go to our thinking spot. That sound good?" He asked. "You can, but I really just want to be in my room by myself, asleep. Not thinking about how dumb I am. Thanks though, for coming with me." I said. "No problem, you're my best friend. And so is she. Let's go, I'll drive."

*Kodie's pov*

I woke up at 9:00 this morning and made sure I packed everything. Then andrea and I went to lunch with jc. It was great, I missed him. But being around him just reminded me of kian. Thinking of kian brought back mixed emotions. Sad, because I miss him; happy, because of his crazy personality; angry, because of the way we ended things; and even more sad, because of the last words we spoke. I love him, but I can't put myself through hell just trying to feel love.

We boarded the plane at 12:30, since we were the earliest people there. Right when we got on I put my carry on suitcase in the container above, and kept a small string bag with me. Since it was a 6 hour ride I pulled out my headphones and a sleeping mask. I plugged up my phone, put it on do not disturb and airplane mode, and started playing music from my 'recently added' list. I put on my mask and soonly fell asleep.
