i wake up to the sound of my alarm at 7:00 a.m. for my first day working at the day care. i untangle myself from kian's grip, trying not to wake him. he doesn't, he just quietly groans and turns to face the other way. i immediately hop to the bathroom and take my pain meds and begin to brush my teeth. i turn on my straightener and while it's heating up i walk to the kitchen to make myself a breakfast smoothie. no one else in the house is awake, so i try to be as quiet as i can, to be respectful. after making my smoothie i take it with me back downstairs and go into the bathroom and close the door. i play music off of my phone on a low setting.
after straightening my hair and applying light makeup, it's 7:45 a.m. i look at the screenshot of the email of my schedule for work to refresh my memory.
Monday: 9:00AM-4:00PM (with Cameron D.)
Tuesday: 9:00AM-4:00PM (with Cameron D.)
Wednesday: OFF
Thursday: 9:00AM-4:00PM (with Andrea)
Friday: 9:00AM-4:00PM (with Andrea)
Saturday & Sunday: CLOSED
when i exit the bathroom i go to my closet and start to rummage through my clothes. i don't want to wear anything too nice, since i'll be babysitting kids. i end up choosing a pair of ripped skinny jeans, a t-shirt, and converse. i think i get a work t-shirt when i get there, anyway. when i'm done getting dressed i hear kian groaning and look at him, he opens his eyes slowly and looks at me.
"hey baby" he says rubbing his eyes, "i hope you have a good first day at work" he says, sweetly
"thank you, i can't wait to see you afterwards" i say
"come give me a kiss" he says
and with that, i walk over to his side of the bed and bend down to give him a goodbye kiss.
i leave at 8:30 a.m. to be safe, and since i have a pretty good amount of time i stop and get myself an iced coffee.
i get to 'Happy Days Daycare' at 8:50 a.m. when i walk inside i see a tan boy in khaki shorts and a white 'happy days' t-shirt putting toys in a bin. when he hears the door close behind me he turns around.
"oh hi, kodie, yes?" he asks
his smile is bright and his light brown eyes could make any girl pass out. he has short scruffy facial hair around his mouth and on his chin. and his short messy hair looks perfect.
"sorry, yes, i'm Kodie. it's my first day" i say.
"i'm Cameron. i'll be your partner for today." he says smiling brightly.
"Cameron, yes of course. and tomorrow too" i say giggling
i had totally forgot that "Cameron" may have been a boy. this whole time i have just been picturing a girl. i wonder what kian will think about this. hopefully nothing, he should just trust me enough to be fine with it.
"yep, i guess they wanted you to train with me. alright so first, let me show you how we clock-in." he says as he takes me to a back room that says 'employees only' on the door. we walk in and it's a break room. there's a little kitchenette with a microwave and fridge, table, couch, and vending machines. he takes me to a little clock-in machine and hands me a card with the days of the week on it.
"here's where you'll come before and after every shift and just scan your card. and this is also where you can take your breaks." he says.
i nod my head in agreement.
he opens a closet door and pulls out a box.
