chapter 39 - moving day

I stared at the clouds that were rapidly moving past me. wondering where this car was taking me. not literally-of course, but mentally. today was the day I was moving in with my boyfriend. not only him, but his bestfriend and my bestfriend aswell. I've never lived with a significant other, I've only lived with family or friends. yes, I used to spend all my time at kian's anyway, but that's different then fully moving in.

"Hey you good?" kian said to me nudging my shoulder. 'just thinking about how much things will change' is what I wanted to say. but didn't. "Yeah" I said smiling then turned to stare out the window once again.

kian and I were in his car loaded with all my boxes and few other ones from the kitchen and such. while andrea and jc drove the small moving truck filled with all the other boxes behind us.

"Are you feeling okay? you look like you're gonna be sick?" kian asked as he pulled into his driveway. I felt a bead of sweat roll down my forehead, everything got blurry, and I was really lightheaded. "I don't feel good." He got out of the car and started speed walking to my side of the car. but before I knew it I was opening the door and I fell to the ground.

***kian's pov***
"Oh my gosh kodie-" I said running up to her. at least she fell on grass-but she still hit the ground pretty hard.

jc and andrea ran up to us. "Omg is she okay?" Andrea said. "I'll call an ambulance" jc said walking off but as he was dialing kodie opened her eyes. "ow my ankle" was the only thing she could say.

a woman jogging on the sidewalk saw us and came up to us. "I live next door, I'm a doctor, let me look at her" the woman said.

I backed off so the woman could see her up close.

"What's your name honey?" She said
"k-kodie" Kodie stuttered
"do you know how this happened? have you taken any medicine or have you drank or anything?" She said.
"no" Kodie replied
"are you the one moving in?"She said
"yes, she's moving in with us" I said out of breath
she pulled her finger in front of Kodie's face. "follow my fingers with your eyes" She said
"okay your eyes are responding fine and you feel like your fever may be going down. let's get you in the cool air" the lady said."do you mind if I come in?"
"No not at all" I responded
I picked kodie up,took her inside,and layed her on the couch.

"Im gonna call dom and ricky to come help us move" jc said walking outside.

"can I talk to her alone for a second?" the lady said to andrea and I. "yes, I'll get her a water" I said. "I'll get her an ice pack" andrea said. we both went into the kitchen, confused and frazzled.

***Kodie's pov***
"Wh-whats your name?" I asked the lady.
"jannette. you can call me jan" She said. "now is that your boyfriend over there?" She said pointing to kian.
"Yes" I said starting to smile. "is this your first time moving in with a boyfriend?"She asked. I nodded my head. "Are you afraid?" She asked. I nodded once again. "of what?". "Im scared that I'll mess it up. or somethings going to happen. and we'll end things on a really bad note and I'll have to move. and eventually I'll have to move back with my parents because I'll be so broken that I can't even stay in the same state as him let alone the city." I said. feeling relieved to get it off my shoulders.
"So you're scared that you'll do something wrong" She stated. "Im always scared that I'll mess this up and that he won't be able to forgive me, then I won't be able to forgive myself." I said. "listen, I dated this boy for five years before I ever moved in with him. but the reason I was scared, was because I felt as if there was something about me he wouldn't like. but I moved in with him and a year later we were married. and now we have two children that have their own children. and I know that me moving in with him was what changed it all." She said. "now that boy, he loves you. I barely know him, but I can already tell that that is genuine love. and one day you'll look back on today and know that you were over thinking. and you'll appreciate that you took the next step." She said, knocking some sense into me. "Thank you so much Jan" I said hugging her. "anytime you need something, whether it's a pep talk or some eggs. you come get me next door." She said pointing to the right of the house. "Well do you think you can look at my ankle? it's hurting really bad." I said. she went to look at my ankles about to ask which one it was when she stopped, I guess because she already knew which one. "It's really bruised, now I'm gonna try moving it and you tell me if it hurts and where." She turned it slightly to the right "ow, there" I said. she moved it slightly to the left "ow ow there too" I said. kian and andrea walked up to my side. she bent my ankle down "ow ow ow" and up and I said the same thing. "It hurts so bad. do you think it's broken?" I asked. "not sure. I think it's just severely sprained. do you have a doctor?" She asked. "No, I've only been in walk-in check ups since I moved here." I said. "Okay, well I don't work today but I can call my partner and see if she has anything open, but any other time you'll be my patient, got it?" She said. "yes" I replied.
