*The next morning
Sarah's alarm for work woke her up this morning. Her eyes were swollen from crying herself to sleep. Last night was rough. She and Avery never fought like that. She didn't know how to handle it so she just cried. It took everything in her not to get her phone from the hallway and call him. But she did go to get it. It needed to charge and it was also her alarm clock.
Hearing Niall's voice would've made her feel better. She knew she could always lean on him for support, this time was different though. This time he was the reason she fought with Avery. Plus if she told Niall why they fought he would find out Sarah kept him a secret. She didn't know how he would handle that. No one wants to hear that they were someone's dirty secret.
She couldn't think about this anymore. Her head was pounding and it was bad enough she had work this morning. A shower was what she needed. So she stretched out her back and got out of bed.
The floor was cold and she cursed as she stepped on it. She padded over the the closet to grab two towels and quickly made her way to the bathroom.
She got undressed and turned on the water making sure it was nice and hot. When she got in, the hot water loosened her up a bit. It relaxed her extremely tense muscles. She couldn't spend too much time in the shower though. She still had to get ready. Sarah washed her hair and her body, and got out of the shower.
She wanted to look cute and comfy for work today. She wasn't in the mood for skinny jeans so she put on tights, a long baggy tank top with studs on the shoulders and a logo of the California flag on it. She was in no mood to blow dry her hair so she just gave herself a messy French braid. After she was done her hair she brushed her teeth and washed her face. Should she wear make up today? She looked at her eyes and decided that concealer was a must. They were noticeably swollen and needed it covered so no one would ask what happened. So she just concealed what needed to be concealed, added some Chapstick to her chapped lips and exited the bathroom.
She decided she would pick up a coffee on the way to work so she wouldn't have to linger in her apartment any longer. Avery would be up soon and she didn't want to see her. She was still pissed at her about last night and wasn't ready to talk things over yet.
She put on her deodorant and perfume, a plain white ring and headed towards the door. When she looked for her black Toms she saw the picture frames of her and Avery and just shook her head. She didn't want to think about this anymore. Once she got her shoes on, she grabbed her keys from the key bowl, put her phone in her purse and left.
It felt some what good to be out of that apartment and away from the tension. Maybe her day at work would be good and she could forget about it. At least for a little while. She couldn't wait for the elevator doors to open and reveal the main floor. This way she knew she had finally escaped. Not for long though. She had to come back eventually.
She found her mini and started the car. She was a bit confused when Ed Sheeran came on because they unfortunately don't play his songs enough on the radio, but then remembered she had put the cd in the other day. She liked listening to Ed. His lyrics were amazing, and he always put a smile on her face. The song that was playing was Gold Rush. One of her favourites. She found herself singing along on her commute to work.
"I do it for the love waiting on the gold rush. Keep it on the edge smoking on a roll up. Then I see my friends all they say is hold up, Ed remember the time.." This song always put her in a good mood. And today it was helping her a lot.
She went through the drive through at the Starbucks up the street from her. She didn't get anything fancy she just really needed a regular coffee.
