Nerd, if you look it up on Google or in Webster's Dictionary, it'll tell you it's someone who's highly intelligent. Some people define nerd that way. Others sometimes define a dork with a bad haircut, either a bowl hair cut for guys or horrible and uneven choppy bangs for girls, with big-framed glasses and braces. Others define a nerd as someone who loves comics. Society has considered people who love superheroes a nerd or a geek.
Y/N was considered a nerd. She was the smartest girl in her class, and she also happened to love comic books. On the other hand, Liam wasn't considered nerd for either one. He was smart, but not a genius. He kept his grades good enough to pass all his classes and play lacrosse. Liam liked superheroes too, but never really picked up a comic book. He preferred to watch the movies or the TV shows and play the video games. And he certainly liked Y/N.
There wasn't one thing Liam didn't like about her. She was beautiful, smart, and had the biggest heart. He loved the way her eyes light up every time she got a math problem right. He loved the sound of her giggles when she reads something funny in the comic books. He loved how her smile lit up the entire room.
Liam and Y/N were in the same algebra class and were often paired up to do group assignments together. They're friends, but Liam had always hoped they'd be something more. Except, he didn't know if she felt the same way and he didn't know how to ask her without looking like an idiot. However, today he was going to get over his fear and ask her out.
"Excuse me, Y/N?" Liam tapped her shoulder.
"Oh, hey Liam!" She smiled the second she turned away from her locker and her eyes landed on the nervous blue-eyed boy. "What's up?"
"Umm, I was wondering," he scratched the back of his neck and looked down at his shoes briefly before looking back up at her. "Did you finish that mid-term review for class?"
"Yeah, I did. Why?"
"Well," he shoved his hands in his front jean pockets, "I was wondering if you could help me. I'm really struggling with some of the problems."
"Of course," she smiled at him. "Can you meet me after school at the library?"
Liam nodded profusely. "I actually don't have lacrosse practice today. So, umm, it works out perfectly."
"Perfect!" She closed her locker door and turned around to hug him quickly. "I'll see you after school."
"See ya!" He grinned sheepishly, her perfume still lingering around his nose from her hug.
When she turned around the corner in the hallway, he pulled out the two tickets he had in his pocket. Today's the day, he thought to himself as he pushed the tickets back in his pockets. You're going to ask her out. No chickening out this time.

Liam walked into the library and was immediately greeted with the sight of Y/N sitting at a table and her face buried in a Green Arrow comic book. Her eyebrows furrowed forward as her eyes scanned the page quickly, eager to find out what's going to happen next to Oliver Queen.
"Hey," Liam stood in front of the table. Y/N didn't move an inch. In fact, her eyes were focused on the comic book. Liam was afraid she was going to burn a hole through the book.
"Earth to Y/N," Liam waved his hand in front of her face, chuckling when she jumped.
"Liam," her hand flew to her heart. "You scared me."
"I'm sorry. I called you, but you didn't hear me, so I had to catch your attention somehow," he chuckled again. He tapped her comic book. "So, what is Oliver Queen up to in this issue?"
