Y/N was almost ready for Lydia's Halloween party at the Martin's lake house. Her soft medium blonde hair was curled and slightly pulled back. On the top of her head was a plastic silver tiara with multiple colored rhinestones. Her face was covered in make-up, but not in the typical sense of fake blood dripping from the corner of the lips, black eyes, or drawn stitches on the cheeks. No, her make-up was light and somewhat natural. Y/N had sparky cotton pink eyeshadow with a thin layer of black eyeliner and fake eyelashes that make her hazel eyes pop. She added extra blush on her cheeks to make them rosy and glossed her lips in a Pretty In Pink lipstick color. All she needed was her dress.
With her white gloves almost at her elbows and white high knee socks, Y/N slipped on the dress just seconds before the doorbell rang. She knew exactly who it was. Her date. Well not exactly her date, but her best friend, Liam Dunbar.
Liam and Y/N have been best friends since middle school and had been inseparable since. So the second they got invited to Lydia's Halloween party, they both agreed to go together. And being the dorks that they are, they also decided to do a couple's costume this year. Regardless, they weren't a couple, and everyone may have mistaken them for one, but they thought it would be fun to do dress up together. After some careful consideration and plenty of arguments, the two decided to dress up as characters from one of their many favorite video games.
Y/N groaned as she struggled with the zipper, only to hear the doorbell ring a second time. With the back of her dress opened, Y/N walked to her bedroom door and stuck her head out of it once she opened it.
"It's open, Liam!" Y/N yelled, hoping Liam would get the hint of letting himself in.
Y/N walked back into her bathroom and pushed the door just a couple of inches before closing. With her back facing the mirror, she turned her head back, hoping to have better luck zipping her dress.
"Hey, Peach!" Liam knocked on her bedroom door before walking in. "Are you ready?"
"Just about," Y/N grunted. She sighed, giving up. "Liam," Y/N's stuck her head in between the bathroom door and the door frame. A huge smile formed on her lips as her eyes scanned Liam in his costume. He was in blue overalls and a red shirt with a fake mustache above his lips. His hands were covered with big white gloves and a red cap with an "M" rested at the top of his head. "Don't you make an adorable Mario!" Y/N gushed.
"Y/N!" Liam whined. "I'm not trying to be adorable. Why did I agree to do this?" Liam sighed, making his fake mustache flutter a little bit. "Why couldn't we be characters from Mortal Kombat?"
"Because I don't exactly want to dress up like a slut on Halloween," Y/N opened the bathroom door and walked out.
Liam gulped the second his eyes landed on Y/N, making his Adam's apple bob up and down. She looked beautiful. Her dress was two different shades of pink with a dark pink belt at her waist and reached just above her knees. Gold earrings hung from her ears and a blue stone necklace hung at the center her chest. It's not the outfit, the make up, or the jewelry that made her beautiful, Liam always thought she was beautiful, but he really did thought she looked breathtaking tonight. He couldn't explain it. All he could do is just stare at her with awe.
"Hello?!" Y/N's waved her hand in front of Liam's face, trying to snap him out of his trance. "Where did you go?"
"Oh," Liam shook his head, trying to focus. "Sorry. Umm, you look really beautiful tonight, Y/N."
"Thanks," she smiled and looked down at her covered feet. She was glad she already had blush on to hide the blush heating in her cheeks.
"Are you ready?" Liam asked.
"Actually, no." You laughed nervously. "Would you mind helping me?"
"Yeah, sure." Liam looked over her costume and noticed she needed one more thing. "Do you need help putting on your shoes?"
"Oh no, I don't need help with that," she turned around. "I need help zipping up my dress. Mind helping me?"
Liam's eyes widen the second he saw her bare back and her black bra. His eyes quickly averted away. "Umm... Yeah," he cleared his throat. "I mean sure," he tried to say with more confidence.
"I can't seem to reach it and zip it up. There's a hook at the top as well."
"Okay," Liam said nervously.
Completely distracted by her flawless skin, Liam lifted his hands to the bottom of the zipper, completely forgetting he had huge fluffy white gloves on. Y/N giggled the second she felt the gloves brush against her skin. "You might want to remove those gloves."
"Right. Sorry." Liam's cheeks redden. He was glad Y/N couldn't see his embarrassment.
Liam removed the gloves and tucked them in one of the many pockets in his overalls. He nervously placed one hand on the zipper at the bottom and the other where the zipper would end at the top of the dress. He slowly zipped it up. The tip of his thumb brush against her back as he slowly went up. His touch was soft, tender, and warm which it sent shivers down her spine, feeling the sensation down to her toes.
Both of their heartbeats were beating incredibly fast, but Liam was the only one who could hear it them as Y/N wasn't a supernatural creature. A big smile formed on his lips, knowing he's the reason her heartbeat was racing.
"Okay, all done," Liam said as he finished hooking the hook.
"Thanks," Y/N twirled around in her dress. "How do I look, Mario?"
"You make a beautiful princess, Peach."
Y/N whispered a small thank you while looking down, avoiding Liam's gaze. She quickly got her black pumps and held on to Liam while slipping them on. "Ready?"
"Umm," Liam scratched the back of his neck. "Can I talk to you about something first?"
"Of course, Liam." Y/N grabbed Liam's hand, making his heart skip a beat. "You can talk to me about anything."
"You know, the guys have been hounding me about this," Liam looked down at their hands and slowly intertwined his fingers with hers. "If this is a date or not."
Y/N squeezed Liam's hand, bringing his eyes back to hers. "Yeah, the girls too, wondering why we're dressing up in a couple's costume when we're not..."
"Well..." Liam lingered. "What if this is a date?"
"What?" Liam heard the surprise in her tone.
"I mean I wouldn't mind if this was a date, but if you do, it's totally cool too. We can go just as best-"
"I wouldn't mind either," Y/N interrupted with a smile on her face, making Liam's smile grow bigger.
"Okay then, Princess Peach," Liam locked his baby blue eyes with Y/N's. "Would you please be my date to Lydia's party?
Y/N let out a little squeal, causing Liam to chuckle. "I'd love to Mario..." Y/N's eyebrows arched up.
"Mario..." Y/N's eyebrows pulled forward in deep thought. "Oh my gosh! What is your last name? Does Mario even have a last name? I don't ever recall-"
"Hey Princess," Liam tugged her hand, pulling her out of her thoughts. "Are you going to have me fight Browser in seven different worlds to finally take you on this date first or...?"
"I'm sorry," Y/N smiled. "I'd love to be your date." Y/N leaned in to kiss Liam's cheek, who responded with one of Mario's famous catchphrase, 'Wa-hoo-hoo!', before he opened the door. Together, they walked over to Stiles' house to get a ride to Lydia's party for their first date.
