A Year Later
"Thanks," Y/N got out of her sister's Mustang and leaned into the rolled down window. "I'll walk back home with the guys."
Her sister nodded and waved goodbye. Y/N straightened out her black skater dress before walking towards the back door of Sinema. She pulled out her phone and texted Liam she was here. She waited about five minutes and noticed Liam still hadn't read her text. She thought nothing of it. She figured he didn't hear or feel the phone. It is a loud club after all. She opened up a new text message and texted Mason, hoping she would have better luck with him. In a matter of seconds, Mason responded saying he was on his way to get her.
A few minutes later, Mason opened the back door. "Sorry, we were waiting for the security guard to leave."
Y/N waved at Brett, who was standing behind Mason. "That's no problem," she smiled as she walked through the door. "You look good!" Then she looked at Brett, "the both of you do. I can't get over how cute you two are."
"Thanks!" The boys said in unison. Mason grinned while closing the door shut behind him.
"And you look beautiful as always." Brett twirled her around to get a good look at her dress.
"Liam is going to love you in that dress." Mason complimented.
"Speaking of," Y/N looked around. "Where's Liam?"
"I have no idea." Brett answered.
"We lost him in the middle of making our way to the bar." Mason added. "Let's go find him." Mason grabbed her hand and started pulling her towards the dance floor with Brett hot on her heels.
The DJ was playing a remix of a hit song, the bass beating through the speakers, and different neon glow sticks glowed everywhere. Hot and sweaty bodies were pressed and grinding together on the dance floor. Some couples were making out on the dance floor, by the bar, in a private booth, or in dark corners of the club. Others were laughing, shouting over the music, and having a good time.
"I don't see him!" Brett shouted over the music.
"Me either!" Mason yelled back.
Y/N tries to see with the dim lights. It was hard but like the boys, she couldn't find him either. "Bathroom, maybe?!" She suggested.
Mason looked back at Y/N and shook his head. He pointed behind her and Brett, all three pairs of eyes looking directly at Liam with Hayden. It was hard for Brett to hear what they were talking about with the loud music and it was hard for them to read Liam and Hayden's facial expressions towards each other under the dim lights. As soon as a bright spotlight shone over them, they saw Hayden's hand on his arm, and for a split second they could have sworn they saw Liam smile in response.
A mix of emotions ran through Y/N's body. She was jealous, of course. Another girl was touching him, and he was smiling back at the girl he supposedly hates for something that happened in the sixth grade. However, she felt more terrified. She feared history might be repeating and she would be losing him to Hayden.
Even though Mason couldn't hear her clearing her throat, he noticed the worried look on her face. She leaned into his ear, "I think I'm gonna go."
"We'll walk you home," Mason shouted back.
Y/N shook her head. "I'll catch a cab."
Mason shook his head again as Brett shouted back, "Don't be stupid. We're taking you home."
"I'll be fine, you guys." She lied.
Brett folded his arms to his chest in a firm stance and Mason shook his head. Y/N sighed, knowing she would never win this argument. She simply nodded before Mason grabbed her hand, pulled her out of the club, and started walking towards her house.
