Three Months Ago

The Joker said, "All it takes is one bad day to reduce the sanest man alive to lunacy. One. Bad. Day." Y/N was a new werewolf who hadn't quite yet conquered the method of controlling her shift. The night of her first full moon, she somehow managed to escape from the metal chains Scott had wrapped around her against a tree, a method he was sure would work, but she was stronger than he thought. She broke free and ran loose. She had no control. She had no anchor. Her inner monster was dying to slash someone's body, cut someone's throat, and break someone's neck. Her inner monster felt powerful and craved the urge to kill.

At first there was no one in sight as she ran through the woods. Then she came across a strong scent and a rapid heartbeat. She attacked the male runner along a trail, Scott and Liam arriving too late to stop her. They found her crying; her arms wrapped around her father's dead body. She didn't understand how she did it or why she did, but she knew she killed her father. The blood on her hands was proof.

"He's all I had left." She sobbed.

Scott and Liam stood quietly. Truthfully, they didn't know what to say because, not only do they know from experience, but they also they knew no matter what they said wouldn't comfort her. No words could ever erase the mistake she did. No words would bring her father back. No words would take away the pain she's feeling right now. No words would change her new blue glowing eyes back to yellow. All they could do was watch her in sorrow.

"I can't do this." Y/N muttered between sobs. "I can't live a life without any family."

"You have us," Scott reassured her. "It's not exactly the same thing, but we're a family."

"No, you don't understand," Y/N stood up as she wiped the tears from her face with the back of her hands, smearing a little bit of her father's dry blood on her cheeks. "He wasn't just my father. He was my best friend. He learned to do my hair for school. He took me to every boy band concert I wanted to go to. He taught me to fish." Y/N took a shaky breath as her shoulders trembled. "I'm just fifteen. He had so much more to teach me." More tears escaped down her cheeks from her eyes. "I can't do this." Y/N shook her head. "It hurts too much. I have to do it. I have to turn it off."

One should never let their emotions overpower their decision no matter what the situation is, but Y/N wanted to make those emotions disappear. She wanted to make the decision that would make all of those emotions disappear. So she did. She closed her eyes and searched for the one switch that should never be flipped, her humanity.

She focused to find the switch. Scott realized what she was doing. He's never done it before, he's never even met someone who's done it before, but he has heard about it before. It can be done. It has been done before. He's heard stories from Derek and Peter. He's read about it in the newspapers. He's seen the mess on the news. It wasn't good. Nothing good came from a werewolf with no humanity.

"Y/N!" Scott rushed to her. "Don't do it!"

Scott's anxiety made Liam panic. "What is she doing?!"

"Y/N, listen to me!" Scott shook her shoulders, trying to get her to open her eyes. "Don't do it!"

Y/N slowly felt the sadness fading away. She felt the pain disappear. She no longer felt grief. She no longer felt any emotions, but she felt something, something dark, yet powerful. She had the sudden urge to kill.

"Y/N!" Scott yelled.

Her eyes flew open revealing cold, hard, and glowing blue eyes. She immediately grabbed Scott's neck and her fingers tightened it as her claws slowly cut through Scott's skin. "Don't look for me. Don't call and certainly don't text me." She let go of Scott and walked away. She looked back before running into the woods, "Goodbye."
