"Hey, Y/N!" Liam called out as soon as he saw her walking up the front steps of the school.

Y/N turned around just before entering the school and saw Liam jogging up to meet up with her. She put a big smile on her face as he opened the front door for her. "Hey, Liam," Y/N said cheerfully. "What's up?"

"Dreading to go to chemistry class," he sighed as they walked to her locker. "I don't think I passed that midterm."

"I'm sure you did great, Liam." She said with such a positive attitude. Liam leaned against the locker next to hers as she opened her locker and began switching out books. "I mean you studied, right?" Liam hummed. "And you knew all the material, right?" She heard a small 'yeah' from Liam. "So, you have nothing to worry about. I'm sure you did great."

"We'll find out right now," Liam sighed in defeat.

Y/N closed her locker door and turned around to see the stressed out boy in front of her. "I believe in you, Liam. I have faith in you."

"Thanks," Liam smiled as they began walking towards Liam's locker. Liam looked at his best friend walking by his side and noticed the tired bags under her eyes. She looked exhausted. "Hey, are you alright?"

"I'm perfectly fine," She cheered. "What makes you think I'm not?"

Liam shook his head as he opened his locker. "You just look tired."

"I stayed up studying last night for my algebra final I have later today," Y/N lied.

Liam eyed her closely after hearing her heartbeat. Y/N bit her lip nervously. She doesn't know why she lied to her werewolf best friend, but she was hoping he wouldn't catch it, or worse, call her out on it. Liam knew Y/N like the back of his hand and she's never one to lie about anything to him. For her to lie to him must have meant something was wrong, and as much as he wanted to know what was wrong, he wasn't going to push her if she wasn't ready to talk.

"I'm sure you'll do great," Liam repeated her words, causing her to giggle. "You're only one of the smartest girls in our class and not to mention one of the best volleyball players in school."

Her smile faltered a little bit, knowing Liam was too busy swapping books to notice. "I don't know what volleyball has to do with my grades, but-"

"Oh!" Liam closed his locker door. "It has nothing to do with your grades, I just wanted to point out how amazing you are." Liam said with a cheeky smile.

"Thank you," Y/N's cheeks flush with a hint of pink.

"Come on," Liam started walking. "Let's get to class before Ms. Taylor gives us detention for being late again."

Y/N bit her thumbnail as her left leg shook up and down while Ms. Taylor went around the classroom passing out the graded midterms to the proper student. "I hope you enjoyed your weekend because some of you will be spending the rest of the week studying for your next exam this Friday. Some of you need it to bring up your grade. Like you Mr. Greenberg." Ms. Taylor placed down his paper. "If you want to continue playing lacrosse, I suggest hitting the books hard."

Liam turned around to see his lab partner radiating with anxiety. "Hey," Liam placed his hand on Y/N's knee, causing her to stop. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she said, tugging her thumbnail away from her teeth. "Just nervous about my grade," she began tapping her pencil against her opened notebook.

"I'm sure you did fine," Liam reassured her again as he gave her knee a gentle squeeze. Normally, Liam's small gesture would have Y/N's heart ready to explode from her chest and butterflies in her stomach would be swarming like bees around honey, but she was too nervous about this to think about her feelings for Liam.
