6:05 am, hammering began on the roof. Lena and Stef were already awake. The kids woke up like  dominos, one after the other, they came down the stairs, grunting and moaning in frustration and sleepiness. Callie was frustrated for another reason, along with being woken up by loud bangs from above.

"7 o'clock." Brandon whispered in Callie's ear as he was the last one to enter the kitchen. Mike wouldn't be home until around 10 pm. No one noticed because everyone,  except Callie who was sitting down, was hovering over the cereal selections on the counter. Her heart fluttered when she felt his breath on her skin. She looked up at Brandon while he made his way around the kitchen, grinning from ear to ear. "Good morning!" He exclaimed, oddly excited. Definitely more than usual.

"Well you're awfully chipper." Stef looked back at him standing at the refrigerator.

"It's a good day!" Brandon replied to his mother's comment.

"Ugh, get your happiness away from me." Mariana rolled her eyes as she sat down with a bowl in her hand.

"Yeah, second that. I hate being woken up." Jesus added, following Mariana by taking a seat at the table. Jude followed as well.

"You get woken up everyday by an alarm clock." Lena laughed.

"Well yeah, but that's at my own hand. The hammering is an outside force." He tried to explain but gave up. "Never mind..."

"Any of you got plans for tonight?" Stef changed the subject, leaning against the counter.

"I'm going to Connor's tonight, if that's okay?" Jude spoke softly.

"Yes, over course, honey." Lena put her hand on his shoulder then took a seat at the empty one next to him. "What about you guys?"

"Unfortunately, I don't have any." Mariana whined.

"Me neither." Jesus mimicked her tone.

"You know, even though you are all teenagers, it doesn't mean you have to be out every single night of every single day." Stef sipped some of her coffee.

"Sometimes it's good to take some time alone and to be with family." Lena encouraged.

"Yeah, whatever." Mariana said sarcastically. Lena then looked towards Brandon, fishing for an answer.

"Oh, I was just planning on going to dad's to practice some pieces I have in progress. It'll be loud here if everyone is going to be home tonight." Brandon was surprised about well he just lied. Technically, it wasn't a lie, he was going to his dad's, but there might not be any piano being played tonight.

"What about you, Callie? Got any plans?" Stef walked towards the last open chair at the table and took a seat. She squinted her eyes, trying to quickly think of an answer that would get her out of the house.

"Uh, I-I'm going t-to..." Callie stuttered. "... Daphne's."

"Great!" Stef exclaimed.

Brandon was sitting at his desk when he heard his siblings arguing about something stupid. 5:59 pm, he read the clock. He hurried to grab his shoes next to his closet and headed down stairs. Brandon wanted to make sure everything was all set at his dad's apartment. He most of all wanted to make sure that nothing would interrupt them this time.

"Hey, B. You off to your dad's?" Stef was sitting in the dining room doing paperwork when she heard loud footsteps pounding down the stairs and entry way. Brandon was flustered when she heard her speak.

"Oh, uh, yeah. See you later." Brandon intoned before walking out the front door.

"Ok, love you!" She shouted in conjunction with the front door clicking shut.
