The sun was bright and shining through the windows, lighting up the living room with grace. On the contrast, the bags under their eyes were not bright and shiny. Callie and Brandon have had a lot of long nights lately, still celebrating their honeymoon. Callie was sitting on the bar stool with her arms folded on the counter, admiring Brandon, who was cooking pancakes at the stove. He had gotten up before her purposely so he could run to the store and get groceries they so desperately needed. The only thing that was in their kitchen before Brandon went to the store was the mini salt and pepper shakers they stole from the hotel, an individual soda bottle in the refrigerator, and an ice pack in the freezer.

"How's it cookin' good lookin'?" Callie hollered in his direction.

"Actually, they're done," Brandon said as he transferred the cooked pancakes from the pan to the plate with a spatula, then turned and put the paper plate in front of Callie.

"Mhmm, those look good." She leaned down over the counter to grab the syrup bottle. "You know you're not the only person who knows how to make a breakfast."

"Oh yeah? What do you know how to make?" He laughed as he sat down next to Callie on a bar stool, handing her a plastic fork.

"I know plenty! Biscuits and gravy...uh..." she spoke slowly trying to think. Brandon was very amused by her as he shoveled his masterpiece pancake into his mouth. "...scrambled eggs? Maybe. But I can definitely make French toast! I think-"

"That's very good. Now eat my pancakes before they get cold."

"Oh! Pancakes! I could probably make those too!" Callie's misplaced enthusiasm made Brandon laugh. "Well, I've never needed to make food before now. I should probably start to learn."

"Well, we've still got a few weeks before school starts. I could teach you," Brandon propositioned.

"Yeah?" She finally took a bite of the pancakes and hummed in satisfaction of how tasty they were. "Now these are good." Callie jumped up from the stool and went to the fridge. She grabbed the carton of orange juice and put it on the counter in between their plates. "I feel like we should do something about this." She was looking at the check dangling from an 'I heart NY' magnet they got while site-seeing on the refrigerator.

"I thought we both agreed we weren't gonna cash it?"

"We're not, but I don't think I like it just clipped on the fridge for the past week and a half." Callie went back to her seat to eat more before Brandon scarfed them down.

"Okay, well we can go buy one of those fireproof safes."

"Aren't those expensive?"

"Not the small ones, and while we're add it we should get one of those boxes that comes with bowls, plates, and mugs. Along with a box of real silverware."

"Agreed, and...maybe go to the DMV to get my name changed on my license, then to the bank, then to...where ever you go to get the name changed on a social security card." Callie smiled towards Brandon.

"You're gonna change your name?" He had a big grin on his face.

"Yep."

"Are you gonna hyphenate it or just stick with Foster?"

"I haven't decided yet." Callie and Brandon finished their pancakes.

It was around 3 o'clock when Brandon and Callie found themselves in the middle of an office supply store looking at fireproof safes of all different sizes...and prices. The most expensive one there was $3,999. It  looked like it could seal an elephant. Luckily, they didn't need one that big. Callie and Brandon came across a safe that was about 12 inches by inches by 12 inches in size, jet black, and $89.99. It was big enough for check, obviously, and anything they might need to store in there in the future.

Brandon and Callie then ran around town finding everyplace she could legally change her last name. She decided to go with 'Callie Foster.' Their laughter and giggles grew more and more with each stop. It's like they were high off adrenaline.

Their last stop of the day was to a home décor store to get real dishes. They're real adults now, the paper plates sufficed for the first week, but at this point, the paper plates were just lazy.

"What should we get?" Brandon asked, looking at what seemed like a million different options of plates, mugs...the list went on and on of choices.

"I don't think we need anything special, right?" Callie glanced over the glass cup options. "Like this," she grabbed a box of clear glasses with circular bases and put it in the cart.

"Yeah, that works." He looked for plain white plates and bowls and grabbed that box, placing it the cart alongside the other box. "Okay, the silverware..." They both turned around to look at the other side of the isle.

"This set looks fine," Callie placed the box in the cart. They checked out and proceeded to home.

Brandon and Callie set up their safe right away. There was an electronic key code that they would need to enter in order to be granted access later. They had a little argument about what the code should be. It needed to be something easy enough they didn't need to write it down, but hard enough that nobody would guess it. They decided on 28-11-20, the digits of the day of their birthday and the day they got married. Someone might guess it would have something to do with dates, but all three of them in that order, it was pretty unlikely.

Around 11 pm, Brandon and Callie felt like they were going to fall asleep mid-sentence. They hobbled to their bedroom and turned down the blankets and dressed into their pajamas.

"I am so tired," Callie spoke softly as she slid on her shorts.

"Me too," he flopped down on the bed and shoved his face in between the pillows.

"Do you think we could just...sleep?" She sat in the bed and swung her feet around, sliding them under the covers.

"Oh my god, please." He let out a funny sigh of relief, not that he didn't like being intimate with his wife. It was just they were extremely exhausted.

Callie laughed, "okay, great." She leaned over to her bedside table and switched the lamp off.

"Good night, I love you," Brandon repositioned himself in the bed and gave Callie a quick peck.

"Good night, I love you, too."
