Brandon leaned to the side table to grab his glass of water, bringing the rim to his lips and taking a sip. He wrapped his hands around Callie's calves that were in his lap before focusing back on the tv. She had her legs stretched out over the couch while reading a book, but Brandon wanted to watch this new documentary about music. Callie seemed annoyed that she had to move her legs for only a second so he could sit down, then put her legs in his lap. Everything seemed to make her annoyed. Each time he played with the volume on this television, she sighed loudly. They relaxed like this all the time, but Callie just had an extra edge. They had zero work to do and Em and Colleen were at school. The house was quite and they were just hanging out.

"Can I ask you a question?" Brandon spoke while he quieted the television just as Callie flipped a page.

"You just did," she intoned, eyes stull glued to the book. She could be a smartass sometimes when she's having a 'bleh' day.

"Seriously..." He rolled his eyes.

"Fine," she sucked her teeth and rammed her book into her lap. "What?"

"Are you pregnant?"

"What? Noo..." Callie laughed and picked her book back up. He was being totally ridiculous.

"Are you sure? You're all moody and stuff."

"Yes. I'm sure," she scoffed. "I'm not moody."

"You're moody."

"It's not even possible anyway," she mumbled, being saddened slightly by the reminder. "I'm too old, too."

"Callie, you are not old. You're 30. That's like the average age women have kids. You've gotten pregnant when it 'wasn't a possibility' before."

"I'm not pregnant, Brandon," she stressed. She could tell this meant more to him than he's letting on.

"Could you take a test? You're late, right? Like really late?"

"Yeah...how did you even know that?" Her eyes scrunched while she asked.

"'Cause I'm your husband, I know. So, you weren't sick last night and throwing up?" Brandon recalled walking up at 2:40 am to the sound of someone vomiting. He looked at Callie's side of the bed and noticed the bathroom light was on and the door was shut. He was going to get up and check on her, but his head it the pillow and he fell back asleep.

"I'm not pregnant," Callie told him again.

"Can you take a test? Please? For me." Brandon had his puppy dog eyes on and she couldn't resist.

"It's going be negative, Brandon," Callie sighed. "Do not get your hopes up. Please."

"I won't I promise." Despite his words, he had a big smile on his face while he scooped her legs off his lap so he could stand up. He was heading to the mud room to grab some shows. Callie put her book on the side table and reluctantly stood up, walking through the house to get to the door to the garage. She slipped on some sandals while Brandon was turning the car on.

They made their way to the drugstore they always go to. Callie wanted to turn back every second. She knew she wasn't pregnant. There was no way she could be pregnant. But it was strange that Brandon was so keen on that idea. Maybe it was because they've been seeing a new baby periodically the past few months. Mariana and Mat had a baby boy. For a second on the car ride, she had this whole fantasy if she actually was. In the back of her mind, she knew she wasn't. But she couldn't stop thinking about being pregnant again. As much as having a baby is a nightmare, it's the most rewarding experience anyone could ever have. Right as Brandon pulled into a slot and put the car in park, she snapped out of her haze and looked at his face. He had his hopes up. She didn't.
