It was a cloudy Saturday morning in San Diego, dark blurry blobs moved across the sky. Stef and Lena were in the kitchen juggling between sipping on some coffee and cooking some French toast, when the kids pooled in one by one.

"Well hello Sleeping Beauties." Stef smirked as each kid stepping into the kitchen.

"What?" Jesus rubbed his eye.

"It's 12:30 in the afternoon." Lena enlightened.

"And?" Brandon asked as he pulled out an carton of chocolate milk.

"Nothing, I guess. It's just a little late to be just now waking up don't you think?" Stef sassed.

"Oh, whatever. It's the weekend. And it's all dark and gloomy outside." Mariana hissed.

"What does that have to do with anything?" Stef questioned.

"Well when it's dark, it makes the room dark, making it easier to sleep in more than usual." Mariana said slowly.

"Yeah," Callie joined in.

Lena and Stef slowly snared at each other, then passed plates down the table.

"Ok...anyway." Stef rolled her eyes. "Just a reminder that me and mama are going out for the night."

"For the night? Like overnight?" Mariana scrunched her eyebrows.

"Yes. Like overnight. We are going to a hotel and a spa, I think." Lena spoke.

"Didn't you just go out like two days ago?" Jesus asked.

"Well that was for a Jenna's birthday. We've had this plan for a week. Do all of you not remember?" Stef took a bite of the French toast. Stef and Lena took the kids silence as an answer. "Apparently."

"I made soup for all of you to eat tonight-" Lena started.

"We can't just order a pizza?" Jesus interjected.

"Uh, yeah, I guess we can just eat the soup tomorrow. Anyway, Callie and Brandon are in charge. And it may or may not rain tonight, so we left flashlights, some candles, blankets, and a few other things in the living room." Lena informed.

"Wait, what? You're saying something could happen? The rain will be so bad it might knock the power out? And you're still leaving." Mariana spoke quickly.

"Whoa, take a breath. The likeliness that that will happen is slim to none, it's just a precautionary measure." Lena stood up and poured more coffee into her mug.

"It's okay, Mariana, we'll protect you." Brandon mocked and him and Jesus laughed a little.

"I'm not scared, I was just asking." Mariana covered her tracks.

"What time are you going to be back tomorrow?" Jude asked.

"Around 10, probably." Stef answered. "I'll grab some cash to leave for the pizza." She went to grab her wallet.

"Also, no one leaves the house tonight. And no one comes to the house. Understand?" Lena pointed.

"I can't have Mat over?"

"Absolutely not." Stef sternly spoke as she came back into the conversation with a 20 dollar bill in her hand. Mariana shrugged.

"Bye moms!" Jesus, Jude, Callie, Mariana, and Brandon said as Lena and Stef roller their suitcases through the front door.

"Bye, loves. Love you! Don't burn down the house!" Stef manages to get out before Lena slams the door shut. "Lena!"
