I opened my eyes slightly. My vision was tinted with pink.
Opening my eyes properly, I realised there was a hot pink post-it note stuck to my forehead. It read, 'Gone foodshopping. I'll remember your cherryade this time. ;)
-Darcy x'I promised I'd go foodshopping with Darcy this time, but I was just so tired and it was so boring.
Instead I decided to stay in bed.
I lay on my bed. Smiling. I'd been smiling for several hours now.But just like when you cry when you're happy, I was smiling because I was sad.
Liam had called me over and over again. It was Saturday morning, and I was sandwiched between my duvet and my bed sheet.
I rolled onto my side and something hard hit my back. I quickly flipped back over and looked to see what was on my bed. My laptop.
I must have fallen asleep watching Empire or something.
I moved the cursor around and the screen lit up.
Empire. There were no lessons today and Liam wanted to come over, but I hadn't told any of my friends about us yet so I didn't want him to.
I was only just sorting things out.Mrs. Maylins, my Head of Dept. had been really worried about me. She said that my friends had told her I was feeling ill so after returning to uni, two weeks later, she was glad to see me. Obviously, I went along with it.
My family on the other hand, didn't buy it. They were all worried sick until they saw the pictures on social media and now were infuriated.
My brother and sister just thought it was cool and couldn't wait to see the photo album. There was a knock on the door so I rolled out of bed and looked in the mirror quickly.
Ew.
I opened the door anyway to see Hayden.
"Hey, what's up?"
"I need to talk to you."
"Now?"
"Yeah."
"Come in."He struggled to get his crutches through the door and I had to hide my face in embarrassment.
I sat down on my bed and he did the same.
"Look, I don't want to bother you. I know that guy really likes you. But I need you to understand that I really like you too. And, I can't put that off until you give me an answer. A proper answer."
Lord, why was he doing this now?..
There was another knock on the door.
"One sec." I told Hayden before getting up to open the door.
It was Liam.
He hugged me immediately, and saw Hayden over my shoulder."Oh. Hi."
"Yeah. Hi."Liam pulled me in closer, ignoring Hayden completely and kissed my forehead. "You okay?"
"Um. Sort of. I really need to speak to Hayden right now."
He rolled his eyes.
Hayden remained sat awkwardly on my bed.
"Okay. I'll go." Liam said at last.
"Thanks."
He stepped outside, then quickly came back in, kissed me, and left again.I prayed Hayden hadn't seen that.
Turning slowly, I saw Hayden on my laptop.
I smirked. "What, you don't know how to do a tie?" I asked, seeing he was on WikiAsk.
I skimmed the page.'How to murder your bestfriend's boyfriend.'
"Oh shit."
"Yeah. I know. I know he's your boyfriend. I get it. It's obvious."
"What?"
"That, and he's been downstairs nattering about the fact that you two are finally together again. He's kinda sad to be honest."
"He's been downstairs?"
"Yeah. Olly, Ameera, Kala and I are all sat around a table at Charlie's, and this jackass walks in looking for his girlfriend."
"Oh."
"Yeah but I don't care."
I sat back down on the bed. "Hayden, you know you're still my bestfriend. I don't want you to be mad at me."
"Didn't you hear me? I said I don't care."
I looked at him. "Yes you do."
"Just give me an answer, and I'll leave you alone."
"I don't want you to leave me alone. I don't want things to change between us."
"At all?" He flashed his eyebrows and gave me a cheeky grin.
"Well.. they can't. Not like that. I'm taken now."
"Yeah but, that's not a no. Is it?"
"Well it's not a yes."
"But it's not a no."
"It's an 'it can't happen because I have a boyfriend.' Okay?"
"But if you didn't?"
"Then I could."
"You could be with me?"
"I guess."
"Then it's simple. Dump him."
"I can't just dump him!" I exclaimed, smiling because of how ridiculous Hayden was being.
"Whatever. I still kissed you first." He smirked.
"But technically... when I dated him before.."
"That doesn't count."
"Why not?" I continued to smile.
He shrugged. "Just doesn't."
"Love you." I turned to him and smiled.
He gazed goofily into my eyes. "I love you too."
I pushed him flat on my bed, realizing my mistake. "Shut up."
I towered over him. His hazely brown eyes glistening in the light under me.
