28~ Long Distance

I had a knot in my stomach. One that couldn't be untied by deep breaths or changing the subject.

Harvey.

I'd had it in my head since he'd died that the sea was Harvey's grave. The big wide sea and everything in it. And I'd never visited Harvey's real grave- so I never went to the sea.

Truth is, I was scared.

There were so many places we could have gone together, so many things I wanted to tell him. So many people I wanted him to meet. And because of me, none of that could happen. All the guilt built up inside me would explode. I didn't think I could do it. And the worst part was, I couldn't talk about it to anyone but Noah- because I hadn't told anyone else.

I tried to stop myself - but I still, still loved Noah. The fact that we weren't together only made me want her more. Typical man wanting what he can't have, I know, but there was obviously a reason for that saying.

We'd travelled a pretty long distance in an hour now and Noah was drifting off. Alex and Chase had fallen asleep and it was just Riley awake with me.

"Noah." I nudged her.

"I'm.. I'm awake.." She forced her eyes open.
"It's okay, you should sleep. We've got forty five minutes left though, okay?"
"O... Okay." Her eyelids drifted shut and she was asleep.

"Hey Liam." Riley whispered from the back.
I adjusted the mirror so I could see him.
"Yup?"
"I.. I need to pee."
"Are you joking?"
"Um.. no."
"What are you, five?"
"Just pull over!"

I drove for a while and pulled over at the nearest stop.

"Thanks." He rushed out of the car and into the nearby bushes.

Noah sat up. "Are we there?" She looked around.
"No.. no, just Riley wetting himself."
"What?"
"No.. I mean.. he needed to pee."
"Oh."
"Yeah..."
"Um, how long have we got left now?"
"About forty minutes."
"Okay. Has Blake called?"
"Nope. Is he supposed to?"
"No, just wondering." She reached for her phone in her bag and unlocked it.

Well that wasn't awkward at all..

Shortly after, Chase woke up.
"Hey, where's Riley?"
"In the bushes shitting himself."
"Oh.. great."

Riley ran back over to the car, a relaxed expression on his face.

"Alright, let's go."

I sparked the car again and we were back on the motorway.

The sun had just risen above the clouds, and it was fairly cool out.

Blake lived in South Bank, in a huge modern, glass panel house.

The guy must have to sell crack to be able to afford a house like that .

Noah had shown me a picture from the time she went to Brandon's party, and I was astounded enough just looking at it through a screen. I couldn't imagine it in person.

"The wheels on the beemer go round and round.." Chase began, like the idiot he is.
"Round and round.."
"Round and round.." Riley added.

"The wheels on the beemer go round and round, all day long." Noah joined them.

"Oh, wait, shush.." Noah sat up and her attention was drawn to the sound of the radio playing quietly. "Listen.."
"Liam, turn it up, this was my shit when I was five!" Riley gasped.
I turned up the radio to hear 'It's getting hot in here' by Nelly.
