Liam took another look at the water. A shy smile took to his face, like he'd finally accepted things, though his eyes were still sad.

Suddenly, it started to rain. It was light at first, then it got heavier and heavier until it was literally pouring.

We all ran to the end of the beach and up the boardwalk.

The way the island was set up, there were huge, stone steps decending onto the beach from the roadside, which was on higher land. Across the road were all the hotels and restaurants, and the boardwalk was at the bottom of the steps.

We rushed up the narrow stairway to the main land, crossed the road and ran into the hotel block.

Despite the fact that we'd just been splashing about in water, the same water (this time coming from the sky) caused pretty much the entire population of the beach to flee.

We finally reached our hotel. Brandon scrambled about in Julia's bag for our 'key card'.

He found it, after tossing the contents of Julia's bag left and right, and slid it through the reader. Our door clinked open.

I went straight to one of the bathrooms to change into dry clothes. Julia appeared in the mirror behind me.

"Hey you."
"Hello, trouble. What you doing?"
"I was just looking for my towel to dry my hair and noticed you in here."
"That rain really came out of nowhere."
"My grandad was a sailor, and my dad was a surfer. They always said it rains heavily when someone in heaven is saying thank you, or when they miss someone down here."

She paused.

"Stupid, I know," She continued.
I remained silent.

"Then again, my friends always said rain was God crying, and lightning was God taking screenshots as evidence for later, so don't take my word for it."

We both laughed.

I was glad Julia and I were friends. I was also glad she was friends with Darcy because Darcy was my very best bestfriend and I didn't want her and I growing apart because of all the new faces and changes that'd been happening lately.

It was so strange looking back on the past couple of months. I'd made new friends, and I'd met old ones. I'd seen a dozen and a half 'rainbows', been trapped on a mentalists ward. I'd even been dated and dumped by Liam in that time too.

And even though I'd broken down several times, I'd made it!

I remembered being in that psychiatric clinic and thinking I'd never be free again. And even though I still dance on tables, and I still go home with strangers, I had my head in the right place 96% of the time and I thought I was doing fine.

"I'm gonna go see what the others are up to," Julia said. "Be back in a sec."
"Sure thing."

I looked back at my reflection in the mirror.

This was such a Liam thing to do but...

I locked the bathroom door.

"Noah," I addressed myself. I'd tied my hair up and had washed off my makeup. It was just me and my whispered thoughts, in the mirror.

"I know how you feel. Fucking hell- I am you. And I don't know but I.. I read a book when I was little about this girl, she was eight. She met the older her. I forgot if she was dreaming or not, but she met the older her, the twenty year old her, and.. She'd changed so much. She'd been dragged through hell and back and she was so unhappy. She'd become everything the little girl swore she'd never be. And well, the future her couldn't see the younger her, so she didn't know she was around."
