I wasn't exactly sure where to go. The place looked more like a fucking theme park than a restaurant. The girls had already departed from the table and were making their way to a stand just next to the desserts. Alex and Chase (who didn't bother to mention the fact that they'd been there before.) had also gotten up and headed straight for dessert.
It was just Hayden, Oliver, Riley and me.
Riley and Hayden were chatting so Oliver and I tagged along.
"Hey."
"Hey."
"I take it you've been here before?"
"Yeah, it's a favourite. We come here most half terms, campus is right down the road and it's the best restaurant in town."
"Oh. Cool. Well it's very nice." I was trying to drop a couple of hints regarding the fact that I'd never been there before, but I didn't really think Oliver was getting it.It's just a supersized buffet. Relax, you can do this.
We stopped at the first stand- starters.
Just take a plate. Take a plate. Liam, take a fricking plate, it's not that hard.
I found I'd been distracted talking to myself in my head, and everyone else had grabbed a plate and was now staring at me.
"You're meant to take a plate." Hayden said slowly.
"Yeah I'm not stupid." I snatched a plate. The force I used to grab it sent others toppling down and crashing on the floor.
"Clearly." Hayden cocked an eyebrow.
Oliver and Riley snickered.
"Hey what's wrong with you?" Riley asked.
"Nothing, let's just-" I used my foot to brush the shards of the two broken plates under the stand. "Let's just get out of here."What the fuck. Was. That.
Really? I hadn't even eaten anything yet and I'd already started wreaking havoc.
"Hey, how about we go to the hot plate first?" Hayden asked, an almost mischievous look on his face.
"Er-" I began, feeling uncertain.
"Yeah, why not?" Oliver innocently continued.Yay, a hot plate. My one way ticket to hell.
We sat around the hot plate. Some other people had gathered there too and the chef was busily chopping and grilling things on the table.
He clanked his two sword like knifes together, and then flipped what looked like a shrimp into the air, aiming it perfectly at someone.
The person caught it in their mouth."Aaayyyy!" Everyone cheered.
"Here, I'll have one." Riley called. The chef did the same thing as before, only this time, he poured some sort of oil on the grill and it lit up with flames. When the flames died down, he threw another shrimp towards Riley, who caught it as well.
Everyone cheered again.
"How about you Liam?" Hayden smiled.
"Naah I'm good."
"Oh, go on."
"No, really -"
"I didn't know Noah had bigger balls than her boyfriend."I wouldn't usually succumb to these things, but Hayden was really testing my patience.
"Fine. I'll have one." I called to the chef, setting my plate down. I instantly realised the mistake I'd made. The chef began to throw the food, but my plate caused the hot plate to go up in flames and my glass plate cracked. The shrimp continued to fly through the air, unbothered, and hit me in the face.
A cloud of white covered the hot plate as the chef pulled out a fire extinguisher and put out the fire.
"Oh, well done."
"Nice one."
"Idiot."
People mumbled as they left the grill.
