Chapter twenty-three

Starfire p.o.v

As we all kept moving, I was thinking about Dick. I was thinking about the kids. I was thinking about everyone else who has been captured by Augustine because I was too scared to fight her and get captured as well. Dick and the others could be dead because of me. I'm such a coward! I'm dead weight! Why am I even a hero! When I'm too afraid to fight back when I'm needed to. I'm such a disappointment to everyone! 'you're hopeless! You wish to save people but you're the one who always needs saving. You're pathetic! Dick would've been better off without you! You're dead weight! Nobody needs you here! You stupid alien!' I thought as I let my sadness consume me. I let a tear out and it landed on the vent. My weeps were silent but it was enough for Cyborg to comment. "Star its going to be alright! We're gonna save Dick and the others" Cyborg said. "No! Its not that! This is all my fault!" I shouted. Delsin stopped and turned around. Delsin was at the front of the line and so that meant if Delsin stopped the whole group has to stop. "If I hadn't just stayed with the others and fight to protect them, I could've stopped Augustine!" I cried. Delsin then turned into water a slipped past the line of people to face me. He lifted my head up and looked me in the eyes. "....or you would've gotten yourself captured as well" Delsin said. My eyes filled with more tears but they didn't flow. They just stayed stuck in the eyes, making my sight watery and blurry. Delsin then used his thumb to wipe away tears. "Look! Kori......you did the right thing. You were outnumbered. The slightest chance of you beating Augustine on your own is if someone came and took the D.U.P. off your hands. You're smart for doing so" Delsin complimented my intelligence. "You think so?" I said, wanting him to continue saying nice things about me. "Yes. Kori, I would've done the same thing" Delsin smiled at me. "No you wouldn't! You would've knocked out everyone and fight Augustine! one on one!" Fetch said. Delsin turned around and gave Fetch a look the made Fetch stop smiling. I giggled a little at Fetch's reaction. Delsin then turned to face me again. "Kori, it would've been stupid to take on the D.U.P. on your own. Especially if you have no information on them whatsoever" Delsin said. "Trust me, you did the right thing coming back to us. Now we'll save Dick and the others. I promise you that!". I was crying again but not because I was sad or disappointed. It was tears of joy! I jumped on Delsin and gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. Delsin blushed as hard as possible. "Thank you! Thank you so much Delsin!" I cried. I pulled away from the hug and saw his beautiful Rowe charming smile. "Alright lets get goi...." Suddenly, the the vent beneath Delsin broke and Delsin fell. "Delsin!" I screamed. "Dad!" Sabrina yelled. I dived down and grabbed Delsin's arm. Cyborg held my waist as he held me in position. "I got you Delsin! I got you!" I said. Delsin looked up at me and smiled. "Thanks star!". Just as I was about to pull him up noise came from the security lockdown doors. "Its the DUPS! Pull him up quick!" Fetch said. "No! Star drop me!" Delsin said. "What?! No Delsin are you crazy! I'm not dropping you!" I said confused. "Star! We don't have time for this. Just drop me already!" Delsin said. I thought about it for two seconds and decided to let him go. As soon as I let his hand go, he dropped instantly. Suddenly he just.....vanished! Out of thin air! My eyes wandering around the room trying to find him but he wasn't anywhere. But he vanished in good time too. The D.U.P. walked in right after Delsin disappeared. "Did Delsin just randomly disappear?" Eugene asked. I nodded. "Yeah Delsin just turned invisible. Trust me, he's there but you cant see him" he said. I nodded. "Alright. Enough lollygagging! We should keep moving" Cyborg said. "How? Now there's a big gap in the vents and you cant hover like we can Uncle Cy" Michelle said. Cyborg thought it through. He figured out that Michelle's right. He cant get around that gap. But if only he can find a detour. Cyborg looked at his arm and looked at the blueprints on this place. Luckily, there was another way to get to where they needed to go. "Alright it looks like there's another way but Im gonna take the people on this side of the gap. Starfire, you should go with the girls. Fetch, Eugene and I will be just fine" Cyborg said. "But what about Delsin?"  I asked worried for my friend. He's down there by himself. No backup. No plan. Nothing. "D will be fine. He's smarter than he looks" Fetch said. I looked downed to see the troops all gathering in a straight horizontal line. Then I looked to see Delsin reappear in a corner near the facility B door. As soon as Delsin left the facility A, I hovered to the other side of the gap in the vent with the girls. "Alright, sending the blueprints to you now Star. We'll meet you there. Good luck" Cyborg said with a half smile and led the others to the cell rooms. "Alright girls, let's get moving!" I said. "Aunt Starfire?" Sabrina called. I looked up at her. "Will my father be alright on his own?" she asked. To be honest, I don't know wheather Delsin will be alright. He's already on the top of Augustine's hit list and if she finds him here......I don't what kind domestic torture she'll do to him. But I can't let Sabrina worry about him. "Oh yeah! Delsin will be just fine. He's one of the bravest heroes I've ever known" I said. Sabrina smiled at me with such joy and relief. "Yeah you're right! Thanks auntie!" Sabrina said as she crawled over Michelle and hugged me slightly and continued crawling down the vent. I turned around looking at the gap in the vent and turn around and crawled. 'Good luck Delsin'
