Chapter 35: Self-Compromise

Rick walked over to Kate and sat down next to her. She looked up at him with teary eyelids and scooted away. Rick scooted that equal distance so he was closer. Kate looked at him.

"What?" she whined.

"Nothing, I'm just sitting next to my fiancé." He replied.

"I didn't know that Matthew would try that. Go ahead and just say it. Say I told you so. You were right. I shouldn't have listened in. His words got to me and then I saw him outside the bathroom. And he pulled me in- but- but I got away. I told him I wasn't scared. But I was, I am. I'm so sorry." She hugged him and cried loudly. Rick gently hushed her bed rubbed her back.

"I'm not mad at you, well I was, but I'm not going to tell you I told you so, because hats rude. I'm just glad you're ok." He said making her look at him.

"Next time I'll listen to you."

"You should listen to me all the time." He chuckled.

"No, because who knows. I might end up with a zebra, or mysteriously bought my own yacht." She giggled in return.

He turned to face her and buttoned up her shirt. He then moved a piece of hair behind her ear. She cupped his cheek and gently pecked his lips. He stood up and she followed or tried. She felt pain in her back and her knees buckled. Castle ran to her and caught her before she fell. He helped her stand fully straight.

"What's wrong? Is it Matthew?" He asked.

"It's my back. He slammed me into a wall but-"

"Do you want Lanie? You know she'll be here in an instant."

"No it's fine, but can you go tell Gates that we're going home?"

"Yeah just wait right here and ill go run over to her office." Castle kissed her cheek and then ran over to the office. He didn't even knock which bothered Gates but then seconds later she glanced Kate's way. She didn't even hesitate with allowing Castle to take Kate home. She saw the pain in Kate's eyes. Castle quickly went to her and held her hand supporting her as she walked. When they got home Rick helped her change and they then cuddled up on the couch watching the movie Salt with Angelina Jolie. Kate fell asleep halfway through, and Castle stayed up watching the rest while inhaling the popcorn deeply submerged in the movie. When it was over he slowly awoke Kate. She sighed and opened her eyes.

"Wake my beautiful fiancé." He said, gaining a soft smile.

"What time is it?" She groggily asked.

"I don't know, late?"

"Do you love me." Kate said sitting up feeling her forehead.

"Of course I do you know that."

"Then show me."

"What?"

"Can we have sex?"

"Why? Kate you don't have to do this if yore not ready. And you know that."

"I know but I'm tired of being scared. I'm tired of running. And no one has ever loved me like you do. So please, can you just show me what real love is?"

"Are you sure you want this?"

"More than anything."

Rick gently kissed her and it escalated from there. He picked her up and she began unbuttoning his shirt. She then was laid on the bed and he was on top of her undoing her shirt as well. They were both so caught of in the moment that they didn't care if clothes were ripped. Because the act was happening fast Kate began to get scared. Castle noticed and slowed down gently tilting her chin up to look him in the eyes. She smiled and soon all of there clothes were off. Castle was ready and so was Kate. The to embarked on a journey that neither of them fully understood until now. They were never going to leave each other. Ever.

Kate slowly turned over and smelled the cologne of Rick. She giggles realized she still had no clothes on. She felt like a teenager. She was finally happy that she overcame this fear that she had. She kissed his cheek and he slowly opened his eyes and smiled.

"Good morning beautiful." He said leaning in and pecking her lips. They then both got dressed and ate a small breakfast and headed over to the precinct.

It was a slow day and since Matthew was being processed he was at the Tombs. Castle had left for about half an hour to do a coffee run for the whole gang. When he returned they all thanked him and got back to doing boring paperwork.

Halfway through the day Beckett got sick of her coffee. She threw it away and felt a little nauseous. She brushed it off. She thought about her and Castle last night. She loved it. No one harmed her at all.

Castle came back from the break room with a donut. It had sprinkles. It was for Beckett.

"Here you go." He smiled and handed it to her. She looked at him with a confused face.

"Why are you Gigi this to me?" She asked taking to donut.

"Because I love you."

"I love you too." She smiled taking a bite out of the donut. This tastes better than any other donut she had ever had. She moaned when she swallowed.

"So you like it that much?" He laughed and sat down in his chair.

"I do, do you want some?" Castle quickly nodded and she broke off a piece and fed it to him. Rick smiled. It was really good. Castle leaned in the kiss her when Kate shook  her head no. They needed to act professional or Castle would be kicked out. Kate did a little hiccup and they both laughed. They were happy. And if they weren't perfect they were getting close. Everything was fine until Kate's look on her face changed.

The elevator had dinged and Josh came in.
