It was a normal day for everyone in the world. The birds were chirping around tree branches, the sun was graciously giving the city its bright rays, the steady flow of cars making their way to their destinations, people walking around to their jobs. It was so normal, and Bucky was jealous of it.
His life wasn't normal. Well, it was at first. He was a sergeant, fighting for his country; a brother and a son to his family, loving them in every way he can; a friend, that you can lean on when you need a person. Until it was that moment that he fell off the train, lost his arm and got dragged to the pits of hell also known as HYDRA.
Bucky wasn't going to lie, he missed his life back in the 30s. It was full of happy memories, ones that he remembered, something he grasped on for the sake of time. Now, he was just stuck with a few memories, remembering them one by one with the use of eating his favorite fruit, plums. He did remember a lot though since then, his friends – family now, helped him to do so. Bucky even made new memories which made him ecstatic. Steve mostly helped him through recovering from HYDRA's bullshit; brainwashing and cryo-freeze, actually.
Steven Grant Rogers, his best friend since God knows when. He and Steve stuck through thick and thin. The little boy he remembered from Brooklyn, the boy who would always stick up to bullies even when he was beaten to a pulp, the boy who only wanted to help the world, the boy who wanted his dreams to come true and lastly, the boy who Bucky fell in love with.
He wasn't hard to love. How could it be difficult to love Steve Rogers? Sure he can be a big ball of sass but other than that? You can see every single thing you're looking for a soulmate. Bucky was goddamn lucky that Steve was his. No one would steal his Stevie away from him.
I mean sure, they kind of moved fast with their relationship, Bucky was going to propose for God's sakes. Like that famous basketball player with the chicken recipe name said, "why wait when you've found the right one?" Bucky honestly related so much to that quote.
So back to the real world. AC/DC was mercilessly playing throughout the tower, you could hear Natasha and Clint screaming profanities at each other because of training, Vision was scaring the shit out of Wanda because of popping out in her walls, and Bucky doesn't know where the hell Pietro was. All he knew was this was normal now. This is what he experiences everyday.
"Mr. Barnes?" FRIDAY's robotic voice echoed out inside his room. Bucky looked up, not getting used to the AI's voice really. "Yeah?" Bucky asked the AI, fiddling with the velvet box he was holding. "Mr. Rogers is waiting for you at the lobby," Bucky's eyes were wide with alarm.
It was 12 in the afternoon already?!
Bucky replied with, "tell him I'm coming soon," to the AI and immediately hid the velvet box inside his jacket while muttering profanities to himself. Bucky was walking very fast towards the elevator, realizing he was late for their date. AC/DC was still playing all over. Bucky rolled his eyes because he can't escape the damn band, Tony could at least play some different music.
He then went inside the elevator, waiting to get out. Once the elevator stopped at the lobby, Bucky immediately stepped out and walked towards Steve. "Wow, I am so sorry I forgot about the – holy shit," was Bucky's response as he saw Steve Rogers standing there looking so innocent in his usual plaids, brown leather jacket and blue jeans. Not to mention his perfect blonde hair that Bucky always plays with whenever they kiss – oops.
"What?" Steve asked, smiling at Bucky, the kind of smile that would make you cry because of the genuine happiness it held. Bucky swore to God that he almost melted at the spot. He was so fucking lucky to have him.
