Chapter Two
“Hanging Out With Her.”
My cup is almost empty and I was almost full. And Dave flashed through my thoughts all of the sudden, I remembered how the way he took care of me when I was sick, well he was a horrible caretaker actually. How he told me I was beautiful every five minutes, how he cooks me breakfast every morning. But his innocence is gone, totally gone. Even the trust… Gone.
“Can I ask you a question?” Shayne asks me.
“Yes, yes you can.” I replied to her, politely. Putting my cold cup on the table and grabbed a tissue and wiped the remained liquid around my lips.
“Since you got a boyfriend, well are you ready for it?” She asks me as my heart stopped beating.
“I don’t know.” I shake my head and placed my hand on my forehead. “Because, when I was a teen—I don’t take it seriously, I’ll just say yes immediately without thinking about it.”
“So, you weren’t serious about you and Dave’s relationship?” She asks, interestedly.
“Of course I am.” I assure her and nod my head, thinking about how dumb I am. I don’t take it all seriously. “I was very serious about our relationship, but I think Dave… I don’t think so.”
“So, you said a ‘yes’ right away when Dave asked a relationship?” She asked, curiously.
“Nope, I thought about it and asked questions to myself.” I told her and smiled. “Can we just change the topic? I just feel comfortable about it, honestly.”
“Sure, sure.” She smiles genuinely. “You look like a homeless lady when you’re on that jeans and shirt.”
“Hey, don’t judge me.” I reminded her and raised an eyebrow. “This is my style, we have our own styles so you don’t have to judge me or whatever. Keep your mouth shut too.”
“I didn’t judge you!” She protests and I laughed. “You should be wearing a floral dress or something. You look wonderful when we’ll trim your long, blonde hair. Eh?”
“Please, not my hair.” I begged her. “You were supposed to be focusing on my attire not my hair.”
“Alright then.” She lifts her head up as we exited Starbucks. We entered the department store and buy new outfits for me.
“I found one!” She exclaims and tossed me a cute floral shorts and a white hipster tank top. “I swear that you will look so amazing and beautiful when you wear this.”
“Alright?” I marched to the dressing room, and dressed myself to the attire that Shayne asked me to.
After a couple of minutes dressing on the dressing room. I finally went out of the dressing room and walk towards her, smiling genuinely. “You look wonderful!” She compliments. “I’m going to get this, you just need to remove the tag at your back.”
I removed the tag at my back and smiled shyly, I followed her to the mall and I can see her huge smile on her face. She grabs my hand and exited the department store—no idea where we are going next.
The mall was crowded and Shayne and I’s hands were separated. A lot of people were around me, getting their way to the stores they want to go. And all of the sudden, I accidentally bumped a guy. His emerald green eyes meet mine, he gaze at me. And my world is spinning. My two eyes are all directed to him, gazing to be precise.
“I’m very sorry.” I finally apologize and walked out in front of him. Was I too rude to him?
I scanned the mall to find Shayne and she was gone. And this is my first time to get lost on a mall. I would probably cry in front of the people like a child but please no. I don’t want to be embarrassed.
“Boo!” Shayne’s loud voice startled me; I hugged her tightly and chuckled.
“I was afraid to lose you around this mall!” I told her and both of us exited the mall. “I would probably cry in front of the people when you left me alone.”
“Well, that’s weird.” She shrugs her shoulders. “I always get lost at the mall when I was a child.”
“Because you’re hard headed.” I joked and laughed. “My mum and dad treated me like a princes despite the fact that I really don’t want one. I really despise their personality to be honest.”
“At least they made an effort paying your education.” She snaps and her eyebrows arched. “Duh?”
“No, they didn’t.” I rolled my eyes. “They abused me like I’m not their daughter anymore.”
“So who was paying your tuition then?” A curious expression was placed around her face. “A ghost?”
“My aunt.” I raised my eyebrows and smiled. “But she died by breast cancer when I was third year high.”
“Oh.” She sighs.
“I think I better go home now.” I told her.
“It’s too early!” She groans. “Why are you acting like a princess or something?”
“I’m not used staying very long on public.” I admit and smiled. “So, I’m going to see you later then.”
“Right.” She sighs and I head my way home.
