"We have been riding for an hour- how much farther is this waterfall," I complain.
"It's just up here, I promise!"
Then he pulls Chester into a trot, and turns the bend. I follow.
I can hear rushing water in the distance. When I turn the corner, I see it.
"Woah," I whisper in awe.
It's not a big waterfall. Maybe fifteen feet tall. At its base, there is an almost crystal clear lagoon. I can see fish swimming at the bottom.
"Oh my gosh, this is just- wow," I say.
"I told you it would be worth it."
"Ok, ok you were right."
I dismount Ezhno, and hook the reigns over the saddle horn so they won't dangle.
"I almost want to go swimming," I say.
"Why don't you? The waters warm," Carter replies.
"I don't know," I laugh.
I walk to the edge of the water, and Carter follows me.
"You are something else," he says. Our faces are inches apart. I start to stand up on my tip toes, and then-
Carter yelps as Ezhno pushes him into the water with his massive head. I burst out laughing.
"Wow Ezhno, you are so jealous," I chuckle, giving him a hug.
"Ok, very funny. Now help me out," Carter says, not very amused.
"Fine." I reach my hand out towards him, and in moments I'm submerged in the cool water.
When I come up, I yell "You tricked me!"
Carter just laughs.
"It's not funny! This is my only pair of pants!"
"Oh- crap. Well, I can wash them for you when we get back."
"What am I supposed to wear while they're washing?"
"We'll figure something out."
"Fine," I pout.
Because I'm already drenched, I swim around for a while. I'm floating on my back when Carter comes up behind me and lifts me up.
"Put me down," I yell. He doesn't give in so I cross my arms as he stands up and walks to land.
"We should get back. My mom will have dinner on the table in a few hours," he says, setting me down.
I nod, and mount Ezhno. I think I remember the way back, so I pull him into a full gallop, and yell out behind me, "Catch me if you can!"
