“I don’t see why it’s a big deal. Dominic is a nice guy; he couldn’t possibly be stalking me,” Anaïs frowned as she pulled the towel tighter around her breasts.
It was just around midnight and she had been feeling strange all day. Her body felt too hot, her muscles too tight, and she couldn’t keep her eyes off Ryder’s throat. The last thing she wanted to do was talk about the psychopath who kept following her around. She wanted to change into something comfortable, slip under the covers, and enjoy the oblivion of sleep- Ryder, on the other hand, was adamant about discussing his concerns over Dominic. Anaïs listened until he complained about Jacky’s supposed “infatuation” with Dominic and suddenly, she couldn’t stand it anymore.
Maybe jealousy drove her to it, maybe it was the last straw, but it didn’t matter either way- Anaïs found herself backing him up against the bed and straddling him as soon as he was down. She grabbed the front of his shirt, completely ignoring the fact that the towel had slipped down to her hips, and pulled him toward her.
“I don’t want to hear it; frankly, I don’t give a damn. God why can’t you just ravish me?” she complained, “Can’t you see that I’m going up in flames?”
“You told me-”
“Don’t you want me?”
“Of course I-”
“Then touch me.”
Ryder wrapped his arm around her waist as he sat up. He didn’t understand her sudden change of mind but he wasn’t about to let the opportunity pass. He noticed, fleetingly, that her iris’ had gone completely black but the thought was lost when her lips touched his. It was sweet intoxication when their tongues brushed and the feeling was heightened when she took his bottom lip between her teeth.
“More, I want more,” she sighed, her hands struggling with the button of his jeans.
The heat had intensified and her throat suddenly felt dry. Anaïs realized, too late, that it was all a result of her hunger. She hadn’t felt this way in years… this mixture of hunger and lust… she’d forgotten how overwhelming it was. It wasn’t anything like the hunger she usually felt it was stronger, almost carnal. It was a thirst for release as well as a thirst for blood and she couldn’t help herself. Her hands ran over his chest, exploring the ridges of his abs, and her lips had found their way to his neck.
“Ryder… you need to go,” she whispered, hardly able to believe she had the willpower to urge him to leave.
“What?”
Ryder knew he had heard her correctly but Anaïs was clinging to him like she didn’t want to be separated from him for even a moment. Could she possibly have meant it when she told him to leave?
“Anaïs what did you-”
“Please, stop me,” Anaïs panted.
She had tears in her eyes from the effort it took to hold off from biting him. She couldn’t believe how unbearably tempting it was… she wanted to sink her teeth into the smooth skin of his throat and drink till her thirst was quenched.
