Jacky was painfully aware of the man behind her. He was directing her toward a sitting room; describing the furniture and the style in great detail. The furniture was constructed from the best South American Mahogany, he said, and craftily grabbed her arm as if to turn her toward the piece he wanted her to see.

Jacky touched her thigh to assure herself that the knife she had placed there had not disappeared somehow. It didn’t alleviate her fear but it did calm her nerves. There was some time to plan; she wasn’t enough of a fool to take any more drinks from him and she wasn’t going to eat any of his food either.

“It’s a beautiful room,” she murmured, unsure of his intentions.

She was afraid she was being completely transparent. If he caught on to her wariness, there was no telling what he would do. In fact, she wasn’t sure what he had planned in the first place. She knew Anais was the target, not she, but that didn’t mean he wouldn’t harm her as well.

“Not as beautiful as you,” Dominic answered, “and that’s why I want to paint you.”

“I’m flattered, really, but I don’t think I’m interested. I couldn’t possibly stay still long enough to be painted.”

“You won’t have to worry about that Jacky,” Dominic muttered, tightening his hold on her arm.

When she tried to turn, he grabbed onto her other arm and chuckled.

“I don’t think you understand the situation,” he sighed, “I thought I could do this without issues or struggles but I see that isn’t the case. I’m going to paint you tonight Jacqueline.”

“Funny, I could have sworn I declined. Let me go Dominic.”

Dominic chuckled once more.

“You’re smart so I’m sure you know that you have no choice. Don’t make me use force, I don’t want to ruin this project by marring your body.”

Jacky stared forward as his words played over and over in her mind.

He was crazy and crazy people didn’t know limits. He was capable of anything. He would “mar” her body if she gave him reason; which meant he would kill her without a second thought.

Jacky’s hands clenched into fists as her anger flared.

She supposed she could be smart about the situation.

She could play along.

She could pretend to be a submissive victim.

She could… but…

I’ll be damned if I give him the satisfaction, she thought, and used all her force to wrench herself away from him.

Jacky fell to the ground on all fours and had but a moment, just a few seconds, to get up and run as his features began to morph.
